There has been so much huffing and puffing around the house about how tired he is that I think he wants everyone to know.

Love this thread Grin

I always get 'how did you sleep last night?' Which is a cue for him to complain that I was tossing and turning and kept him up. I've started responding 'you didn't sleep' but he's not got the hint.

Worst ever was when he complained about a non existent sniffle while sitting in a room with two people recovering from cancer. He was promptly evicted and didn't show much shame even when I pointed out he'd complained about a tickly nose to people undergoing chemotherapy...

ChickenFriedFudge · 10/07/2020 18:49

I'm so sorry to hear yours has been hit by the same affliction as mine. It's truly a concerning ailment. The oddest symptom appears to be being exhausted throughout the day, sleeping on the sofa until 7PM, and yet suddenly being wide awake at night and not going to bed until 3AM like some nocturnal cunty owl.
Most strange.

Allsloppy · 10/07/2020 18:50

Mandemic Grin
Mine has been dropping in conversations that he thinks he has chronic fatigue syndrome. I just carry on as he would be virtually immobile but still walks the dog and does his hobby. However it has affected him being able to do jobs round the house or garden.

Changednamesorry · 10/07/2020 18:52

In our house there have been a lot of announcements about having sanded and varnished the kitchen worktop.

vanillandhoney · 10/07/2020 18:52

Mine told me he had to go for a poo earlier.

Vital information apparently Hmm

Bettercallsaul1 · 10/07/2020 18:57

@BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb

Who was the MNer whose DH greeted her at the door with the alarming news that he had been "slipping in and out of consciousness"? She finally ascertained that he had, in fact, been dozing on the sofa.

I could lapse in and out of consciousness just reading about these DHs....

@ChickenFriedFudge “nocturnal cunty owl“... I’m howling! Mine does that too, it is indeed a strange phenomena.

KetoWinnie · 10/07/2020 19:00

@Onekidnoclue

It must be serious. My DH is only ever EXTREMELY TIRED when I mention that I’m whacked. Apparently his 9-5 is just as tiring as my first trimester exhaustion plus three yo wrangling... oh! And my full time job too! Honestly it’s incredible, he’s so strong though. Too weak to unload the dishwasher but assured me he has the strength to go to the pub... what a solider 🥳
Hilarious. I sit at my desk all day and it's not like looking after two kids was. Delighted to be a single parent to teenagers. Life is much easier now.

Thoughts and prayers. X

Mine has gone back to work after more than three months on furlough. i have worked all the way through, and supervised 3 children schooling at home.

I have no5 provided the required level of sympathy, mainly because 3 months on furlough did not give him time to help with housework. The garden looks great, but why can’t he hoover?

He did actually get admitted to hospital last month. I knew he was bad when he called the GP for an appointment himself (telephone appointment , see GP in person then A&E)

FlamingoAndJohn · 10/07/2020 19:05

I’ve come home from my walk.
Put away the food shopping delivery.
Started dinner and swept the kitchen floor while I did so.

He has stopped complaining.

I love that. Like he’s never been to sleep before.

Oh, the huffing and puffing! The deep sighs? What are they for? I never ask - I'm not rising to it.

CarrieMoonbeams · 10/07/2020 19:09

I hope part of the dinner will include some homemade chicken soup OP - not too hot mind - so that you can gently spoon some in to the wee soul's mouth. Bless him.

Sandii · 10/07/2020 19:13

Has it directly affected his voice ? When mine is tired he suddenly has the voice of a weak 80 year old lady ...

sussexmum · 10/07/2020 19:16

mine is so tired he cant even close the bathroom door when he does a wee

Muchtoomuchtodo · 10/07/2020 19:16

One bad night’s sleep and DH has been telling me all day how tired he is. Not to worry that he’s been furloughed since April and I’ve been redeployed to work on covid wards,

He has has joggers of doom and I know we’re in for a rough ride when they come out!

I’m thinking of taking them to the fabric recycling skip when I next go the the tip!

DinosApple · 10/07/2020 19:18

DH apparently tires after twelve hours...

You know, that ideal routine for 3-6yo waking at 7, going to bed at 7... That's what DH reckons he should be doing. When I point out he's usually asleep on the sofa by 8pm it doesn't go down well 😂.

Tonight though, I've out tireded him. I've been to work and had a strop when I got home saying I'm knackered. He's cooking dinner.
Maybe that's what I need to do regularly, just get in first with how knackered I am...

AlwaysDancing1234 · 10/07/2020 19:22

I had a hospital appointment yesterday for minor procedure and biopsy. Feeling a bit fragile but despite this I have emptied dishwasher, tidied up, worked (from home) for 6 hours and laundered the bedding and remade the beds.

He “cooked” dinner (put pizza in the oven) and is huffing and puffing hanging up the laundry.

Asked him to bath DD - he will do it tomorrow as he’s so very tired.

Give me strength Angry

AlwaysDancing1234 · 10/07/2020 19:23

God yes! Baggy grey joggers!

avocadotofu · 10/07/2020 19:25

I think it must a serious male illness that is currently very catching indeed because mine has had the same symptoms for a whole week. It's incredibly difficult when you suffer from man tired! I hope your DH pulls through. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Seapatrol · 10/07/2020 19:25

As a lurking DH on here, I feel I should defend my fellow menfolk... but I just don't have the energy.
