We pay a company to clean our bins once a month on bin day. I’m not usually home when they come, but I’m off work today And happened to be in the kitchen. I watched my next door neighbour wait until the cleaner left, take the house number sticker off my bin and put it on his, then swap our bin for his so he had the cleaned bin and I had a non-cleaned one.

He was back in his house before I had time to contain the dog and go outside but now DH is home, WIBU to go round and ask for my bin back??

@JackieWeaversAuthorityHere

DH is home WITH THE BIN. Victory is ours!

Apparently he made a half hearted attempt to argue that ‘wheelie bins are council property not personal property’ but apparently DH asked whether that meant he was allowed to steal our cleaned bin and he said ‘its not stealing, it’s not your bin!’ Hmm

When they were standing outside, DH was asking them to remove their bag of rubbish from the bin so he could take it back. Binstealers wife said DH was being petty and to just leave the bins how they were. DH said he’d be happy to, but she needed to pay us the £9 for the bin cleaning or come over with her marigolds and get scrubbing Grin

I love that man I do. He’s extremely pleased with himself and I’ve not seen him this cock sure for years!

👏👏👏👏👏 Brilliant

For all the pps suggesting OP should have filmed him or should if it happens again, he might still do it if he knew or suspected there was a camera. He might want to get caught or not care, thinking he is untouchable as a local bigwig. There might even be a frisson of excitement. Look at Matt Hancock, after all. He's not Matt Hancock, is he - with another secret woman?!

PopAyetheSailorMam · 30/06/2021 12:32

Agree with a Maggie T sticker for bin and daub in paint “this bin is not for turning” in a speech bubble. As well as your house number on the back of bin.

Ddot · 30/06/2021 14:37

So If the bin is not your property, why if its stolen do you have to pay £25 for another. Do you then have the right to just take soneone else's bin. What a complete arse

Mix56 · 30/06/2021 14:56

The bin may not be yours, but the clean surface on the inside is !!!!
You pay for it, they are stealing, they know full well, they will have been watching the bin cleaners come.
Sometimes you hope the rag tabloids would lift a thread. You could be famous.
Photo on front page in your pinny !

Ddot · 30/06/2021 16:03

OP have you pimped your bin yet 🤣

Blackcat333 · 30/06/2021 19:26

This is brilliant, what a great idea hahahaha haha

Owl55 · 30/06/2021 19:47

Use his bin for your rubbish

londonscalling · 01/07/2021 05:53

Although you may not necessarily officially own the bin, ethically you do. Like many Conservatives at the moment, he appears to be lacking in ethics!

Barmychick · 01/07/2021 10:56

c.f. +++😂😂😂

We're moving this over to Classics now and awarding the OP's DH an honourary Mumsnet Victory Over CFs medal.

@HebeMumsnet

We're moving this over to Classics now and awarding the OP's DH an honourary Mumsnet Victory Over CFs medal.
An honorary medal! Tadaaaaa! Though really he deserves a proper award ceremony with massed bands and a procession of refuse collecting lorries and bin cleaning vans.

And remember how gold medal winners at the 2012 had post boxes painted gold in their honour? Just a thought, it would stop any future confusion for one thing Smile

stillcrazyafterall · 05/07/2021 11:47

You (and DH) take the award for the year. I am so tired of reading on here about people scared of their own shadow even when they're in the right. Well done and give your DH a high 5 from me! What a bloody hero.

Guavaf1sh · 05/07/2021 13:47

Well done! I now think even more strongly that a film version of this is desperately needed

Ddot · 05/07/2021 14:50

Bank holiday in his honour

KnightandDay · 05/07/2021 15:38

Woo hoo classics! Grin
Maybe one of these guys for your bin?
