To feel "posh"

leopardprintpants · 22/07/2021 19:48

Have recently bought my DC towelling shorts from Boden for our holiday.. I feel like a bit of a posho which is weird, I know 😂

So what I want to know is, what thing did you buy for your children that made you feel "posh" or even, what have you bought your DC that your parents would have never dreamed of buying for you?

Lighthearted.

I actually have a mix of Habitat, Le Creuset and Percy Pig bags for life... Such poshness.

Zilla1 · 22/07/2021 22:24

@Hamster33 just wait until someone says they don't consider private jets and Barbados to be 'posh' because they have more refined tastes, private island and trained dolphins with which to swim there.

@VictoriaLudorum

This is the saddest post I have ever read here.
I've quoted this just so you can read it back and add it to your 'sad' list...

I regularly take my these kids into a bookshop, buy us all a new book and then decamp in the nearest coffee shop for hot drinks and cake, and to read our new books.

My mum thinks this is the epitome of extravagance 🤣🤣

My dad used to do this with me as a teen. One of the few things we bonded over. They're some of my favourite childhood memories with him. Never stop.

I would have loved this as a kid, so much.

I went into Waterstones a few months ago and bought myself about five new books in one go. I didn't realise that they were relatively cheap, I'd always bought books second hand before. It seemed so extravagant!

FangsForTheMemory · 22/07/2021 22:30

The coffee, cake bookshop thing . . . my idea of heaven and I’m a grown up.

BrieAndChilli · 22/07/2021 22:31

I felt posh when DS2 was about 2 or 3 and we had popped into Waitrose (at the time the only supermarket in our nearest village) and while pushing him around in the trolley he said ‘mummy can I have a brie sandwich for lunch’

Moonwatcher1234 · 22/07/2021 22:31

@Etinox

We scrub up well. We rarely do, but on occasion, when we have to, we can look great. It’s a lovely feeling looking at my tribe and thinking, ‘what a smart family!’
Awww that’s lovely and I can definitely relate. However, the feeling lasts about 5 minutes because inevitably someone will spill or rip something.

Anyone who uses the word posh is not. You are safe. Enjoy your shorts (look at Vilebrequin or Orlebar Brown for posh)
She might not be posh, but she appears to have more class than you have, if your post is anything to go by.Hmm

You've got some treats to look forward to then.

Real Coke or Pepsi. We never had the real deal growing up, I only ever saw it at my fancy friends' houses.

Taxis - we always got the bus
Cafes - we would take packed lunches and coffee in a thermos flask when we went on day trips and never went into cafes.

Kipperandarthur · 22/07/2021 22:40

Only wanting your own private villa with pool and optional cleaning services throughout your stay. Add on private catering if wanted.

crystaltips98 · 22/07/2021 22:42

Grease proof paper! I have two rolls currently, oh the decadence

Teaandjam · 22/07/2021 22:42

Burberry has never recovered from the plethora of scarves, caps and even jackets in their print, worn by young lads walking around in groups with pitbulls.

Yes it has. The only group of people that think it’s still common is chavs I’m afraid Grin

doorornottodoor · 22/07/2021 22:43

We got ours in Argos, they're amazing!

bubblebath62636 · 22/07/2021 22:44

For me buying DD2 Next baby clothes 😍. They're so soft compared to where I had to shop for DD1 (Asda, Primark etc) and wash really well.

Do you own an aga or did you just want to do the workshop for fun?

Sorry I’ve just looked up Bodensee towelling shorts and I’m perplexed as to why you reckon they’re posh 🤔 The fabric isn’t expensive and they’re sort of gapey….I think they’re naff and chavvy for day time wear. I can see if you wore these things as transition wear post beach, that would be posh…but as actual attire, not posh. Chino shorts are posh. Salmon coloured twill shorts are posh. A thing that ideally requires ironing is posh. Towelling shorts are not posh.
