AIBU to leave it out overnight?

I have a load of washing on the line. OH just checked it and he says its still pretty wet. No sun here (Grrr) so there is no chance it will dry before we have to go out in an hour.

I say it's not a big deal, we can just leave it on the line overnight and get it in tomorrow when it's dry

He says if it's left out overnight it won't stay clean.

Solve this clash of opinions please dearest vipers (I have no idea how it would get dirty on the clothes line)

Thank you for all of your replies on this grave matter. I had already told him he could bring it in and hang it out again himself but he didn't seem keen. He doesn't like to get the outside on him - whether lighted or darked.

I am going to take my chances with the spider willies.

Get a forensics light.

You won't sleep again.

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 10/04/2017 19:13

We get deer in our garden. Lord alone knows what they do.

RobinMansions · 10/04/2017 19:19

I once had a housemate who would leave her washing out for days and nights on end. When she would eventually bring it back in, it smelled hundreds of years old. So there's that to consider too, OP.

SmileEachDay · 10/04/2017 19:22

You know what that was the smell of, Robins..?

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 10/04/2017 19:23

Spider willies.

MrsChopper · 10/04/2017 19:24

Never had any spiders willies on them lol.

Oh don't be such a fool Scottish Wink

RobinMansions · 10/04/2017 19:27

I always thought it was dead kings and queens.

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 10/04/2017 19:27

Washing left out overnight will have spider willies dragged on it and will get darked on. Fact.

SmileEachDay · 10/04/2017 19:28

No, Robin you innocent fool.

xStefx · 10/04/2017 20:44

Haha " spiders will drag their willies on it" lol that's brilliant

But seriously op you mustn't get dark on it!

xStefx · 10/04/2017 20:45

Yep the ghost comment has just finished me off too lol

Rainydayspending · 10/04/2017 20:48

"Natures rinse" or persisting it down great for softening up well washed nappies and towels.
I do it ON PURPOSE Shock

Lizsmum · 10/04/2017 21:36

Now I want to do a quick load of washing and hang it out to get it darked on. You see, my black jeans are looking a bit grey ...

intergalacticbrexitdisco · 10/04/2017 21:51

Don't do it. Ever. You don't realise the risks of the washing getting DARKED ON.

53rdAndBird · 10/04/2017 22:04

Don't. I left mine out once and I've been hoovering fairies out of the carpets ever since. Not worth it.

greathat · 10/04/2017 22:12

I more often than not I'm the summer, put a load on when I get in from work and hang it out in the evening to take in the next day. Despite having bats in our garden I have never had mine pood on or used for bat or spider silly wiping... As far as I can tell, what I don't know can't hurt me

FiveShelties · 10/04/2017 22:15

Fantastic thread -- too funnyGrin Thank you.

WateryTart · 11/04/2017 06:57

My mum used to tell me it would be SOAKED by dew. Soaked I tell you!

That's not dew ...

HanShootsFirst · 11/04/2017 07:23

spider silly wiping the spiders get very offended if you mock their willies like that.

MDFalco · 11/04/2017 08:44

Susan Cooper wrote a book about that: "The Dark is Rising" - all about washing left out overnight.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 11/04/2017 09:01
Grin

Can I tell you that we left our washing out overnight once and the MIL left a message at DH's work (with another colleague) to tell us how disgusting it was.

Now I know about it being "darked on" I completely get it and can see we were completely in the wrong Wink

LonginesPrime · 11/04/2017 09:19

That's not dew

I just snort-laughed on a crowded bus at this..and now I can't stop giggling...every time I think of it, it sets me off again!

Fluffyears · 11/04/2017 09:21

My mum used to say 'I better get the washing in before the dampness comes down' she meant damp air (dew) but it sounds ridiculous.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/04/2017 09:53

Raptorina How did your MIL know that your washing was out overnight. Does she sneak round your garden at night?

At least she directed the complaints towards your DH. Most MILs tend to consider the lady of the house responsible for all laundry related matters.

My DM sometimes house sits for us and she became a little bit obsessed with our NDNs leaving their washing out over night, which believe me is the very least of their crimes. In about 10 years of living next door to them, I'd never really noticed, I just thought they got up quite early, ie 5-6 am to put it out, which is fair enough anyway if you need to do it before you go to work.

Genuine question for the thread though - do spiders not wave their willies in the daytime?
