to think that I might still be able to find a small monkey toy to replace the one my ds lost 3 three years ago?

DS loves monkeys and has collected them since he was tiny. This one was his favourite- it used to be mine, and was over 20 years old so they don’t sell them any more. He somehow took it into town with him and lost it well over three years ago now. He’s now 6. But at regular intervals since then he has cried again about losing it. The latest time was this week. I have scoured the internet, ebay and car boot sales but have never been able to find one. I tried contacting the shop it was bought from but that hit a deadend too. I think it was a ‘russ’ something. The actual monkey was about the size of a toddler’s hand- it was tiny, probably only about 4 inches long and it was filled with tiny beans.

I know I need to let it go, and I know its one of life’s lessons, but I would so love to track one down for him. If anyone has any bright ideas or has one of these monkleys (I would pay obviously!!), please let me know

God this takes me back! I lost a toy bunny as a child and cried for years afterwards. It was before the days of Internet and eBay, of course, but my parents tried and tried to find a replacement. I still get a bit teary about it even now!!

Really hope you find a substitute, OP!

This makes me miss my ET toy my dad threw away when he moved (before I could claim it). To be fair. He did warn me... Except I was at uni in Plymouth and didn't drive at the time. (He was in another seaside town some 3 hrs up the coast, no rail link). :-(. He also made me give away a doll my grandad bought me, because I was too big for dolls. (Not straight after, but I had kept it for several yrs and my grandad had died). Still feel the pain.

jinsea do you want us to look for your bunny too?

Ah, bless you curious, I'd love to find him again, but I don't think I have any photos and I probably couldn't describe him very accurately. I left him on a coach when I was on the way to see my grandparents. My parents spent years assuring me that he'd probably found a very good home, but I always wondered what had happened to him. :(

Awww. I have a bunny too which has survived the years and is still with me! I would be heartbroken to lose her even now.

I am not on Facebook, but wonder if this is one area where it might redeem itself. Can anyone post the OP's pictures to their profile page thingies?

Have you emailed Russ?
When I was a child my dad spent a lot of time in the USA, he bought me a raggedy Ann and Andy. I loved them but lost them over the years.

A few years ago dh found me an Andy and some research showed Russ used to make Anne in the US. I emailed them, explained the story (I'd not long lost my dad so it seemed especially important to me) and asked if I could buy an Anne. They asked for my details and said they would see if they could find one in old stock and they'd get back to me.

Two weeks later Anne was pushed through my letter box all the way from the USA,a complete surprise and no charge. I sobbed my heart out that morning but Anne and Andy are reunited and will never leave me again.

Russ are an amazing, caring company. I've never forgotten that kindness they did for me and I recommend then to everyone. Send them a picture, they may help you.

Here they are together again savoy. Most pictures of me as a child show me hanging on to Anne and Andy. They never seemed to take off over here in the way they did in the USA so when DH spotted Andy in a little farm shop he bought him straight away for me. Anne was so much more elusive!

Anyway, OP I really hope you find your monkey. As I say email Russ. A nicer company you will not find.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you- it was a work day.
Sistersof percy- I really love your story! Gave me a lump in my throat. Great photo too. Only problem with emailing Russ is that they have gone under and don't exist anymore. :-( So I can't email them. (thought it was funny that my extensive researching wasn't coming up with any manufacturing details)
Mrsdoas & junei- thanks for the empathy. I really don't wany my DS to still be missing his monkey in 20 years time!! I want to sort it for him. I am sure there must be other things to try.
Bardette - have looked at that page but will have another look
Others- thanks those links are close, but still not the right little fellow

Is this it?

I found what looked like other animals from the collection called home buddies and this image came up.

The listing has been removed from EBay, but if it is the right one then you have something more to go on. m.ebay.co.uk/itm/130913684373

It just feels so close to discovery! Will keep looking. That one was 1996 as well. That monkey must be around in some form!

What about this one? Looks like no tail and different material?

Think it is 1986 snuggles collection monkey.
