I bloody love a nice hotel. What is your favourite hotel you’ve stayed in?

Mine would be:
Crowne Plaza Changi (Singapore) and got upgraded to the roof terrace suite. Absolutely loved it.
The Langham Hong Kong and stayed in the junior suite!

@Blogdog I got engaged at Adare manor . Staff were wonderful .
Can't believe all those who like the westbury in Dublin- so dark and food is meh. The Merrion is so much nicer.
My favourite UK hotel is lime wood in the new forest .
I'd love to
Stay at the Torrington in Scotland .

AuntieMarys · 07/07/2021 21:33

Lindos Blu

Congratulations @Carriemac - what a wonderful start to married life! It’s just lovely and I agree that the staff are amazing. I’m with you on the Westbury (although to be fair I haven’t stayed in it) - it feels a bit underwhelming to me. Lovely at Christmas though when the decorations are up.

The Sheraton near Dubrovnik, absolutely amazing hotel in a beautiful setting that I would book again in a heartbeat!

sdg31000 · 07/07/2021 22:09

Another vote here for La Rosa. Stay in The La Rosa room or Sacre Coeur for the best view in England

Gotthetshirt23 · 07/07/2021 22:43

The Turret suite at Swinton Park .
Amazing .

The Four Seasons in Vancouver!

LunaNorth · 08/07/2021 07:51

Claridges for old-fashioned glamour, although I don’t rate the restaurant any more. What they did to dining room is criminal.

The Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando for the breakfasts.

The Four Seasons New York for friendly service. Really welcoming and fun.

I’m really fond of One Aldwych in London. The bar is amazing; they have the most gorgeous Christmas decorations and floral displays; the staff are friendly and the restaurant is completely gluten-free. As a coeliac, the feeling of being able to relax and choose whatever I want to eat is priceless, and the food is always delicious. Good location, too.

After being woken up by the dc 3 times in the 7 hours I was in bed/asleep last night, the urge to book one of these for a solo trip is almost overwhelming!

Sheerheight · 08/07/2021 16:35

The Novotel in Edinburgh is the best UK based hotel, free upgrade.

Doublestar · 08/07/2021 16:52

God, I forgot Sandy Lane in Barbados - now that was an experience to remember! We have the best memories from staying there.

wordsareveryunnecessary · 08/07/2021 20:00

It was lovely but we didn't get an upgrade

tattygirl · 08/07/2021 22:06

The Ahwahnee Hotel-Yosemite National Park. The most amazing setting.
Disney’s Polynesian Hotel-Florida. Fantastic theming.
Dar Al Masyaf-Dubai. Ocean front suite was perfect.
Lamp Lighter Inn-Carmel, California. Quirky, small, great location.

MrsTumbletap · 08/07/2021 22:06

Queenie6655 · 08/07/2021 22:10

DiscoGlitterBall · 08/07/2021 22:23

One of the best that I stayed in is the Hotel Monaco in Washington DC.

We were upgraded to a corner suite even though we had booked through Hotwire (from memory). We were there to see a very special concert. On the day of the concert the receptionist printed a picture of the lead singer and left a hand written note for us to say enjoy our gig!

They also had fish you could have in your room if you missed your pet from home.

Nothing was too much for them and it was just lovely. It actually wasn’t about the physical building (which was centrally located and beautiful), but the staff. The personal touches just made it (and they had a free cocktail hour every night!)

DiscoGlitterBall · 08/07/2021 22:33

Sorry and another - best B&b (if you could ever call it that) was the Historic Oak Hill Inn in Natchez, MS. Mint Julep and freshly baked cookie on arrival, room filled with antiques and four poster bed, personal tour of the house by the owners (better than any of the museums we went to), the most fabulous four course home made breakfast served on antique China and set in such a wonderful town.

There are other antebellum homes but this was exceptional

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 08/07/2021 23:00

I've stayed in many posh places. Mostly for work. The Fairmont in Monaco, the New York Palace, but my favourite was The Clarence in Dublin.

A) most comfortable bed ever.
B) the Edge did actually pop by reception

Lemonmelonsun · 08/07/2021 23:28

Can it stay Bere then go to the classics please.

Hairbrush123 · 08/07/2021 23:40

Might be really obvious but how do I move this thread to Classics? I am honestly oblivious but want to move it. Thanks!

Report it to MNHQ and ask them. Not sure it's Classics worthy tbh. Helpful, but Classics isn't really about helpful stuff.
TheVampiresWife · 09/07/2021 09:31

The Witchery, Edinburgh.

Gotthetshirt23 · 09/07/2021 09:35

Another vote for The Ahwahnee in Yosemite.
Amazing place.
