It’s a parking one!

Get on fine with house next door. Kids play etc.

About a year ago, her sister started coming to visit every single day. Weekends too. Fine. None of my business.

So we both have double drives and both have two cars. DH also has a motorbike but there’s space to keep it on our drive.

I work from home so I’m out to drop the dc to school then pretty much back for the whole morning. DH is gone in his car from maybe 7am. Motorbike stays on drive until weekends really.

So next door’s sister has a big 7-seater. But she’s taken to partially blocking our drive with it so next door’s car can get in and out.

So she parks up in the morning, partially blocks my drive. And then sometimes they’ll head out in next door’s car and my drive will be blocked.

I can (with ball-achey manoeuvring) get my car on. But if anyone was to visit, or DH was to come home, they couldn’t park on the drive. And they can’t park in front of my house without then blocking other next door’s.

It gives me the fucking rage! It’s so inconsiderate! I’ve said it to next door’s and her answer has been to knock in if I ever need her to move.

DH is so laid back he’s horizontal so he doesn’t see it as a big deal. But it’s just so selfish and irritating.

I’ve come back and parked up right behind her, as in touching the bumper, so I haven’t blocked other next door’s.

WIBU to roll the motorbike out and block her car?? If I put it sideways it won’t block the drive I don’t think.

I hope I’m explaining properly. I need to try to figure out how to post a diagram!

(also, is this all an elaborate fiction to entertain us? In my head it's playing like a scene from Derry Girls and I'm almost crying laughing with the updates)

OhCaptain · 02/03/2020 15:29

I can’t post a photo of the fort in case it’s too outing! My wheelie bin has distinctive stickers.

I love this thread. And I love the OP.

This might be my favourite parking thread.

banivani · 02/03/2020 15:33

Oh my lord I added this to my watch list before I saw that you’re in Ireland - jaysus this has the potential to kick off big time OP you’ll be in the Connaught People next!

Floramcfluff · 02/03/2020 15:34

Omg! I’m
Sorry you’re experiencing this op but this is up there with the best of the parking threads! Hope the CF learns her lesson!

Roussette · 02/03/2020 15:34

Bliss with a cuppa

Eddielzzard · 02/03/2020 15:37

Thank god a MAN neighbour has arrived to sort out the wimin. What a twonk.

TheTrollFairy · 02/03/2020 15:37

As much as j think this is hilarious (who doesn’t love a parking thread) but don’t you have one of those ‘Parking like a Twat in’ Facebook groups? I would be taking photos and posting on there too!

StoneofDestiny · 02/03/2020 15:39

Just found this thread 😱.
What idiots your neighbour is for allowing her sister to kick up a stink at her home and to inconvenience you.

Duckydarling · 02/03/2020 15:39

I can’t believe this woman had the nerve to call you childish.

You asked her politely to move her car, she reluctantly agreed but not there and then, she’d do it when it suited her. Then she went out leaving you blocked in.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 02/03/2020 15:50

I can't wait to find out what happens this evening when @OhCaptain calls over to smooth everything out.

Best of luck with that!

Oh, and your DH is a wet rag. Not stepping up for his lovely wife and telling Man Neighbour (with a 1950's mentality) that SIL caused all of this and he should get his womenfolk in line before casting aspersions at other men's womenfolk!

(Oh and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers or The Quiet Man is obviously where Man Neighbour gets his ideas from).

QueenOfOversharing · 02/03/2020 15:51

Has probably passed out from the shock of DH deferring to me and my vagina.

This sentence. ⭐️

Yabadee · 02/03/2020 15:51

Wish we had a round of applause emoji 👏🏻 does this work?

Howyiz · 02/03/2020 15:53

😂😂

chocolateisavegetable · 02/03/2020 15:56

OK, I need to resign from my job - can't believe that I was missing out on this fabulous drama Sad

Has anyone nominated this for Classics yet? Actually, it's too early yet - I want the OP to feel obliged to come back with updates first Wink

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 02/03/2020 15:56

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll - thank you for that, I really laughed aloud!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 02/03/2020 15:56

She's right, you know: the bin and recycling-box fort are child's play, so you need to start thinking now about a more grown-up option.

And what would be a more grown-up version of a bin than a full-sized waste skip?!

Time to get on to www.dirtygreatrustystinkingskips.ie and get one delivered pronto. I hear that they're considerably cheaper than all of the more reputable and law-abiding better-known companies. Tell them you've used your bins to indicate exactly where you need them to drop it - you're aware that it's partially blocking your neighbour's drive, but you've recently come to an 'arrangement' with them, where apparently this is no big deal. Your clearance job is currently open-ended, so it'll need to remain for an absolute minimum of three months before they might be able to collect it.

Don't forget the massive luminous yellow 'Caution: Infected Medical Waste!' & 'Danger to Life: Bio-Hazard!' stickers for the sides. You may also want to print off a near-Bishop-Brennan-sized portrait of Father Jack with a speech bubble exclaiming "RATS!!!!!"

Be a considerate neighbour and show goodwill to the other residents by clearly warning them and drawing attention to your NDN's new-look property surroundings.

magicstar1 · 02/03/2020 15:57

Lol OP, I'm in Ireland too. Pity your DH isn't interested in this...I'd be getting some of the lads around to park their bikes there one morning and wreck her head.
Seriously though, make her move each and every time she parks there (if she still has the nerve!).

InescapableDeath · 02/03/2020 15:58

I love you OP.

notfromstepford · 02/03/2020 15:59

@OhCaptain you need to do what @WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll said which is quite frankly inspired GrinGrinGrin

TryingToBeBold · 02/03/2020 16:00

Oh yay new pic!
So I'm guessing the bin fort is now in replacement of the bike. I think you made the right decision in putting the bike back.
I think the laughter from DH would have been short lived had he found out about it.. (Maybe make sure it's back in its exact spot).

Amazing thread though!
