Anyone lost this? On my backstep if it's yours!

So. Just come in through my back gate to find this on my doorstep....anyone missing a pigeon? Not your average bird, well looked after, has got ring etc but bloody thing won't let me get close enough to get details.

It's currently attacking my pots in hope of food. Am assuming due to high winds been blown off course and is knackered. I have chucked some food out on back step (randomly had some milled linseed in...once a Girl Guide, always a Girl Guide Grin) and shut in Sassycat (cos that wouldn't end well...I'd be hoovering up feathers for weeks!!!)...

So...anyone think they've lost something today? Or have suggestions of what I could do with it? Confused

Aw! Hope he's ok.

LemonySippet · 06/06/2017 07:17

It must be about weetabix time - any update OP?

FlappyFish · 06/06/2017 07:19

I want a Kez!

Hope Gaz is ok this morning. Grin

BillyDaveysDaughter · 06/06/2017 07:27

I LOVE this. I once had a chicken hen that my husband named Gary (after "Gaaaaary" from Only Fools and Horses).

Loving the Kez story and that people care enough to look after any type of stray critter. You restore my faith in human nature.

Is Gary hanging around for his weetabix this morning?

SassynSane · 06/06/2017 07:30

Morning! Right...just going out to check...keep all wings fingers crossed! 👌

Crossing those fingers! Hope he's ok

Ebayaholic · 06/06/2017 07:34

I was in the same boat and the owner said he'd pick it up 'because he was obliged to' and made it clear that as the bird was injured, he would be euthanising it (not necessarily via a vet).

The local wildlife centre kindly took it from me instead, yours must be injured if it's not flying off I would have thought. Hope he's just tired.

Placemarking for a Gaz update...

Frouby · 06/06/2017 07:50

Come on Gaz! Hope you are ok buddy.

Kez is having a duvet day today. It's a bjt wet and windy for him today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/06/2017 07:51

We caught one by putting bird feet into our cat carrier, attaching a string to the door and feeding the string out through the back of the carrier so we could shut the door without approaching.

He turned out to be a champion racing pigeon. We had to keep him for a couple of days over the weekend. dd who was little drew a picture of him. On the Monday FedEx picked him up. I had to put him in the cardboard box they bought. The courier was going nowhere near it. dd put the picture in.

A few days later we had a lovely thank you card and a photo of where he lived :)

PeachPearPotato · 06/06/2017 08:02

Oh come on OP Grin

SassynSane · 06/06/2017 08:09

Yay! Gaz is alive n flapping still! Happy dance!!!

I cannot believe I have just made him Weetabix n milk for brekkie though....oh and huge dilemma...did I use Whole or Semi-skimmed milk??? Decided Whole in the end....Gaz prob needs the extra calories! At least it was organic phew Grin

Sorry for reply delay...had to have our Weetabix too...school run in a bit!

Now moved Gaz onto a bench so he has a room with a view!

Hang on will post pics...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/06/2017 08:35

Morning Gaz! Bit windy for flying!

Kpo58 · 06/06/2017 08:39

We all know that its really Tweetabix....

Frouby · 06/06/2017 08:56

Aww morning Gaz. Glad you are ok buddy.

SassynSane · 06/06/2017 09:07

Hmmm...maybe I should have gone for the semi-skimmed after all! Doesn't look like he was particularly impressed by my breakfast efforts Hmm Not sure my, ahem, fledgling air b'n'b efforts will be getting many stars at this rate! Confused

Have cleaned it up...and will go and buy some birdseed in a bit...

water is really important. I was told not to worry too much about food, but to make sure they have water.

SassynSane · 06/06/2017 09:18

He's got a bowl of water too (which was also poo'd in this morning Hmm) and will keep it topped up. Was half thinking I might be able to let him go this morn but way too windy out there so hoping I get a response from the racing pigeon people. Won't be letting him go anywhere if I think he might have his neck wrung though #giveGazachance!!! He's a sweetie
