Oooo I received an anonymous letter this morning...from THE VILLAGERS 😬

An A4 page complaining about rubbish outside my house, that they’ve been picking it up for months, I have a responsibility to secure my rubbish and I have two weeks to get 2/3 wheelie bins or “measures will be taken”

It’s actually quite polite tbf if you ignore the subtle threat

Only problem is....it isn’t my fucking rubbish! We locked the gate to the field a few months ago and everyone now flytips outside the farm instead (by everyone I mean a few wankers) usually black bags that have missed the bin men/women. They use to chuck them on our farm bonfire but as the gate is locked they throw them on the bondary of my property. My rubbish is kept on my property until bin day.

Unfortunately they’ve missed all the signs saying we have CCTV so I’ll be having a look to see if I can see any pitchforks and angry villagers when I get back from the school run

I wonder if the Uncertain Villagers will also send you a letter...?

Shame you don't want to end up in the DM as for once they might have been useful. The 'villager' is most likely to be a DM reader given they're so uneducated; they may well recognise themselves if this was published. Also would have thought that starting an anti-flytipping campaign would have been right up DM's street!

Ooh I live in a village like this! Mostly it’s facebook complaints about parking and dog poo but I can well imagine a letter like this being written!

I would definitely contact the parish council. You can’t respond and defend yourself to an anonymous note! You need to get some support about the fly-tipping and shut ‘the villagers’ up!

Does it piss anyone else off that there’s a margin on the paper but they’ve chosen just to scrawl all over it. You’d also think that if they were going to send a letter and “keep a copy” they might want to spell properly and not use so many /////. For posterity you know?!

Anyway I’d definitely be tempted to report the letter to the police and firmly ignoring their threats. Presumably their threats can only really amount to reporting you? Or clearing up?

Right. Have done a cursory check of CCTV alerts (it records whenever something moves in front of the camera)

2.42am - my milkman turns up (strangely early...)

3.30am - a tractor leaves the farm, not so unusual but I can’t see the farmer turn up on the CCTV?

6.01am a red van turns up drives round the farm driver gets out checks his back doors and then drives off

From 6.30 onwards it’s all farm traffic

There doesn’t seem to be anyone approaching my house except the milkman. But I may have missed something so I’m going to the CCTV fella to look properly.

Only other thing which could’ve happened is they’ve jumped my garden wall from the road and won’t be on the CCTV at all

Why couldn't they just knock on your door and ask if it's your rubbish, how spineless and spiteful. Oooooohhh you must be trembling.

Well, at least you can discount anyone with a secondary education, going by the letter. Better get down to the primary school sharpish and start rounding up suspects.

Do you have CCTV? Or, could you get one that would capture the number plate?

What you could do is a no fly tipping sign and include that there is CCTV to try and deter it from happening, even if you don't have it yet.

Is there somewhere you could post a nice anonymous letter back to your neighbours, thanking them for picking up the rubbish, but advising them it's not yourself dumping the rubbish there, but fly-tippers.

Fly-tipping is disgusting, why can't people just go to their local recycling centre? It's not hard for fgs, you can literally google where it is and drop it off.

There are also about 10 alerts where I can’t see anything so possibly set off by a bird/fox/deer

And I only checked from midnight onwards, suppose they could’ve come late last night. Letter is dated Saturday so they’ve had it for a few days

You need to find a friendly teacher to mark amd grade that letter in 3 colours, before putting it on display.

But.. that letter was definately written by someone after a few drinks!
And fly tippers are the Spawn of Satan i would love to track them all down & get them heavily fined!!!!
It doesnt help in our local area that "to encourage recycling" you now have to jump through hoops getting access to the tip which has led to a massive increase in flytipping

Have they left any rubbish today, is the cctv pointed at the spot it gets left. I'd put a colour coded tag on your bags so you know which stuff is yours and tell the police woman and parish councillor what you are doing, word will soon get round.
