Real post I've seen this week.

"Got some cheap stuff for sale if you want anything"

Cue 20 posts along the lines of;

"Have you got a patio heater hun?"

"No sorry"

Have you got a wheelbarrow?

No, haven't got a wheelbarrow.
Xx

3 days later the thread is still going strong. 20 people have been disappointed that the seller doesn't have what they want and the seller has made no effort to make any suggestion what she does have.

The crap people try to sell never fails to amaze me, recently I saw...
Childs Minnie Mouse suitcase, Minnie's face is coming off but otherwise excellent condition
Included a picture of suitcase with Minnie face hanging off!

AliceLidl*, my dad made one of those hedgehog books when he was at the hospice day centre. He showed me how to make them and I found an old damaged book and made one for my hedgehog-mad DD. She loved it didn't have a flower on its head though

Recently on my local selling page some knob was selling a bed frame. Photo was of bed, with mattress and bedding all in situ. Covered in stains and filth with drawers on parameters of photo crammed and over flowing with crap... With a selection of sex toys, box of condoms and a roll of kitchen roll on the floor!!

mejon · 29/10/2014 20:59

There's often items on my local ones that say 'needs a clean' or whatever. I'm thinking, how about giving it a clean yourself before expecting someone to shell out good money for it, you might have more chance of selling it then.

The gender specific wants are always good for a laugh like 'potty for a boy wanted'.

Someone on our nearest children and baby items for sale page is currently selling the most god awful drawings/paintings of Disney characters - they really look like an untalented child did them - loads of people have 'liked' them and are wanting to buy one Confused.

i recently sold a changing table for 20 quid
the buyers turned up an hour early and claimed they knocked but we didn't. they didn't respond to my Facebook messages till the next day. they said they would come that day but not till after 2pm. i said after pissing us off for an entire evening they could first thing or not at all. they then amazingly said they no longer had the money.

i eventually put it back on for free and gave it to the first person who replied coherently.

firefly78 · 29/10/2014 21:14

Didn't hear them knock.

Hmmmwhatnow · 29/10/2014 21:14

The one I hate most recently is "Iphone/android phones wanted, don't mind if they are password, icloud locked etc. Must b cheap"

Why not just say "nick me a phone plz"

OneSkinnyChip · 29/10/2014 21:22

I swear all the FB seller groups near us attract the stupidest bunch of cocks you will ever come across. Think of the dumbest person you've ever met and multiply by five and that's the brightest spark there.

I also hate the 'free puppies' and 'free rehoming' posts, ditto the animals for sale ones, I have tried reporting but it apparently doesn't break any guidelines Angry

I need to look at these pages, how do you find them? I don't do face book but can go on DPs just to have a look

VivaLeBeaver · 29/10/2014 21:30

Nancy. On the fb homepage go into the search bar and start typing your town name and something to do with selling.

Eg, York for sale or York selling. See what groups come up.

Stupid Facebook selling.
SouthernComforts · 29/10/2014 21:45

The emails I get from freecycle are hilarious.

WANTED: working dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc 4 new flat.
WANTED: TV must be flat screen not old style
OFFER: broken fence panels. Last chance before they go top.
WANTED: Kitchen. Can dismantle and collect**
OFFER: cardboard boxes

** they genuinely wanted an actual kitchen, not a toy kitchen.

CuttedUpPear · 29/10/2014 21:46

WestmorlandSausage · 29/10/2014 21:47

on our local one recently a young woman posted on behalf of her boyfriend who had asked her to seek a spare bubble for his spirit level and something else (like tartan paint or a sky hook or something can't remember).

There were quite a few posts from people very obviously taking the piss and her getting annoyed and not getting why they were taking the piss and that her boyfriend had set her up until finally it suddenly dawned on her.

Was hilarious.

Nocarbs · 29/10/2014 21:47

Omg this so has to go into classics!
I'm amazed by some crap that is sold!

One of my local pages has very strict rules and it does tend to work better, however I wish there was a filter to get rid of all the 'used plimsolls, that clearly are only fit for the bin' plus puzzles in good condition but with a bit missing Grin

On our local site recently:

Potential buyer: lookin for a bumbo for lil girl thx x
Other group member: There's one for £5 further down the page hun
Potential buyer: thx hun I seen that but is green n I need one for a girl. Thx tho xxx

Because girls can't have green.

SlinkyB · 29/10/2014 22:13

Some of these are so funny, I've seen lots of similar on my local page.

The worst thing I've seen though is a man who posted something along the lines of 'Does anyone know the address for the women's refuge in ? It's just that I've got a bag of women's clothes I'd like to drop off as a donation'.

Cue a someone actually posting the actual address of a safe house, and then others repeating/confirming it SadAngryShock

I mean, there's stupid and there's dangerously stupid.

GloriousGloria · 29/10/2014 22:22

This is so funny. I shall be back with a few of my own that I have seen shortly

IneedAwittierNickname · 29/10/2014 22:26

"Wanted maclaren stroller"
"Hun there's one advertised 2 posts below this"
"Thx. Can you bump it for me please"

HmmConfused it's literally 2 posts down. Just scroll yourself lazy moo!

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 29/10/2014 22:32

My other favourite was someone selling a hot tub that not only looked like it had been there since 1989 but they also stated "Will require four people to lift, buyer must disconnect/dismantle, plus must remove fence panel to get it out and replace fence panel when done"

CurlyWurlyCake · 29/10/2014 22:39

Not a selling page but we have a local town page which is hilarious at times, in a Shock kinda way.

Someone posts a picture of a car parked a bit dodgy. OI YOU CUNT YOU CANT PARK FOR SHIT.

New poster, that's my car and I was rushing a cat to the emergency vets after finding it injured on the road - posts pic of injured cat.

I DONT CARE BECAUSE YOU PARK LIKE AN INCONSIDERATE WANKER.

Rest of posts are about the cat and trying to trace the owner...

OR posts about dog poo, people riding motorbikes, best/worst Chinese take away.

I've only had FB for about 18mnths and can't think what I did to pass time before finding it.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/10/2014 22:39

Someone's selling jars of baby food "brand new, never been opened". Surely noone is stupid enough to sell jars of opened, half eaten baby food?

Someone has tagged their sister in a reply which reads "sis u shud gt this wud last bub ages"
