to think that I might still be able to find a small monkey toy to replace the one my ds lost 3 three years ago?

DS loves monkeys and has collected them since he was tiny. This one was his favourite- it used to be mine, and was over 20 years old so they don’t sell them any more. He somehow took it into town with him and lost it well over three years ago now. He’s now 6. But at regular intervals since then he has cried again about losing it. The latest time was this week. I have scoured the internet, ebay and car boot sales but have never been able to find one. I tried contacting the shop it was bought from but that hit a deadend too. I think it was a ‘russ’ something. The actual monkey was about the size of a toddler’s hand- it was tiny, probably only about 4 inches long and it was filled with tiny beans.

I know I need to let it go, and I know its one of life’s lessons, but I would so love to track one down for him. If anyone has any bright ideas or has one of these monkleys (I would pay obviously!!), please let me know

Hooray! I'm so pleased it's him. When I saw the photo I felt sure I used to have a monkey like that, all my old soft toys were in storage so didn't want to say anything in case I was wrong but managed to have a look today and so I'm really pleased it's the right kind of monkey!

I don't check AIBU that often so is complete coincidence I saw it really but very pleased I did and that this little monkey will hopefully make your son happy. I'll tell him to start thinking of what to put in his letter! Grin

And you could always say that Educated's reindeer gave him the hat or that he had to wrestle it from its jaws

Thisvehicleisreversing · 19/05/2014 22:33

Yay!!

So pleased there's a happy ending.

Strangely after mentioning my DS's little monkey on this thread, this morning he asked me where Fudge (his monkey) was as he hadn't seen him for a while. DS is 8 so often goes weeks and months without being bothered about his cuddly toys. Just really odd that today was the day we had to search his room for him.

CuriosityCola · 19/05/2014 22:39

This is lovely.

EduCated · 19/05/2014 22:59

Yay! So pleased Smile and I KNEW I was on the right track with the reindeer Grin
