Oh Wiggins, oh Bradley
I love you quite madley
You look tres sexee
In the yellow jersey
Vous etes tres bon
Avant le peloton
With your mates Cav and Froome
To Paris you'll zoom
Do your side burns help you steer?
When you win I will shed a tear.

Vino totally caught him napping!

LostInWales · 28/07/2012 15:48

Fair play, Gold medal winner fell in the TdF last year and fractured his femur so he has worked hard to get back. Last year was supposed to be his last year but he came back because he didin't want to go out of the sport like that.

NarkedRaspberry · 28/07/2012 15:49

Sad They should have followed the Spanish across.

evilgiraffe · 28/07/2012 15:50

:( where has Cav finished in the end?

QuenelleOJersey2012 · 28/07/2012 15:50

Yes, all credit to Vino.

ThePan · 28/07/2012 15:51

somewhere down, about 20th or so. Or worse.

GoCavWiggoMillarFroomeetal · 28/07/2012 15:53

You did us proud GB- the slogg that Stannard put in was amazing. I think I love Wiggins even more now too!

ThePan · 28/07/2012 15:55

IT was still fantastic, and GB were left with all of the work at the front. But it's a competitive sport, so they were right to do that I guess. Still horrible though.

Still, time trial to go!

LostInWales · 28/07/2012 15:55

A tiny little bit of me is happy that if Cav didn't get gold it wasn't because he lost out in a sprint finish. There was nothing he could do.

Onwards and upwards, Vino is 39 soon, Cav's got a good couple of Olympics in him yet Grin

LostInWales · 28/07/2012 16:02

Phew, I can relax now anyway. Was all butterflies for this race, I can enjoy the rest of the games now without caring much. Oh Cav, poor darling, he can't even go home and cuddle his beautiful baby and put his feet up. Belgium tomorrow then France and somewhere like Holland on Team Sky criterion duties. They work so bloody hard.

SeashellsAllezModInYellowAllez · 28/07/2012 16:18

:(

  1. amazing crowds out - unbelievable and previously unthinkable prior to TdF. It was all about the velodrome before last Sunday

  2. tv coverage- what a waste of an opportunity. The commentators didn't even know what country a breakaway cyclist was. No time splits, no knowledge really, just v poor. Tv pictures great but rest was shite.

  3. really really feel for Cav. Heart breaking for it to happen again to him.

  4. still love them all though (although Froome dropped out v early really.froome dog was a tired dog today)

  5. now I can speak to my family again Grin

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 28/07/2012 16:21

Heart goes out to our lads. Total hard work. Well done.
Sad no medals though. Glad they didn't fall off. Hope Cav is OK.

Right, on to men's gymnastics. Come on Louis!

SeashellsAllezModInYellowAllez · 28/07/2012 16:29

Just heard a v broken Cav on radio 4. He says the guys are spent :(

NarkedRaspberry · 28/07/2012 16:37

I'm very sorry for Cav. The commentators said they didn't have the info but agree that they should have repeated the basic info more to make up for the loss of graphics/time split. No lack of cycling knowledge from Chris Boardman though.

QuenelleOJersey2012 · 28/07/2012 17:15

Gutted for Cav and the others.

QuenelleOJersey2012 · 28/07/2012 17:16

Cav tweeted that they were victims of their own success.

SeashellsAllezModInYellowAllez · 28/07/2012 19:03

Belgians admitting their plan a was for GB to do all the work

frostyfingers · 28/07/2012 19:35

I am devastated for all of them, but particulaly Cav - victims of their own success. I'm glad it was someone different who won it, and especially not one of the teams who sat back and left them to it.

Re the coverage - I think the commentators were completely hamstrung by the lack of information they were getting, which I believe is down to the organisers. Also, I think the roads were so narrow they couldn't get cars in amongst the peloton like they do in the TdF.

I hope Brad and Chris haven't overcooked themselves for the time trial.

SeashellsAllezModInYellowAllez · 28/07/2012 19:51

Yup, BBC have complained to the OBS who provide the pics...they are claiming to have had a gps problem that should be fixed for the women's race tomorrow :)

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 28/07/2012 22:44

You know what, I am going to cheer the girls on tomorrow. For Brailsford who seems gutted. Not as gutted as poor Cav though.

Thank you so much everyone for keeping me updated! Now home again, with power and wifi! I have tweeted at Cav and Millar, they both sound so down :( Millar says he thinks Cav needs a hug from the nation.

Well, if I were to meet Cav tomorrow, I would give him a hug - I do long, squeezy hugs - and this is what I would say: do not be downhearted. You have been hobbled by the rest of the world refusing to chase the breakaway because they think you are too damn dangerous. And they are right. The Team GB road cycling team is everything we could want, and not bringing home a medal doesn't change that, it doesn't make you any less magnificent. I am proud to have a team made of such extraordinarily talented men representing Great Britain, and I am honoured to call you my countrymen. You have done all we could have asked of you and more. Thank you.

LostInWales · 29/07/2012 09:49

^^ What evilgiraffe says.

frostyfingers · 29/07/2012 11:06

I'd give them all a hug, I can't begin to imagine how gutted they must feel. I'm forsaking my gardening this afternoon to support the women - not much contest really, but it's a sacrifice I'm prepared to make.....! Fingers and toes crossed for them today.
