Oh Wiggins, oh Bradley
I love you quite madley
You look tres sexee
In the yellow jersey
Vous etes tres bon
Avant le peloton
With your mates Cav and Froome
To Paris you'll zoom
Do your side burns help you steer?
When you win I will shed a tear.

Far as I can see, just substitute Brad for Bad throughout Creedence's "Bad ( I mean Brad ) Moon Rising", & you have the Ultimate Wiggo Anthem! (Also I know that Wiggo's hero, Paul Weller is a John Fogerty / Creedence fan). Grin

Thistledew · 24/07/2012 23:39

I will be watching the race on Saturday, and the women's on Sunday too. I tried and failed to get tickets for Box Hill, so will go to Richmond park to see them go out, then go back home to watch it on the telly, before dashing back to the park to see them come back again, then zip home to watch the finish on the TV. I have been working out how long I need to allow myself to get to the park before they come past - I live 2 miles from the park so reckon if I leave to get there when they are about 8 miles from it, I should just be in position as they come past!

evilgiraffe · 25/07/2012 07:25

HalfMum, I loved Millar's photo - looks like Cav is turning on the charm for the cafe people!

Interesting read, Pan, thanks.

Right, time for work. It's the first step towards home time and having a go with my new pedals!

Minimammoth · 25/07/2012 08:44

Have read the whole thread, what a good feeling this team have produced, keep going with your poems. I keep having a tune from My Fair Lady going in my head. Male lead- Henry Higgins. So..... Just you win Bradley Wiggins.... Perhaps you could convert the lyrics. Might give it a go later.( tune is Just you Wait).
Sorry for ramble....old duffer emoticon.

fanjodisfunction · 25/07/2012 10:13

I'm so excited about the weekend, wish I could go and see it, but I shall be glued to the box instead. Think I might have to buy a new road bike, my one speed Kona paddy wagen just doesn't cut it anymore, need to save for something else. But what to get, any suggestions girls? Would love a Bianchi!

And why isn't Brad aleady a Sir!?

nidan · 25/07/2012 10:29

fanjodisfunction - Cannondale bikes all the way!

Fantastic TDF again this year, with an exceptional outcome. The yellow jersey leading out Cav on the Champs Elysee, was something to behold - it's rare that the jersey wearer races in the last stage and was VERY good to see. Wiggo, you truely deserve it.

Let's see some more of the same for the road race and time trial.

evilgiraffe · 25/07/2012 11:02

Fanjo, I have a Trek Lexa SL and I can't praise it enough. Granted, I'm hardly a cycling expert, but I love my bike!

Nidan - the last stage was just fantastic. My heart rate was through the roof with excitement and nerves! Brad and Cav are heroes Grin

evilgiraffe · 25/07/2012 11:34

Right, I've managed a Cav/ITV4 limerick. I think it proves that my strengths lie in prose, not humourous verse, but who cares who cares...

There once was a man on a bicycle
Who really did look rather nice-icle
They said he had three legs;
So we'll have to place bets
But we'll never find out 'cause he's not single!

(If you're looking, Cav and Peta, I'm sorry, but it did make me laugh, silly commentary people Grin )

thatlldopigthatlldo · 25/07/2012 19:12

good work evilgiraffe.

anyone else get a lump in their throat at cav being interviewed kissing his baby?

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 25/07/2012 19:47

evilgiraffe - classy limeric girl!

fanjodisfunction - DH suggests getting some biking magazines and looking for a good offer. Get carbon fibre forks at least for a more comfortable ride. Apparently the Boardman bikes are good from Halfords and very reasonably priced. He is lusting after the Mekk bike on Wiggle (they changed to Wiggo earlier in the week bless). And get clipless pedals.

maillotjaune · 25/07/2012 19:53

DH got a Boardman bike last year. He has a good few bikes but is very happy with it (although be warned it says Boardman on the frame about a million times.

He says the Boardman is very good value for money.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 25/07/2012 20:08

After watching him on ITV4 I like Boardman.

Apparently Brad is now in London and has got his GB kit.

I have purchased items for DS's olympic themed birthday party (Ice cream cones = olympic torch etc.). I am particularly looking forward to the foam javelin event.

I am looking forward to his birthday but also have major road race excitement. I am trying to muster up another verse to spur on our lads.

evilgiraffe · 25/07/2012 20:09

Hehehe glad you liked my poor effort!

That'll - YES I may have nearly cried a bit with Cav cuddling the baby. He is beyond adorable. And the baby will break hearts when she's older I bet - got some good-looking genes there!

I went out with my new pedals! And I didn't fall off and I didn't have to get off and walk up the hills (though it might have been quicker) and I went zooming down the downhill bits and I LOVE MY BIKE Grin It's been ages since I went that far, but 18 miles at an average of 13mph is not too bad for a porky woman who's never used clipless pedals before I think.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 25/07/2012 20:25

well done evil! Did you channel Froome on the hills?

OP posts:
evilgiraffe · 25/07/2012 21:04

I think I channelled Cav on the hills - I might be going about this all wrong... Grin

What's worse is that this is the Fens - those of you who live somewhere with real landscape wouldn't even notice my "hills". Oh well. I can only get better, right?

Jens Voigt is tweeting about his dishwasher. It's gloriously surreal reading his feed.

I like Chris Boardman too - I thought the coverage was really good. DH has entered the competition to win a Boardman bike from ITV4! We need to move house to find space to accommodate our growing collection of bikes...

ThePan · 25/07/2012 21:06

Well done you, evil. Not falling off. Not walking up hills. Tour potential!Grin

ThePan · 25/07/2012 21:13

Line up for Saturday's Road Race

LostInWales · 25/07/2012 21:30

Ooof that's some list. Some great names on there. Poor Ryder Hesjedal, one and only Canadian. Do you think he'll be a bit lonely or will he align himself with a rider he already knows? Hmm, more interest to ponder on.

Took my eldest boys out on their road bikes today (only taken me 2 years to get them to try, thank you Brad and Mark). They had the best time, couldn't get over how fast they could go and want to go on a longer ride tomorrow. I am just getting over my extra grey hairs from realising just how much faster they could go. Gulp.

Very impressed with the new pedals. Would do anything to get a bit of cycling on the flat done here. It's about a 45 degree slope in any direction just to get away from my house!

ThePan · 25/07/2012 21:39

now following Jens V. "things that will be working after the apocalypse #1 Jens Voigt".

fanjodisfunction · 25/07/2012 21:41

thanks ladies, I was going to look at the boardman ones, maybe wait for a sale as well they are bound to have one at the end of the summer. I do like my Kona racer though its a sweet looking machine, but I need gears now.

Im so excited about the cycling this weekend, also the ladies race, is Pooley there this year, love her!

evilgiraffe · 25/07/2012 21:45

Just watching the highlights from Sunday now. Breathtaking stuff.

LostInWales · 25/07/2012 21:59

How lovely does Jens Voigt sound. Thank you for the heads up on that one. Does anyone use twitter for stuff other than following cycling/cyclists?

Just have to share this with you. I could compose an ode to those eyelashes Blush Thank you SeaShells for sharing it with me.
