I bloody love a nice hotel. What is your favourite hotel you’ve stayed in?

Mine would be:
Crowne Plaza Changi (Singapore) and got upgraded to the roof terrace suite. Absolutely loved it.
The Langham Hong Kong and stayed in the junior suite!

The Brickhouse Inn, Gettysburg, for a wonderful American experience. Not only are you near the battlefield, in a house of the period filled with antique furniture & quilts etc, but the owners are brilliant & you have breakfast in the beautiful garden when it's fine. We shared a beakfast table with different amazing people each morning.

Headland hotel in Newquay. I went every year as a child and had the most idyllic holidays there. I’ve been to more extravagant ones internationally but to me this is the quintessential hotel and nothing lives up!

It is apparently the only outdoor pool in the Baltics.

The message must have gotten mixed up, I can confirm there are plenty of outdoor pools in Baltics.

Le manoir in Oxfordshire. Go for dinner too, perfect weekend away.

Ooh, @mumsgirls, been there! Didn't stay but looked around. That bridge gave me the willies, though!

Swissotel, Chicago on a work trip (in a previous life).
Had a beautiful room overlooking Lake Michigan.

The Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Absolutely gorgeous. Everything about it - the rooms, the pool, the grounds, the path to the beach, the amazing service.

I doubt I'll ever be able to afford to stay there again as it's now so popular the prices are through the roof. Maybe I'll just go to the bar and pretend I'm a guest.

Taking notes! This sounds like fun.

I loved Claridges but I beg to differ on the soundproofing. We had a suite and I had to get up at 3am to tell my neighbours to shut up.

Shangri-La at the Shard in London. It was incredible. I still cry when I think about it.

Phulay Bay, in Krabi. The illusion of walking on water when you first arrive is breathtaking and the suites had 12ft long beds. Amazing place.

Second PP's who have said Le Manoir, like floating on a cloud from the moment you enter until you re enter the horrible real world again!

This was the most amazing place and we had it to ourselves for three nights on honeymoon utter, utter bliss:

Nicest b&b was the25 in Torquay, such lovely chaos who run it.

Nicest hotel was magic castle hotel in la/Hollywood. Amazing service, free sweets! A magician at breakfast! Washed your laundry for free too (I just got my travel outfit done)

Nicest room, corner suite in vdara in Vegas. As big as my flat.

Edgyandstressed · 06/07/2021 21:42

@Mumsgirls

Coronado in San Diego, where they filmed ‘ some like it hot’
Glad to hear it's great because I'd love to stay there. Escaped from a conference to relax on the beach outside.

Gosh, all this is giving me hotel envy! I love The Grand in York but I can't compare it with all the hotels in exotic places mentioned here.

The Saltzburgerhof in Zell am See Austria.

Ceylon Tea Trails in Sri Lanka - each of the residences only has four or five rooms so a super personal experience. On our last night there we were the only guests in our bungalow so approximate staff to guest ratio of 3:1...
