Help me - I’m trapped in a Seasalt jumpsuit

It’s the Treen Cove one, I’ve lusted after it since Siobhan wore it on Pottery Showdown. It went on with no issues, looks lovely, fits well and is flattering but…..

I’m stuck in the bloody thing. It’s been an hour and I can’t even free an arm despite unbuttoning it down as far as it will go.

Has anyone got this jumpsuit? Can you give me any tips on how to get out of it? I reckon I have about 2 hours before I need the loo.

Perhaps I should have gone for a size bigger for wiggle room knowing what I know now. I’m just going to post myself down to Seasalt HQ and let them deal with it.

@DeRigueurMortis

Went for the Rose Trellis. Saving it for a couple of events😃

DM goes "has it got a panel underneath when you go to the loo"

How about you?

DeRigueurMortis · 24/07/2021 17:21

@woodhill

I got the Treen Cove like the OP and also the Rose Trellis (in midnight) which I'm currently wearing Grin

@DeRigueurMortis

I got the spring leaves one. I don't normally wear green but this is very flattering. Navy looks lovely

DeRigueurMortis · 24/07/2021 17:28

Funny isn't it....

Who knew a thread on "trapped" in a jumpsuit would be good marketing!!!

woodhill · 24/07/2021 17:33
Grin

I often buy things when reading threads.

I do like Seasalt and they do have good offers.

It's hard to buy natural fibres

beardeddragon174 · 24/07/2021 17:38

I feel your pain. I regularly get stuck in cheomgsams (traditional Chinese dress) and need to hold my arms above my head while my husband rolls it up and off me.

Glad you escaped!!!

SlipperTripper · 24/07/2021 18:52

So glad you're free OP. Did make me giggle though!

My lovely mum once got stuck in a bright red crocheted poncho, of all things. No idea how she did it, just couldn't manage her arms properly to get her head out, kept getting her fingers stuck too. No reason why, just a hilariously daft moment.

Much swearing at the big red spiderweb, while Step-dad and I just sat and laughed.

I was In Stratford upon Avon yesterday for a totally different reason .. and found ... a Seasalt shop ! Oh dear .. wonder if there is any OT going at work this month to replenish a very empty purse 🙄

I share your problem. I got stuck in the first cheongsam I tried on in a shop in Chinatown. Had to shout to my husband to rescue me. The shop assistant looked annoyed. Should I have asked her to help rather than my husband?
BikeRunSki · 25/07/2021 10:35

I gave up on jumpsuits after being stuck in a few. I tried one again recently and could just get it on, but not move. I have a long body, broad shoulders and big boobs. Similar body shape to Honey Monster. I now only wear all in ones if I have to wear overalls for work, and even then they are ginormous to be long enough.

CheerfulBunny · 25/07/2021 11:08

Hooray! This thread is still going Grin As someone with wide shoulders who has been heaved out of numerous dresses by my mum and various other people over the years, I am loving these stories. Even just reading them gives me that panicky, trapped feeling.

Agreed it's good the thread is still going. My worst 'trapped feeling' was when I wore a Victorian costume to a fancy dress do. Gown, crinoline and corset and I needed the loo partway through the evening. How!!!
HunkyPunk · 25/07/2021 16:20

Every time I read the thread title on TIO, it sounds in my head like the start of a poem, so here's my attempt, inspired by, but not an historically accurate representation of, the thread!

I'm trapped in a Seasalt jumpsuit,
And I simply can't get out.
I've tried the zips,
If something rips
It'll be my fault, no doubt.

I'm trapped in a Seasalt jumpsuit.
I've wiggled and I've
winced.
Is this my size?
They're full of lies,
Of that I am convinced.

I'm trapped in a Seasalt jumpsuit,
And lying on the floor.
I want to shout
"Please cut me out!"
Are the neighbours near my door?

I'm trapped in a Seasalt jumpsuit.
I've grimaced and I've gurned
I'm all alone,
So as I'm prone,
To Mumsnet I have turned.

Oh, Mumsnet please,
Please help me.
I've really had enough.
I'm trapped in a Seasalt jumpsuit.
Now come and do your stuff!

AnnieSnap · 25/07/2021 18:14

That’s brilliant @HunkyPunk You should send it to Seasalt with a link to the thread!

66babe · 25/07/2021 18:21

That is wonderful @HunkyPunk
Really made me smile
💐

HunkyPunk · 25/07/2021 19:14

Grin thanks! A truly inspirational thread!

Jennyw12 · 27/07/2021 11:37

Great poem. Had the neighbour quandary last night. Could't reach the back zip of my jumpsuit. Is it better to sleep in it or seek help next door?

AnnieSnap · 27/07/2021 13:13

@Jennyw12 it depends on the neighbour

woodhill · 27/07/2021 14:42

I've gone away and there is a Seasalt shop in the vicinity

Jennyw12 · 27/07/2021 14:43

Had no choice as I needed the loo! Unfortunately the wife wasn't it so had to ask her husband. He didn't seem to mind!

Sweetpea1532 · 27/07/2021 22:07

@HunkyPunk
Put to music, Your poem would also make a great song!😂

I can't believe people are so calm. I get what I can only describe as claustrophobia when stuck in things and have a panic attack. I tend to buy stretch things or clothes with zips on. Certain dresses and tops, I won't even attempt to try on. Just reading this thread makes me feel panicky 😓
Me too. I’ve been stuck so many times. I thought I was going to be found dead in a Primark changing room last time I got stuck. I just have to feel to wrong kind of fabric and I get shivers down my spine and feel panic. Can’t stand dresses or anything that might be slightly tight as they make me feel claustrophobic. Every time I’ve been stuck I look like I’ve been put in a straight jacket, deadly combination of big boobs and short arms. Although, I did find one dress that was fairly stretchy until I noticed it fastened at the back with a tiny button that would be difficult for me to undo. Why are so many women’s clothes so weirdly restrictive?
Jennyw12 · 28/07/2021 12:23

I agree about the weirdly restrictive and wonder id designers sometimes do it deliberately. I had a lovely jumpsuit but it buttoned up the back. That meant my husband had to help me get it on and off but what do you do if you're out and need the loo?

PussGirl · 28/07/2021 14:29

As teenagers a group of us used to go into town & try on the worst items of clothing we could find, just to have a laugh in the communal changing rooms in various shops.

It once took the other three several minutes to get me out of a bright green, tight satin number with ruffles & a peplum (it was the early 80s) in somewhere like Dorothy Perkins.

Totally hideous frock & I didn't have the money to waste on buying something I'd never wear Grin

Used to hate communal changing rooms. I would often get a dress stuck over my head and never sure whether to ask for help or just wait until someone helped. Have you faced that?
