Disclaimer - I love animals and im fascinated by them! But truly some have an aura of menace about them...
To start, I give you the Shoebill Stork. Not dangerous or anything but...disconcerting.

@Smolgoose

Kangaroos that look like big muscly men are disturbing.

I'm mind own by the moose, I thought they were around the size of a red deer.

Does the poster who mentioned dogs with stretched faces mean a bull terrier? Every bull terrier i've met has been lovely, but the poor things look like they should be cockney gangsters, running a protection racket and talking about what nice young lads the krays were whilst chainsmoking. Poor dogs.

As the owner of one of these dogs this description proper made me lol Grin

I can attest they are big softies, in fact mine is often referred to by DS as "a totally wet wipe" and apparently that's all my fault for treating him like a baby Hmm

I’m quite disturbed by the toad. I have a phobia of tiny things in tiny holes. Well, a very strong revulsion anyway. And that’s the worst the I’ve seen.

FrangipaniBlue · 24/06/2021 09:43

The spider with its babies on its back, the road with the holes and that bloody mole!!

WTAfuckityF????

0ntheg0again · 24/06/2021 09:49

Muntjac deer, just the weirdest looking deer ever, looks like a pig in deer shape

aggathapanthus · 24/06/2021 09:51

Beagles, something very alarming about them.

Silvercatowner · 24/06/2021 10:06

Cows. I was fine with them until I went on a walk and encountered a herd of them - THANK GOD they were on the other side of the fence to the footpath. The whole herd followed us the length of the field (long field) staring at silently the whole way. I have a feeling that had the fence not been there we wouldn't've survived...

Those worms that live under the sea bed. Also urchins and spiky anemones. Triggerfish with bitey teeth are scary too.

I hate lots of monkeys - too human looking with their hands and mannerisms.

I hate the pointy face dogs - they look like rough men you’d be scared to walk past outside a pub.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 24/06/2021 10:46

@DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat

Black Rain Frog. Like an avocado with a face.
This is brilliant! Grin

I'm going to blame Oliver Twist for associating English bulldogs with thuggish men - poor Bullseye, with Bill Sikes for a master!
LadyR77 · 24/06/2021 16:42

Oh the black rain frog is quite sweet - its sad little face! That toad with the egg holes on its back though.....urgh!!!

Soubriquet · 24/06/2021 16:44

The black rain frog also sounds like a little squeaky toy Grin

MrsFlump · 24/06/2021 17:13

Someone said gorillas - noo, they are my favourite animal!

@Thelnebriati

I'm sorry to ruin everyone's day but it has to be the coin spider, which has a truncated abdomen.
Does my bum look big .....Smile
Soubriquet · 24/06/2021 18:11

They are highly venomous too though…so don’t mistake it for a real coin and try and pick it up Grin

Shorthairlady · 24/06/2021 18:24

Slow worms. They upset me on so many levels. The way they move and that unnatural shininess. I showed one to my mum once and she was genuinely worried that such things actually exist. She googled them and is now an expert on them having been absolutely appalled yet strangely fascinated at the same time. Grin

Poorlykitten · 24/06/2021 19:14

There’s also this..

lettie9 · 24/06/2021 19:33

Wtf re ocean sunfish - it's grotesque!

I'm glad someone stood up for the blob fish earlier. They only look like that on land. They normally inhabit deep sea (3000 ft), where water pressure gives their body structure. Once they're pulled up on land, they decompress, and turn into that jelly mess.

ChubbyMsSunshine · 24/06/2021 19:41

@Soubriquet

There's an animal that has holes in its back which its eggs are in.? Something like that. Eeewwwwww.

A type of toad called the Surinam toad

That's the winner right there. WTF??
Thelnebriati · 24/06/2021 20:15

Trypophobia, anyone?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 24/06/2021 20:15

I like the avocado frog. It’s cute

aggathapanthus · 24/06/2021 20:16

Also, humans. Scary as hell.

FrankiesKnuckle · 24/06/2021 20:18

I caught a spider crab on Animal Crossing (Nintendo switch game) gave me the willies, and it's only an animated version 😂

TulipWoodpecker · 24/06/2021 21:25

I wish I hadn't put this thread in Chat -it will disappear and it's been enlightening (in an often horrifying way).

Report it and ask Mumsnet to move it.

Thelnebriati · 24/06/2021 21:33

Has anyone posted the completely harmless house centipede (scutigera)?
