Help me - I’m trapped in a Seasalt jumpsuit

It’s the Treen Cove one, I’ve lusted after it since Siobhan wore it on Pottery Showdown. It went on with no issues, looks lovely, fits well and is flattering but…..

I’m stuck in the bloody thing. It’s been an hour and I can’t even free an arm despite unbuttoning it down as far as it will go.

Has anyone got this jumpsuit? Can you give me any tips on how to get out of it? I reckon I have about 2 hours before I need the loo.

Perhaps I should have gone for a size bigger for wiggle room knowing what I know now. I’m just going to post myself down to Seasalt HQ and let them deal with it.

@Freshprincess

There’s a scene in a film that I can’t remember the name of where the character Dislocates his shoulder to get out of a straight jacket. Could you try that? 😂

I have a lovely Ted Baker dress that I struggle to unzip when I’m ‘over refreshed’ As the buttons are teeny. I’ve slept in it once.

The shit that is in my brain. The film is Lethal Weapon.

(Google tells me Lethal Weapon 2 actually, my brain doesn’t retain fully accurate pointless facts.)

Try and get it off both shoulders if you can - hunch them down and forward, using the opposite hand to slide it over the shoulders.
If you can do that, you can then wriggle off one sleeve at a time.
(🤣😂😆😵 by the way - sorry!)

@Wombat36

Got trapped in a wetsuit once, I feel your pain. 😎
Me too! Height of summer and I had to sit really still for an hour until my husband came home as I was panicking and overheating!!
torquewench · 11/07/2021 17:35

I got trapped in the Treen Cove jumpsuit too 🙈 im not particularly long of back but it took me about 15 minutes to get it off. Had to drop it of both my shoulders and wiggle. Good luck!

I'm so so sorry @FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge but I'm howling here

You've reminded me of a horrible occasion when I had picked up a lovely jacket in Selfridges .. think it was Karen Millen
This snobby skinny cow sales assistant looked at me and said " that only goes up to a 12 "
I grabbed it and flounced into the changing room where I managed to get it on but was absolutely stuck shoulder wise and really thought I was going to need the fire brigade to get it off
I finally did and came out looking like I'd been up to no good in there
Marched to the till and bought it , it was like a Julia Roberts moment
£140 quid and 5 years later - it's still in my wardrobe with the tags on
Hope you are ok and don't need the fire brigade 🤭

There is no give in that bodice, is there. Short of unpicking the crotch, I can only suggest trying to relax your shoulder down and shimmy out of it.

GoWalkabout · 11/07/2021 17:39

Good luck OP we are all rooting for you.

MsFannySqueers · 11/07/2021 17:39

@Freshprincess I think it was Mel Gibson in one of the Lethal Weapon films when the baddies had him trussed up. With regard to the OP’s jumpsuit. It’s the panic they cause that’s the problem. I have a zip up jumpsuit Whistles. I got it in the sale at John Lewis. I have to do yoga breaths to calm me when I take it off. I second the shrugging it off both shoulders. I also find having a few sherbets helps me to relax ready for subsequent removal.

GoWalkabout · 11/07/2021 17:39

I have been stuck in many garments in changing rooms in my time.

godmum56 · 11/07/2021 17:40

@MrsMoastyToasty

I got trapped in an M&S sports bra once...
I got trapped halfway out of a Molke bra...DO NOT try them if you have neck and shoulder issues.

btw best thread EVER

PS I am a huge seasalt fan

longtompot · 11/07/2021 17:40

Do the buttons not undo all the way down the front? I hate getting stuck on clothing, especially in changing rooms. I get hotter and hotter which doesn't help one iota. Good luck @FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge hope the bed trick works!

Blowingagale · 11/07/2021 17:41

My downfall are Indian tops. Even the large ones are designed with slim arms in mind.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 11/07/2021 17:41

I've done it too last week. Think that was a sea salt one. Non stretchy material. I had to call dh to help who wasnt too happy as he was working. But my other alternative was to sit in meetings with my arms stuck slightly behind me and boobs on showBlush

FeministKilljoyOlympicWinner · 11/07/2021 17:42

Photo or it didn't happenGrin

Actually maybe we need a diagram, like a parking thread!

Sorry I can't help OP; I've always been wary of jumpsuits as I have a somewhat excitable digestive system. You've managed to confirm my fears....

Freshprincess · 11/07/2021 17:53

@Hoosi and @MsFannySqueers Lethal Weapon! Thank you I couldn’t think what to google to look it up.

Shoulder dislocation is definitely Plan B in this scenario.

Igneococcus · 11/07/2021 17:54

There isn't a hidden zip somewhere?

I have a top from Toast that I weaved myself in and out of in a snake-like fashion for the first year that I owned it until I discovered a zip in the side.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 11/07/2021 17:54

Are you out yet OP??

Do you need reinforcement sending with a pack of butter and a shoe horn?

I have a Boden Jumpsuit but it is very large and very stretchy, I have a mortal fear of stuck things...rings that won't come off, hair brushes/tongs in hair, fitted frocks.

MoltonSilver · 11/07/2021 17:56

Looking at the pictures, yeah I can see how that would happen. I think if you're bending you arms it's never coming off. Try slipping it past your shoulders then putting your arms by your sides. You might be able to get it to slide down you arms. It might be a two man job.

Northernlurker · 11/07/2021 17:56

I got stuck in a tweed shift dress in French Connection once. Took ages to get out. I thought I was going to have to rip it. I pretended I'd been in there mulling it over and given it lots of thought but sadly it was a no when I got out!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 11/07/2021 17:57

@Blowingagale

hell yes, I had a lovely Indian kurti top that was light and wafty over the wobbly bits and fitted and skimming on the boobs, but I could only wear that if there was someone in the house to grab hold of the hem while I bent over and backed out of it.
Hoppinggreen · 11/07/2021 18:00

Lube and a fish slice?
