We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

What a Grade A CF - I would be painting your number on the bin in very large font as soon as it is returned.

I live in a block of 4 HA flats on the end of a terraced street and technically all four of the bins are "communal" but all residents just mutually agreed we would take one each so we just used stickers rather rather anything permanent. My bin was stolen 3 weeks in a row by a neighbour who removed the sticker from my bin and took it each bin day. I knew it was mine as there was a jagged crack in corner of the lid in an unusual shape but I couldn't prove it when the neighbour feigned ignorance when I went round so had to keep stealing it back.

This finally stopped when I went round for the last time and asked for my bin back and they told me to prove it was mine, at which point I lifted the lid and showed them where I had painted my address on the inside of the lid because I knew they wouldn't check inside before they stole it (they hadn't noticed as it was still bin day and they had clearly only opened it to check it was empty and not lifted the lid enough to see the paint) and they were forced to concede that they "might have taken in the wrong bin earlier". Shockingly enough my bin never went walkabout after that

We have had our bins cleaned once or twice and you can definitely tell the difference. Also, lots of places don't bag recycling so they do get grimey. What a cheeky man.

I’ve had a look. DH and bin stealer plus bin stealers wife are standing by the bins. Bin is open. DH has his teacher face on (he’s a secondary school teacher). Can’t see bin stealers face but bin stealers wife’s eyebrows are so far up her forehead they’re going to take off in a minute.

Tbh I think you shouldn't confront him, but should film him next time and send it to the local paper.

How does a bin get dirty? Everything’s in bin bags!

In my local area there are no bin bags allowed in the wheelie bins - it all has to be loose and anything in a bin bag will not be taken and your bin will be red tagged (counts towards a fine).

I had a bin cleaner man. Cleaned it once and never saw him again. Asked him for a regular clean. He’s always advertising on FB so I don’t know why.

Used to have a bin cleaner years ago and the bin came back smelling lovely and clean and warm. This recent chap used cold water.

We started having it cleaned when I was Pregnant because any bin smell made me heave. You’d be surprised how gross they get!
