Oooo I received an anonymous letter this morning...from THE VILLAGERS 😬

Will post a pic later but need to redact info first.

An A4 page complaining about rubbish outside my house, that they’ve been picking it up for months, I have a responsibility to secure my rubbish and I have two weeks to get 2/3 wheelie bins or “measures will be taken”

It’s actually quite polite tbf if you ignore the subtle threat

Only problem is....it isn’t my fucking rubbish! We locked the gate to the field a few months ago and everyone now flytips outside the farm instead (by everyone I mean a few wankers) usually black bags that have missed the bin men/women. They use to chuck them on our farm bonfire but as the gate is locked they throw them on the bondary of my property. My rubbish is kept on my property until bin day.

Unfortunately they’ve missed all the signs saying we have CCTV so I’ll be having a look to see if I can see any pitchforks and angry villagers when I get back from the school run

I can't find any other posters suggesting this, but if I were you, I'd take a short time to open and look through the bags the fly-tippers are leaving. Goes without saying, wear gloves and do cautiously - beware of sharps, broken glass etc..
My logic being that fly-tippers are lazy people, so they may be lazy regarding shredding paperwork with their personal information on it.

battleofthebeanfield · 25/06/2018 12:36

Facinate has made my day.

alwaysthepessimist · 25/06/2018 12:40

older man, ex-parish councillor with a grudge, bored & single.

Can you get a motion activated noise thingy that pop up and scares the living shit out of someone that gets too close, also make sure it is on video so you can sit there watching & laughing when it happens

flamingofridays · 25/06/2018 12:40

This is hilarious. It's like the plot to hot fuzz. Careful op you don't have a "terrible accident"

On a serious note yes maybe check what's being dumped to see if you can find out who's leaving It?

ScarlettSahara · 25/06/2018 12:41

My first thought on reading the letter was dyslexia. They sound a little unhinged with a lot of time on their hands.Threatening measures sounds ominous.Blimey OPConfused. Can’t add anything helpful at the moment Brew.

lottiegarbanzo · 25/06/2018 12:43

Don't know if this has been said already but, did you see the story a couple of weeks or so ago about someone in a Devon village being sent an anonymous note asking her not to hang washing outside the front of her house? She made it public and the whole village came out in support - laundry everywhere!

metro.co.uk/2018/06/13/colyton-washing-wars-town-hang-laundry-street-protest-anonymous-letter-7626464/

Of course you need rubbish pickers-up, which isn't quite so much fun.

LardLizard · 25/06/2018 12:43

Lol at the villagers

Knittedfairies · 25/06/2018 12:44

I would be really cross to get this....letter. If you have a village magazine/notice board I would be very tempted to respond.

UrsulaPandress · 25/06/2018 12:45

Fasinate is my new favourite word.

ScarlettSahara · 25/06/2018 12:47

PS - I thought from your opening title it was going to be an admirer/stalker, possibly equally weird//threatening-slash marks in the spirit of the thread//anonymous letter!🙊

slashlover · 25/06/2018 12:47

Wow, Stephisaur our council is trying to introduce three weekly collections. It’s bad enough with two weeks between collections. You are really lucky.

We're 3 weekly for general and weekly for recycling. The council recently introduced a terrible trolley system for the recycling which nobody likes. Paper in top, metal/plastic in the middle and glass in the bottom.

SofieMonde · 25/06/2018 12:48

Will there be another mystery if the bobby was last seen in the fascinate of the creek?? Let's hope they didn't get to her too.

iknowimcoming · 25/06/2018 12:49

Omg - I live in a village like this, one of my neighbours writes to us telling us to clear out our ditches etc, because she's, like, you know, in charge or something ConfusedHmm HAG Grin

ScarlettSahara · 25/06/2018 12:49

Yes Lottie- I saw that so perhaps an announcement on fb or twitter might get some support?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 25/06/2018 12:51

Reeks of entitlement

Got to be a man

Cuttingthegrass · 25/06/2018 12:57

Hope you managed to track down the village bobby.

I do think you should copy the letter and hand it out asking if anyone knows the author.

GruffaIo · 25/06/2018 12:57

Hot Fuzz is one of my all-time favourite films. I'm always reminded of it when a shop has an old-fashioned electric ding-dong sound upon entry.

More constructively... Definitely talk to the PCSO and the council re the fly-tipping, OP. I'd also be tempted to write to the Parish council, enclosing a copy of the letter, explaining the fly-tipping and the steps you're taking to resolve it, and asking for help.

Zaphodsotherhead · 25/06/2018 12:59

Gruffalo Mine too. Hence the offer of Cornettos all round...

Stephisaur · 25/06/2018 13:05

@windywednesday @slashlover

Do you at least have bigger bins? We recycle as much as we can and still fill our black wheelie bin most weeks.

Slash that tiered thing looks awful. Ours is a brown bin for card/paper and plastics, and a black tub for glass.

whathaveiforgottentoday · 25/06/2018 13:06

Definitely a letter worth writing a thread about. Following with interest .

BalloonDinosaur · 25/06/2018 13:08

@slashlover * 'glass in the bottom'* sounds particularly unpleasant

slashlover · 25/06/2018 13:16

@Stephisaur

Normal green wheelie for general waste.

We used to have a blue wheelie for paper (although I used blue bags as 3rd floor flat), red box for plastic and a black box for metal/glass, each collected at different intervals.

Because glass is in the bottom and it's mostly empty, they tip over easily. It was a bit windy last week and the council told us not to put them out, they barely hold one weeks waste, never mind two. Also, I have the option of carrying my recycling up and down the stairs every time I have something or wheeling it up them every week.

SoupDragon · 25/06/2018 13:16

She must hate her job because the only crime is dog poo related and teens drawing a penis on the bus shelter

She’ll love this then. She could have a midnight stake out.

SoupDragon · 25/06/2018 13:17

But I’m disappointed you don’t live in a little pocket of 1936.

DoinItForTheKids · 25/06/2018 13:20

It's all for the greater good - yarp..
