Disclaimer - I love animals and im fascinated by them! But truly some have an aura of menace about them...
To start, I give you the Shoebill Stork. Not dangerous or anything but...disconcerting.

Black Rain Frog. Like an avocado with a face.

Ah I think the black rain frog’s sad face is adorable! I also love sloths but can see how their movements could freak people out.
Snakes freak me out - their faces/ eyes don’t look real to me. Some creepy looking animals on this thread.
My personal ones: any kind of ape (can be so vicious and I don’t trust them at all), goats eyes are scary, though I don’t mind goats generally. Also I find dolphins scary. They’re just so huge and there’s no way I would ever dream of swimming with one!
I use to love raccoons for their looks and clever resourcefulness (I am aware if I lived in America I would prob think otherwise). We went to a wildlife sanctuary which had a gang of them. Highlight of the visit for me was seeing their adorable faces until they caught sight of a child just behind us. He was well away from them and on the other side of the fence but their whole manner was quite scary. They were filled with rage, hissing and snarling and baring their teeth at him. Quite scary and I am in no doubt that if the fence hadn’t been there, they would have ripped the poor child to shreds. Never have a seen a wild animal look more ‘wild’ than those raccoons

I saw some aye aye at the zoo once and they were scarey.

I'm sorry to ruin everyone's day but it has to be the coin spider, which has a truncated abdomen.

Animals with extreme looks that humans have bred for recreation, especially dogs - flat faces, tiny legs, hairless and shivering - anything that causes uncomfortable conditions for the dog. It makes me feel guilty that we did that, when you hear a pug or Frenchie struggling to breathe normally.

Naked mole rat definitely wins the thread!!

Red lipped bat fish, wow! Never seem that before 😳

I recently stumbled across a photo of the inside of a turtle's mouth. Terrifying.

Trumps all my other fears, rational or otherwise. Maggots, foxes, eels, bull terriers, and I had to Google that shoebill bird thing cos it looks like some hybrid fictional animal!

Aww I love shoebill storks. Komodo dragons are my worst nightmare.

I hate all monkeys. Sorry, monkeys. Chimpanzees are the most horrifying. I have read too many stories of people, who usually live in the USA, getting seriously attacked by this animal kept as a pet and treated like a child.

Orangutans, but mostly because they eat baby lorises, which WHAT. I thought they were herbivores.

Those maned wolves just look so wrong.

But my least favourite (apart from spiders) is the jerboa. It looks incomplete.

Jerboa! It's been short-changed in the limb department somehow...

I learned today that sperm whales sleep vertically. Creepy and kind of beautiful.

The pootoo bird looks like it has been taxidermized while still alive.

I cannot and will not stand for pointy-dog hate, they are the great types of dog
