It’s a parking one!

Get on fine with house next door. Kids play etc.

About a year ago, her sister started coming to visit every single day. Weekends too. Fine. None of my business.

So we both have double drives and both have two cars. DH also has a motorbike but there’s space to keep it on our drive.

I work from home so I’m out to drop the dc to school then pretty much back for the whole morning. DH is gone in his car from maybe 7am. Motorbike stays on drive until weekends really.

So next door’s sister has a big 7-seater. But she’s taken to partially blocking our drive with it so next door’s car can get in and out.

So she parks up in the morning, partially blocks my drive. And then sometimes they’ll head out in next door’s car and my drive will be blocked.

I can (with ball-achey manoeuvring) get my car on. But if anyone was to visit, or DH was to come home, they couldn’t park on the drive. And they can’t park in front of my house without then blocking other next door’s.

It gives me the fucking rage! It’s so inconsiderate! I’ve said it to next door’s and her answer has been to knock in if I ever need her to move.

DH is so laid back he’s horizontal so he doesn’t see it as a big deal. But it’s just so selfish and irritating.

I’ve come back and parked up right behind her, as in touching the bumper, so I haven’t blocked other next door’s.

WIBU to roll the motorbike out and block her car?? If I put it sideways it won’t block the drive I don’t think.

I hope I’m explaining properly. I need to try to figure out how to post a diagram!

I’m considering driving 7 hours to get a ferry to come across with my massive old Landrover in support of you OP!

ny20005 · 02/03/2020 22:39

My dh rolled his eyes until I showed him Garda Olaf & now he's as invested as me 😂

I have family in Connaught, I'm sure I could muster up a tractor to block her car if necessary 😂

PrincessButtockUp · 02/03/2020 22:46

My congratulations on an awesome parking thread OP, inspired! Hope things settle down from now on,

Hollyhobbi · 02/03/2020 23:03

Loving Garda Olaf too OP. Is next door neighbours husband a Civil Servant by any chance?! Although there probably aren't a lot in Connacht with nearly everything being in Dublin! His attitude is so out of dateAngry.

Symbollove · 02/03/2020 23:09

Absolutely brilliant! Never laughed at a thread so hard ensuring I don't pee myself at the same time 🤣
Can't wait to hear where the bull parks tomorrow, wonder if she will defy her sister and block you anyway

ozymandiusking · 02/03/2020 23:09

Speak to the police. She is restricting you access to the highway and that is illegal.

Serendipity79 · 02/03/2020 23:25

I’ve followed this through the day and I have to say it’s the funniest and most entertaining thread ever. I have some parking issues with my neighbours and can totally understand how frustrating it is. How you handled the conversation with them is pure brilliance.

I simply can’t handle the PSP though. Seriously your NDN needs to return to the 1930’s with that attitude! Only men can fix the world hey?? 😂😂

LangSpartacusCleg · 02/03/2020 23:32

When you first went round and Neighbour’s Sister answered the door, was Neighbour nearby? Does Neighbour definitely know you asked for the car to be moved? And that Neighbour’s Sister was a bitch and blew you off?

If Neighbour knows, I’d prepare for war. But if Neighbour doesn’t know, then perhaps she should and would perhaps help you enforce reasonable parking?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 02/03/2020 23:32

Oh what a joy this thread was to come back to this morning! (In Australia)

I LOVE Garda Olaf and the idea of the Little Tikes car, although I still think perhaps just moving the bin fort back to the edge of your boundary would be a good plan too, as reinforcement. Garda Olaf could keep watch over it.

I feel a little sorry for drippy NDN as it's quite likely that the Bull bullies her too - she may not have wanted to stay out as long as they did but was forced into it. But who knows - she might be just as bad but more PA about it.

I died laughing at the PSP - brilliant! Don't blame him for not coming over to cross cucumbers swords with you tonight, he'd have lost! What a dick he is, for sure.

You're amazing, OhCaptain - my new hero!

Mamawingingit1234 · 02/03/2020 23:35

Howling at this! Place marking for tomorrow

Youcunnyfunt · 02/03/2020 23:40

Amazing! Definitely placemarking for tomorrow

Winesalot · 03/03/2020 05:43

ohcaptain my CF Parker hero!!!

That was simply awe inspiring. The Bull-calf was picked up late an all, so sad. If I’d realised I’d put my NDN out to that degree, I’d at least be around with a box of Twix and that’d be just for that day. Let alone for how long I’d allowed the inconvenience. What an absolute shocker!!! And PSP is a rooster!!!

I am thinking that Olaf is inspired. When the school across the road from me reopens their street access door (they have locked it for maintenance) and I have my steady stream of CF Parker’s back, I am setting up an Olaf with a sign saying something along the lines of don’t park here. Maybe I should word it so that the kids getting out of the car shame their CF Parker parents.... like Olaf says parking here is dangerous for other kids!!! (it blocks visibility for other kids crossing to the school gate on a very narrow street that should be one way and they are on double yellow lines anyway.)

Winningatseesaw · 03/03/2020 07:15

Literally the best parking thread ever. Looking forward to seeing an update today. But surely couldn't be so much of a c.f. to do it again?!

Psychoseverywhere · 03/03/2020 07:27

Leinster here so can’t help you but really looking forward to updates today. Im there with you in spirit Grin

sunshineANDsweetpeas · 03/03/2020 07:42

Your ndn might not have known her sister said she'd move the car.

But I'm shamelessly placemarking for today's instalment

ellendegeneres · 03/03/2020 07:50

Just parking myself for an update and to see Olaf guarding

OhCaptain · 03/03/2020 08:06

Good morning!

I’m on limited time so I’ve parked Garda Olaf. I tried tying him to the bike but he kept slumping forward looking like a drunkard and I need him upright and intimidating.

Tried one more shout to get DH to take the children to school so I could sit atop the bin fort and menacingly stroke my cucumber penis in Bond Villain fashion, but he refused and is now, I think, genuinely scared for my sanity.

So Garda Olaf is out there even though my children now hate me and the other neighbours are walking past the house on the other side of the road.

Am contemplating doing a drive by drop off where I slow the car and the kids just give it their best shot so I can get home before Bull’s arrival.

I desperately want to see what she does. It’ll probably be nothing!

PSP never did come... 👀

Popcorn ready here for today's instalment.

WindyScales · 03/03/2020 08:34

Good morning OP! Godspeed for today.

MaggieFS · 03/03/2020 08:35

Morning OP! Thanks for the update.

Xiaoxiong · 03/03/2020 08:45

I feel quite sorry for NDN actually. Imagine having Bull as a sister.

applesauce1 · 03/03/2020 08:47

My husband is similar to yours and would rather keep the peace with an absolute dickhead than confront an issue.
I am like you and would enjoy the drama and get in a rage about the injustice!

Weregoingonanadventure · 03/03/2020 08:49

Well this made my morning! I'm so glad you are taking it all on good humour (whilst also wholeheartedly defending your road access). At least if you can keep making jokes out of the, the CF bull is just going to get more and more annoyed but wont have any outlet or comeback because you've done nothing wrong!

PepsiLola · 03/03/2020 08:50

I'm on the train and the lass sitting opposite me must be so confused at me sniggering and smiling at this thread

NeedCoffeeNowRightNow · 03/03/2020 08:55

Can report another DH who thought I was crazy but got on board when I showed him Olaf!

(and yes, I had Twix yesterday, too...)
