to think that I might still be able to find a small monkey toy to replace the one my ds lost 3 three years ago?

DS loves monkeys and has collected them since he was tiny. This one was his favourite- it used to be mine, and was over 20 years old so they don’t sell them any more. He somehow took it into town with him and lost it well over three years ago now. He’s now 6. But at regular intervals since then he has cried again about losing it. The latest time was this week. I have scoured the internet, ebay and car boot sales but have never been able to find one. I tried contacting the shop it was bought from but that hit a deadend too. I think it was a ‘russ’ something. The actual monkey was about the size of a toddler’s hand- it was tiny, probably only about 4 inches long and it was filled with tiny beans.

I know I need to let it go, and I know its one of life’s lessons, but I would so love to track one down for him. If anyone has any bright ideas or has one of these monkleys (I would pay obviously!!), please let me know

Ooo this is almost like a fun competition now to see who can find it :-) it's lovely how helpful people can be sometimes.

Yes it's really touching that you are helping! I would be so, so thrilled if we did manage to track it down.
Neverwas- those are all cute and on the right lines but they are all in a different position to our chap- he was kind of lying down. I'll see if the other picture we have of him gives a better idea- they are both so grainy though.

Neverwas- yes he did look a lot like that- but I think ours didn't have a tail.
Gorby- think it was a russ- as we found another animal in the same make at a car book sale that was a russ (but Ds wouldn't let me buy him as he said it would just make him sad as it wasn't a monkey). Got it from a department type store that sold all kinds of makes/toys

Was it this one?

The bidding has ended, but looks like the same one.

Ours didn't have pale feet- his legs are all the same colour and that one (Mulligan) is bigger than ours- but really appreciate your efforts!

Your one looks very similar to this one... without the heart! Is there any chance you/someone else may have snipped the heart off when you were small? www.cuddlycollectibles.com/Russ%20Berrie/russ_berrie_valentine's_day_plush_monkies.htm

He looks like curious George. Google russ toys curious George and there are links to some on amazon.

Mrsdoasyou- both of those are a bit darker than ours
Winner- that is the closest so far! But yes- different colour hands (and ours didn't have a heart)- but makes me realise it really must have been a Russ. Have been researching 'Russ' to try to get to the headquarters, but it seems they have closed down now. Damn. So the only way I will find one now I guess is if one comes up on ebay or if someone on mumsnet has got one kicking around their house! So frustrating
