Just thought I'd better start a new thread for those of you who would like to see updates before the old one is totally full.

All still good here! I've been a bit low on iron but the tablets REALLY don't agree with me. So I've started just taking one in the morning with orange juice, and having a spoonful of Floridix in the afternoon and making an effort to eat spinach and red meat.
I've been feeling baby OMG moving around a lot more now he's getting bigger and stronger, which is lovely although slightly alarming at times!

We've probably got a maximum of 7 weeks to go now as I understand the drs are not keen for older mums to go much over 39 weeks. Eeeek.
Will keep you all posted.

Ah thanks for starting a new thread and keeping us all updated, OP. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for a stranger’s baby to arrive than I am for yours. Just so very pleased for you, you seem like a lovely person.

ColourMeExhausted · 10/06/2022 18:45

What a lovely thread to find on here! So happy for you OP and wishing you all the very best with your pregnancy and delivery! I had second DC at 38 and two of my friends gave birth at 42 with no complications. Nothing wrong with being an 'older' mum!

SerialNameChanger2114 · 10/06/2022 18:45

This is one of my favourite ever threads ❤️❤️

Izzwizzo · 10/06/2022 18:45

I'm so thrilled for you. I remember your first thread and it made me cry happy tears! Hope you get some time to put your feet up and relax before baby OMG arrived. Life will never be the same again but in a wonderful way Smile

newfriend05 · 10/06/2022 18:51

Themidnightpig · 10/06/2022 18:59

I just read your previous thread too and it also made me cry!! Congratulations to you, what a wonderful exciting time for you and DH.

I was the same gestation as you (ish) this time last year and now I have a gorgeous squishy little almost 10 month old, it is the best feeling in the world.

(Ps I also smiled at having just bought all your lovely christmas cheeses, meats and wine that you then realized you couldn't eat as that was me too!)

💐

Bipbopbee · 10/06/2022 18:59

Such a lovely thread! Just caught up on your previous one OP, so pleased for you!

Wimblepeep · 10/06/2022 19:03

Yup, I was one of those crying with the original thread too. It’s so exciting! I’m 40 and deciding now if I want to try. So it’s nice to read about ‘older’ mums here.

Daisy38 · 10/06/2022 19:04

I love catching up with your news and seeing all your updates 💖

Moithered · 10/06/2022 19:05

Why is this in the aibu section?
Is there/should there be a se tion for people who are enciente?

BellaVita · 10/06/2022 19:09

Congratulations! 🎉 What a lovely thread ❤️ xx

Because it started there as the OP was wondering if SWBU to think she was pregnant, and she has kept it there. I really dont see what your problem is, apart from sounding affected.

This thread makes me so happy! With all the bad news in the world it’s lovely to hear some happy news

DisforDarkChocolate · 10/06/2022 19:20

If you're struggling with iron supplements try a fortified cereal like Weetabix, it has something like 80% of the iron a non-pregnant woman needs.

BiscoffAnythingIsTheWayForward · 10/06/2022 19:26

Well…that was a rollercoaster ride. I almost cried with joy myself at your amazing surprise! I’ll be following along for updates. Hope the next 6 weeks or so goes smoothly

Chocolate2cake · 10/06/2022 19:27

Found your original post by chance today just what I needed after the week I've had. Congratulations to you both so looking forward to the updates!

Omgwhatthehell · 10/06/2022 19:29

Thanks everyone! DH is out tonight with a friend so I’m just pottering around at home and sorting out bits in the nursery.

@Irishfarmer Its good to hear from you again! I’m glad you are doing well.
We have been given a pile of first size clothes by a friend who had a baby in March and we have also bought a load of 0-3 ourselves. I’ve tried not to go too nuts because everyone says we’ll get given lots of small clothes as gifts. My aunties have knitted him a few little cardigans and they are so sweet! I can’t wait to take photos of him in them to send to them. They are very excited because I think they thought my generation were done having babies.

@nettie434 funnily enough I’ve eaten tinned sardines and prunes over the past couple of days! (Not together Grin)
There must be a bit of truth in listening to your body as I’ve really fancied them. I’ll have a blood test again to check my iron level in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed it’ll have improved.

@Cherrysoup I don’t think he’s moved. It still feels like he’s breech. But we have a 36 week scan in just over 3 weeks so we’ll see what’s happening then. I’m trying not to stress about it too much. If he’s still breech then we’ll probably go with the advice to try to let the drs turn him.

As others have posted what an uplifting thread , lovely to read your story so far OP and will look forward to following the updates . I had my son at 40 as well.
Sending best wishes

Nanalisa60 · 10/06/2022 19:34

So pleased you are both well, enjoy the summer, don’t forget to but your feet up, and have fun nesting!!

Brenna24 · 10/06/2022 19:34

I too have just found your original thread. Congratulations, what a wonderful surprise. I have a 4 year old 'Drs Said No' surprise who was born at 34 weeks gestation 2 weeks before I turned 40 after multiple miscarriages and then secondary infertility. It is such a wonderful adventure and I have made the most of every minute I have with her. She still drives me bonkers sometimes and the exhaustion can be relentless but I would change nothing. Enjoy your journey, it is fun.
