Just thought I'd better start a new thread for those of you who would like to see updates before the old one is totally full.

All still good here! I've been a bit low on iron but the tablets REALLY don't agree with me. So I've started just taking one in the morning with orange juice, and having a spoonful of Floridix in the afternoon and making an effort to eat spinach and red meat.
I've been feeling baby OMG moving around a lot more now he's getting bigger and stronger, which is lovely although slightly alarming at times!

We've probably got a maximum of 7 weeks to go now as I understand the drs are not keen for older mums to go much over 39 weeks. Eeeek.
Will keep you all posted.

Oooh @lovewatchingrainfall I do have one of those! I hadn’t thought of that.
I might try that when DH is at work next week.

I’ve just finished work for the week. I’m finding it tiring doing a handover to my maternity cover. So now I’m treating myself to some sofa time and eating chocolate.

@Omgwhatthehell how long have you got now? ☺️

Omgwhatthehell · 04/07/2022 23:51

We had our 36 week scan today and he’s moved head down @ijustcouldntthinkofausername
So he should be here within a month!
I have a midwife appointment in a few days to discuss birth preferences.
If I remember correctly the midwives and/or consultants ideally don’t like women over 40 years old to go much over 39 weeks, so he could potentially be here within about three weeks which seems crazy.

I remember you posting this thread and how amazingly excited I was 😀😂

So happy to read your updates here, I had to go back to the beginning to read that all as it’s so heartwarming and lovely!

Wishing you, baby boy and family all the best 💙

nettie434 · 05/07/2022 02:31

Not long to wait now SquidGinn! Glad everything is going well.

nettie434 · 05/07/2022 08:49

Eek - posted when I should have been asleep - was agreeing with SquidGinn about the best wishes for you OMGWhatthehell. Not that SquidGinn doesn't deserve good wishes too but presumably not 36 week pregnancy type wishes too! 😳

Nope not those sort of wishes thanks 😅😂 xx

Omgwhatthehell · 05/07/2022 09:27

Hahah @nettie434 Thank you.
I’m sure @SquidGinn also deserves some good wishes!

I’ve had a terrible nights sleep. I can’t wait to finish work a week on Friday and relax a bit.

Good luck @Omgwhatthehell
I was a first timer at 40 as well; ended up an elective C-section because he was stuck in breech, but I know the nesting thing. The day before, I was down the back of the telly wallpapering the wall under a new window! DH had to pull me up if I needed to shift position as I was huge...

Said bump is now eating me out of house and home and is rather taller than me...

SpaceFarce · 05/07/2022 10:44

This has been the quickest pregnancy ever! (Probably not for you OMG but every time I check on this thread I can’t believe how fast it’s gone!)

Janey3090 · 05/07/2022 10:49

I've been loving reading this thread, sorry I didn't post until now!

I remember reading your first post back in December, right at the time myself and DH were going through fertility investigations. I was told it was unlikely for me naturally due to ovulation issues so were looking at the IVF route, but I tried to not give up hope about it happening naturally. And I got super lucky, I'm 14 weeks pregnant tomorrow!! ❤So on a personal note, thank you for sharing your story with us and showing other women going through similar to not give up hope. I know it doesn't always work out this way for women sadly, but it's so nice to read a happy ending story especially amongst everything else happening in the world too.

Please please continue to keep us updated, can't wait to hear when your little boy arrives and what you name him! xx

Omgwhatthehell · 05/07/2022 11:00

Oh @Janey3090 I am so, so pleased for you! Congratulations! I'm glad this thread has given some other women a glimmer of hope. Like you say, it's just a shame it doesn't work out for everyone. I am very grateful we are getting this unexpected gift.

@Heronatemygoldfish I am 100% going to be doing similar things while. The instinct to get things which don't actually matter clean and sorted is just so strong!

@SpaceFarce it feels like it's going very quickly now. Especially as we held off telling most friends until I was about 20 weeks. But the early pregnancy and time between scans seemed to really drag. Maybe because I felt so nauseous most of the time.

I will keep you all posted.

Yup.i can't believe where we started with this.a few pages of guessing and it can't be lol.
I admit I was worried for you at first.the shock and "is she ok with this result"
And how the whatsit are we now talking about you giving birth?no,I do not believe it...im not ready hahaha.
You've got wholegaggle of "aunties" behind you now too! All imvested in your family being ok.which you will be of course.your a mummy soon! Wooop

Omgwhatthehell · 08/07/2022 12:31

God I feel tired. I went into work for a meeting yesterday and it really took it out of me! It was pretty hot in London in the afternoon which probably didn't help.
I only have a few days of work left and can't wait to finish.

I'm almost 37 weeks, and am booked in with a consultant to discuss induction when I'm due to be 38 +4. I'm not super keen on being induced but understand the risks and why they recommend it around 39 weeks for older mums, so will go with it.
Not too long now!

PolliFlinders · 08/07/2022 13:04

Getting so near, very exciting. Hope all goes well.

RidingMyBike · 08/07/2022 16:33

Good luck OP! I had induction at 38 weeks (for GD) and, whilst not a walk in the park, it was fine. I chatted to a few people in advance who'd also been induced so I was well prepared for what to expect.

newfriend05 · 08/07/2022 16:37

I'm so excited for you
OP .. I've read both threads ..this is one of the most loveliest threads I have ever seen on MN and have loved that you have took
Us all on your Journey with you .. can't wait till little man is here xx

kateandme · 09/07/2022 16:55

Really not long.just these next few days.keep hydrated in this heat.of course your going to feel tired now.you body is clever.its starting to preserve strength.it will be trying to make u rest.
So t overthunk all the induction stuff.i reckon if the docs made this decision then they know why haha.so let them guide you, keep you safest.

Broadswordcalling · 10/07/2022 09:20

I was on your original thread under a different name. I can't tell you the joy this thread brings to me each time I read your updates.

I hope your last few days go quickly for you!

theremustonlybeone · 10/07/2022 09:28

How exciting! I had a little surprise aged 44. He arrived 3 weeks before my 45th birthday. I was booked in for a section at 39weeks. Good luck with it all. I thoroughly enjoyed my maternity leave and at my age saw it as a little holiday albeit tiring!

CuriousMama · 10/07/2022 11:12

So exciting 🙂. I was heavily pregnant in summer years ago. Very uncomfortable. He's a strapping 6 ft 4 inch sailor now though. His elder brother was late October so not so bad.
A bowl of iced water in front of a fan is very cooling.

Bluetrews25 · 10/07/2022 11:44

Sending cool thoughts and positive vibes to you, OMG.
Home you enjoy those last few days before little one arrives.
Makes me think of the Abba song, The Day Before You Came
They sing about how life is mundane and routine, the day before Something Happens. And life will change forever, in a brilliant way. Tomorrow.
Good luck OMG! Flowers
