I bloody love a nice hotel. What is your favourite hotel you’ve stayed in?

Mine would be:
Crowne Plaza Changi (Singapore) and got upgraded to the roof terrace suite. Absolutely loved it.
The Langham Hong Kong and stayed in the junior suite!

The Balmoral in Edinburgh was very nice.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 06/07/2021 20:52

We loved l’archipel on Praslin in the Seychelles.
Also, many years ago, loved St David’s in Cardiff - that was more because we’d had 5 days of hard partying and got to St David’s and basically lived in the spa. Bliss.

I am not well travelled at all, and I am also weird. Best (and most interesting) was the Smiler room in Alton Towers resort Grin

Like I said, I am not well travelled!

I ended up in Bangkok on my own on Christmas Eve so splurged on one night in a lovely hotel with a roof top pool. Can’t remember the name (sorry) but they upgraded me to a suite and it was amazing. Especially after having backpacked in shitty hostels for a month previous. I also spent one night with a friend in the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur during that trip which was pretty luxurious and a break from slumming it too.

For London. The Goring. Service is impeccable but not showey, or in your face.

Coombe Abbey in Coventry. I’ve not been for a few years but the rooms and restaurant are stunning.

I doubt that anyone here will ever visit this hotel but..

The Restart Hotel in Rezekne, Latvia. My husband goes there for work every year and I tag along to keep him company.

It was the first time we stayed there in 2019, after we ditched the much more grim hotel in the town centre. We had a huge room, a massive bed, a fab bathroom and awesome facilities. The outside heated pool was bloody brilliant. It is apparently the only outdoor pool in the Baltics.

It used to be a bit of a chore going over there every year but we have really missed it. Riga is bloody fabulous for a weekend away. Great shops, bars and restaurants.

Redsquirrel5 · 06/07/2021 21:09

The Balmoral, Edinburgh.

The Furama, Singapore. I have stayed here about 8 times. There is a swimming pool on the fifth floor outside. Hardly anyone uses it. I would like to stay in Raffles Hotel sometime.

The Park, Amsterdam. DH won a week stay we had a suite with a mezzanine bedroom.

Marriott, Sydney. Upgraded as they had overbooked. We had a suite overlooking the Opera House.

It was a five star hotel in London. It used to be called Chancery Court in Holborn but it was sold a few years ago and I've never been back. It was one of those hotels that used to host Masterchef chefs dinners with the final three contestants. I loved that hotel

DorothyBastard · 06/07/2021 21:10

Claridge’s is second to none. Decor, service, food & drink; all impeccable. And the rooms are 100% silent and pitch black. Heaven.

Amanjiwo, Indonesia. Everything was perfect.

Pink Sands on Eluthera.

The Taj is on my hit list now!

Edgyandstressed · 06/07/2021 21:17

I've been very lucky, usually due to work:

  • Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur - extraordinary marble bathtub in my suite, and they trotted out the maharajah to have dinner with us
  • Four Seasons, Hong Kong - an infinity pool with a skyscraper skyline (and great childcare as I was travelling with 5 month old)
  • Palazzo Abadessa, Venice - the private, shaded courtyard garden is a real luxury; palatial duplex suites
Restlessinthenorth · 06/07/2021 21:18

@AbsolutelySure I used to walk past that hotel on my way to work every day and look at the really pretty windows in their restaurant, Pearl. Always meant to go, but never did....
