Real post I've seen this week.

"Got some cheap stuff for sale if you want anything"

Cue 20 posts along the lines of;

"Have you got a patio heater hun?"

"No sorry"

Have you got a wheelbarrow?

No, haven't got a wheelbarrow.
Xx

3 days later the thread is still going strong. 20 people have been disappointed that the seller doesn't have what they want and the seller has made no effort to make any suggestion what she does have.

People aren't paying for the rocks, they are paying for the art on them.

Chrissy41 · 02/11/2014 15:01

Snape - if you include some fake Lynx I will gladly buy one.

Gawjushun · 02/11/2014 15:29

Thank you mumsnetters for the username inspiration. :D

My favourite posts on the local Facebook page are those blinged up Tommy Tippee bottles and dummies. There's always a brilliant bun fight between the hun crowd and those who sensibly point out how unhygienic and dangerous they are. However, the damn things are so popular that they get snapped up, and there's even a stall on a local market selling them.

Comito · 02/11/2014 15:33

This thread has made my face ache with laughter. I tried to explain to DH why but all I could do was squeak. I've now applied to join my local (closed) facebook selling group. Cannot wait to see what's on there!

A "is anyone selling a tense machine plez?"

B "Do you mean TENS? The machine to assist pregnant ladies with pain relief?
I'm not selling one but I thought I would just say that if it helps you get one."

A "No its 4 your abs"

B "Oh..... an electrocute-yourself-fit machine....... Good luck with it!"

To those who are wondering WTF is buying these things, I suspect that a lot of the "activity" may be so-called "shill bidding", which is when people connected to the seller pretend to be genuine customers.

pinkstinks · 02/11/2014 16:47

I actually used to be good at art, though not done anything for years. This thread does make me reconsider getting back into it though. If I do I'll have to take up Snape's suggestion first Grin

QuietNinjaTardis · 02/11/2014 18:24

Fab thread. I'm pretty sure there's someone on my page who nicks stuff. It's all nail polish and lipsticks and small things. "Brand new, £5 the lot" for about 20 items. She posts loads of things and I can't imagine how she has so much new stuff that she's willing to sell off so cheaply unless it didn't cost her anything.

rockpinkpumpkin · 02/11/2014 18:25

Coconutty PLEASE show us that post !!

Stupid Facebook selling.

Those mangled books make me want to cry. Is that what books have been reduced to now?

BertieBotts · 02/11/2014 19:15

I once saw a car seat for sale on ebay that had had the cover and straps taken off, but the numpty selling it had managed to put the straps back in the wrong way up. As in, there were two shoulder straps coming from a single slot and the between-the-legs strap was all off centre from a single one of the shoulder strap holes, and the whole thing was upside down. Very odd.
