DS malfunctioning

soapybubbles123 · 29/09/2014 20:25

Purchased new directly from the manufacturer six months ago. Beautiful outer packing, all parts intact and delivered quickly.

However, keeps malfunctioning at night; will shut down perfectly for several days and then develops a glitch and makes a high pitched shrieking noise when returned to the night charging unit.

Neither me nor DH have the technical knowledge to fix this fault but I'm hoping there might be an update we can install?

There are alternative porting solutions that help in the early days of mobility. They can be pricey, although I've found borrowed ones work with my devices. I particularly recommend the Jumperoo (aka the circle of neglect).

DaughterDilemma · 30/09/2014 13:41

Gnome the TEEN operating system has problems with its internal clock.

It needs constant boosts of additional memory usually rectified by a personal reminder message.

It is also highly sensitive and if anyone tries to reprogram or alter in any way it simply shuts down.

MrsCakesPrecognition · 30/09/2014 13:43

We seem to finally disabled the Why_fi functionality, but how do you turn off the Autowitter and iWant apps?

DieselSpillages · 30/09/2014 13:53

I do not feel I was sufficiently warned about the all glitches in the TEEN operating system, nor that 24/7 WIFI would be prerequisite to optimal functioning.

DaughterDilemma · 30/09/2014 13:54

The 1957DP model is currently having frequent memory problems and is getting very slow to respond. Its retro styling is endearing but that's all.

My own 1964SE.lf model occasionally overheats to the point of malfunction.

DaughterDilemma · 30/09/2014 13:56

Diesel I find turning the wifi off sometimes kickstarts TEEN back into action.

soapybubbles123 · 30/09/2014 14:03

Unit still charging in PramPort Grin

Is just as well, my poor ears couldn't take anymore and I was seriously considering returning to sender (I'm looking at you DH)

I've found turning of wifi sets off the low on munchies alarm.

2013 DS model has certainly developed independent mobility and frequently has to be removed from attempting to climb up bookcases, tables and generally anything in the vicinity. It has a particular attraction to the fireplace where it attempts to remove fake coal and place in mouth. Fireguard add on now installed to prevent but model now likes to shake add on whilst emitting giggly noises.

Model has also been very glitchy at night recently due to attempting to install tooth 5.0, as with previous installation of tooth apps there seem to be some issues with this process that cause model to activate during night making screechy noises. Application of variously calpol, bonjela and cuddle add-ons assists.

As for delivery, this system definitely needs work. We were given an inital delivery date but due to delivery system being affected by diabetes 1.0 we were advised that delivery would be most likely have to be two weeks earlier. System then developed further issue known as preeclampsia in addition and delivery date was put forward another week, however attempts to hasten delivery over a four day period were met with absolutely no response and required service providers to eventually have to remove item manually to handover.

At 11 months old there may still be a guarantee that would cover model but as it is generally cute, entertaining and funny I do not wish to return/replace so am probably stuck with it!

Momagain1 · 30/09/2014 14:23

Oh dear lord, now I am late for the run to the education portal. And it is sunny, so mine and all the rest will be beeping an error message requiring a link to the outdoor entertainment app nearby and I dont have time for that. The high pitched wails will continue.

WhistlingPot · 30/09/2014 14:53

Another great thread in similar vein:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/a1565706-I-think-my-baby-must-have-a-wonky-widget

The old thread seems very outdated in just a couple of years though - makes you realise just how much Apps have taken over our world in next to no time at all!

soapybubbles123 · 30/09/2014 15:01

Still charging...Smile

I remember that thread Whistling although when I read the title I did think it was about a baby that was weeing funny.

I'm hugely mature me, can you tell Grin

Quick, help needed!

How do I switch of the cannibal function in a 2014 model? This morning it demonstrated how well this function works on the arm of my 2008 model at the education portal. This resulted in loud wailing and eye port leakage from the 2008 model. Ignoring this unwanted function has not worked since the same activity has now been attempted on me.

soapybubbles123 · 30/09/2014 15:09

Running I suggest the That'sNotNice and HowWouldYouLikeItIfTheyDidItToYou input codes.

I'm not sure how successful they are but were utilised by the Master Programmer (DM) when me and my brother (1991 model) were small.

Also try the MNHardLook feature with optional "No" audio.

Stratter5 · 30/09/2014 15:15

1997DD model appears to be stuck on Dramatics App. My patience is wearing thin, any ideas?

freshstart4us · 30/09/2014 15:27

Too.Good.To.Read.At.Work. Grin

On a serious note, soapy I would suggest reaching out to a specialist technician for the issues with your unit's outer casing, as this could definitely be the issue behind his struggles with powering down at night. My 2011 pink model has had multiple issues with her outer casing (cradle cap/eczema, etc), to which GPs various treatments over 2.5 years were utterly pointless. Eventually resolved by a (fortunately BUPA-funded) top-level consultant WITHIN 72 HOURS who alarmingly told me that the treatment protocols he uses are 5 years ahead of NHS consultants, who are 5 years ahead of GPs. Go private, and now, rather than letting your DS suffer with it as "a normal childhood issue".

And keep on keeping on MNers, this is legendary stuff!!!

soapybubbles123 · 30/09/2014 15:30

Why thank you fresh Grin

OP posts:
moxon · 30/09/2014 15:43

running, soapy - but those apps are not yet compatible with the linguistic functioning programme capabilities in the 2014 model?! The cann1BLE update you mentioned recently downloaded automatically to my unit (definitely did not preorder it), but specifically seems to target the n1pPLE.plug-in ports?! It's causing a lot of painful problems, and the manual seems ambivalent about patches...? Confused

CallMeExhausted · 30/09/2014 15:44

This thread is spectacular!

I had a fantastic time yesterday downloading it through my 1973 model vision portals at extended arm's length while spending hours waiting to have a sudden malfunction set and plastered.

I am now uploading it to my 1964 DH device (a significant upgrade to the severely faulty 1969 model XH I returned to the manufacturer).

Thanks for the Laugh add-on.

soapybubbles123 · 30/09/2014 15:47

You are v welcome Call

Also Thanks Your malfunction sounds v painful.

My 1998 DS model recently self-installed the Sarca.SM 16.0 add-on - is there any way to delete this without a hard reboot?

soapybubbles123 · 30/09/2014 15:49

DS still charging Hmm

I'm thinking the hardware finally crashed due to failing to charge effectively and is now undergoing a complete reboot.

moxon · 30/09/2014 15:51

Thanks on the 11.50am-ish sympathies, middling!
