AIBU to leave it out overnight?

I have a load of washing on the line. OH just checked it and he says its still pretty wet. No sun here (Grrr) so there is no chance it will dry before we have to go out in an hour.

I say it's not a big deal, we can just leave it on the line overnight and get it in tomorrow when it's dry

He says if it's left out overnight it won't stay clean.

Solve this clash of opinions please dearest vipers (I have no idea how it would get dirty on the clothes line)

Genuine question for the thread though - do spiders not wave their willies in the daytime?

That would be vulgar.

WindwardCircle · 11/04/2017 10:34

You lot have got me worried now. I don't have an outside line, I just hang mine up in the conservatory where I know it's safe from being darked on (the conservatory glass keeps the dark out don't you know) and protected from all the snotting owls and shitting bats, but it is a hive of spiders in there, and now I'm concerned I've been going around wearing spider willy dragged clothes without even knowing it!

WateryTart · 11/04/2017 10:38

Your friends will have noticed but been too polite to say, I expect.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 11/04/2017 10:43

@BarbaraofSeville

She was stalking our house, which was quite impressive considering she lives over an hour away by car and doesn't drive Wink (It involved a 3 hr bus trip and an overnight stay in a B&B). The first we knew of it was the phone call to work when she'd returned home creepy as fuck. We had a low gate at the time which meant she could see from the road, we have a very solid 'bolted at all times' gate now Grin

Needless to say, we don't have a warm and fuzzy relationship Grin

But anyway, back to spider willies......

RiversrunWoodville · 11/04/2017 11:15

My washing was darked on willy dragged, bollocked on ghost pretending to be peopled last night. Must do better

RightOnTheEdge · 11/04/2017 11:34

I leave mine out overnight all the time to my ndn confusion. She has a bit of a thing about competitive washing hanging.

And according to some of my family I also commit the terrible crimes of hanging my washing in a random order and totally mixing up my pegs Shock

So do not copy me! Grin

AwaywiththePixies27 · 11/04/2017 11:55

Anyone who doesn't use the same colour pegs on an item of clothing hanging on the line is way worse a person than any spider who's willy dragged washing. Grin

SmileEachDay · 11/04/2017 11:58

Genuine question for the thread though - do spiders not wave their willies in the daytime?

They're not animals you know....

Hmm
mudddypudddles · 11/04/2017 12:08

Night time air can be quite damp, our garden is always wet first thing wet grass, wet garden furniture and toys etc.
I would imagine your washing would just go cold and damp, but I wouldn't have thought it would do any harm you could just leave it out till afternoon the following day?

SmileEachDay · 11/04/2017 12:59

Muddy it's very important that you read the thread.

Your washing is at risk.

Beadoren · 11/04/2017 13:08

Amazing.

joystir59 · 11/04/2017 13:13

What about acid rain and Saharan sand? I always imagine the air contains dirt and if you leave washing out longer than necessary it will get dirty. I still do it though. My OH always brings it in and leaves it in a big damp creased clump on the kitchen table- that is far worse crime imo

joystir59 · 11/04/2017 13:16

Spiders have palps not willies. your washing will be palp-wiped if you leave it out overnight.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 11/04/2017 13:19

This is a brilliant thread!

I have a question for you though....

Picture the scene.

Freshly washed clothes. Sun shining. No insects or wildlife to be concerned about.
Hang the clothes out on the line.
Heavens open and it starts lashing rain.

Do you
A - leave the clothes out in the rain and just let nature take its course
B - take the wet clothes in and try again in a little while
C - leave the clothes out in the rain, then take them back in and wash them again???

StarlingMurderation · 11/04/2017 13:20

I'd bring it in and hang it inside. My mum always said only slatterns leave their washing out overnight, and I can't shake that early indoctrination.

I did leave a rag rug out the other week because it was still dripping by wet but I felt very naughty. If it were nearly dry, never because the dew fall would wet it again most nights.

Fl0ellafunbags · 11/04/2017 13:55

I left my washing out twice overnight and the spider willies went on it. And these terrible creatures came out of my fanny sunroof and now I am their slave. They call me Muuuuuum! and make me do things that I don't want to do. They are the progeny of the darkness.

CottonSock · 11/04/2017 13:58

Well I often hang mine out in evening, ready for next days sun. Didn't know I was strange

WateryTart · 11/04/2017 20:22

The dark is coming and the spiders are ready. I hope everyone has got their washing in.

happypoobum · 11/04/2017 20:24

Mine is in thanks - there is a lot of moonlight and the werewolves will come........along with The Darking. Shock

JustCallMeKate · 11/04/2017 20:48

I'm doing an experiment tonight and have left a pair of DH's boxers out on the line. They're currently getting darked on but it's windy here so I'm unsure if the spiders will get their willies out in that weather. I did ask DH to wear them tomorrow to see if they felt different with being darked on but he's an unwilling participant in my experiment. He said its obvious my holidays are coming to an end as I clearly have too much time on my hands conducting experiments on his boxers Grin

Fl0ellafunbags · 11/04/2017 20:49

I can hear the spiders unzipping their breeks in preparation for the willy dragging.

P1nkP0ppy · 11/04/2017 21:00

Mine's being mooned on I'm afraid so won't be fit for anything by the morning 😟
I'm guilty of leaving it out overnight to take its chances, cruel I know. Probably need reporting to the Cruelty to Wet Washing Society.

SmileEachDay · 11/04/2017 21:43

Kate you do know that your husband's willy will fall off, don't you?

Science doesn't yet know of that as a result of GETTING DARKED ON or the spider jizz. My money's on the spiders.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 11/04/2017 21:53

In honour of this thread and also the fact I cant be arsed to go back downstairs again tonight. My washing has also been left out to be darked on and mooned on.

DD not feeling too well tonight so windows open to cool her down. Same with DS. Any fairies / ghosts / other worldly night creature are welcome to also pop in and have a cuppa as long as they do a bit of tidying for me on the way out.

Mysteriouscurle · 11/04/2017 22:02

I always take my washing in before it gets darked on because we have a tree in the garden which seems to leave sap droplets on my washing inthe early morning and makes it all sticky and yuk and requiring another wash.which I suppose means it gets SAPPED ONSad
