D'y ever wonder how life got like this?

New to MN but like what I read so far. Struggling to get by day by day at the minute and feeling isolated but not enough to make the effort to join in the 'groups' the whole world seems to think are just what I need!!!!

Have daughter of 4 and girl and boy twins of eight months. Not had time since they were born when all three kids have been well, am I just cursed? Throw in a house move that took 6 months, a partner that works away most of the week and a mother-in-law I can wait another lifetime to deal with and I've ended up the sort of person I used to look at and wonder how life got like that.

Anyone give me hope that when the babes are eighteen months I'll feel better?!! If not, anyone tell me that alternate nights of gin then chocolate is an ok passage through?

Hello all
Not had much time for posting - but my two babies are sleeping at the moment so I thought I would pop on to say hi! I also had a full nights sleep last night! hopefully it wasn't a fluke and there wil be many more to follow! They are 15 weeks now - I can't believe where the time has gone.
FG - your twins sound so cute and funny - I can't imagine what it will be like when I have 2 to run after
Kelly - really pleased that meeting dp's family went well - it must be great for the boys to meet their uncles/grandparents etc
Mars - hope the PC is sorted soon!
HM - glad the pregnancy is going well - are you going to find out the sex at your next scan?

frumpygrumpy · 12/05/2006 13:24

HM thats great news, I've been wondering about you! After my DD I kept thinking I wouldn't know what to do with a boy if I got one and so I was a bit concerned when the scan showed a (big Grin) willy!! They couldn't be 100% sure whether DT1 was a girl but they thought she was. I wanted to know both sexes in advance but it kept some excitement going until the birth. (I don't mean at all that I wasn't excited having a boy as well, he's just lovely). I'm happy for you and what a novelty having just the one in there! Grin

JuA, wow 15 weeks, that has gone in fast. Are you a shadow of your former self? How fantastic a full night! Hope many more are coming your way.

PC still kaput! New one needed as the hard drive is irreparable. However, he's managed to save the programmes and my work (despite the fact that I don't need it anymore cos I'm onto the next essay).

C'est la vie.

I've got a gorgeous French girl staying with me for the next couple of months. She's wonderful! I may keep her and never send her home lol!

Hoping to have internet access from Monday. Pray! lol

frumpygrumpy · 13/05/2006 15:14

Hi Marsy girl! I hope she's gorgeous on the inside. Personally I don't do gorgeous on the outside, well, maybe if they're under 6 Grin Grin Grin

Kelly1978 · 13/05/2006 23:44

lol, praying for internet access for u, mars! Wouldn't it be cheaper to jsut replace the hard drive?

I can't sleep, so sitting with a mug of hot choc. The house is so quiet, all asleep apart from me. Had another day with the inlaws. The boys are due to have all their hair chopped off in a months time (religious reasons), and I'm really not sure about it. They will look awful and I'm worried about sunburn/stroke. Not sure what to do and they want to know if we're gonna do it or not, hmmmm!

juA, glad to hear you hanging in there, hope you've had some more good nights.

hm, you are almost making me broody! Grin

MarsLady · 14/05/2006 23:31

Hiya ladies. I'm back!

I've been lent a laptop until I sort myself out with a new computer.

Kelly.... I think that I want a new one. Was never keen on the pc I had lol! Still.... what I dream of is an iMac. I've seen a lovely one. Bit pricey...but a girl can dream lol!

So.... my DTs are beginning to sleep through the night...when they go to bed. They're not escaping as much as before, but that's because I'm not letting them have daytime sleeps. When it works I reap the benefits... when it doesn't I reap the wind!

My lovely french girl is just as, if not more, gorgeous on the inside. My house has never been so tidy. She's making the kids lazy... I have to get her to stop! lol. I adore her and so do the kids. She gets in from a long day at work and apologises for not being back in time to help me with tea, bath and bed lol! What an angel.

Am now doing my third assignment which is only a week and a half late (no surprise there then!). Went to a tutorial only to find out that it wasn't my tutor but the other group. The tutor was just plain rude. However, I stuck it out and hopefully it will pay dividends. Have a tutorial on Thursday with my lovely tutor and so no more excuses, I have a computer and I have internet access... off to study I go (but maybe tomorrow!)Grin

It's good to be back!

frumpygrumpy · 15/05/2006 12:58

Hi girls! I quickly read your last posts - read Kelly was getting slightly broody and read Mars wanted a new one Shock. Then I re-read more slowly Grin.

Glad the pc situation is progressing. I started a "what's the Mars update" thread last week and I almost killed my own thread Grin Grin It was nearly a mumsnet first - had to reply to myself for long enough Grin Grin Grin. Good to have you back. I do not like the french girl story. It smacks of organisation, cleanliness, happy families and hearty food Wink. Mind you if she can counsel a confidence flatliner as well as all that, pop her on a train would you and tell her I have a (once full) crate of champagne in the garage.......

Kelly, that doesn't sound like you, not being able to sleep. Is it just the hair/in laws/religion or is there more.....

I would not at all be keen for mine to have their heads shaved. But thats probably for completely selfish reasons. I'm all for everyone having their own religions and beliefs and I'm fully supportive of that but (and this is only me) I'm not at all religious and I kind of want my kids to be old enough to decide for themselves without encouraging them down any path (including the one I walk). However, if its only because of the practical reasons you mentioned (the sun) then don't worry, the hair will grown really quick and might even be beautifully cool for a while. I hope I've not offended anyone, not meant really.

My mum is here dishing out soup and pittas and I'm meant to be sorting out the holiday tartan for the clan. I'm dragging my heels....maybe just one cup of tea and a creme egg first ShockSmile.

wb mars, we missed you! I'd lvoe a mac. Nearly bought one last time, but was worried about compatibility issues as I needed to work on a pc too. Can you get the computing grant fromt he OU to put towards it? I got one when I started. I still haven't been to any tutorials.

The hair is mainly for cosmetic and practical reasons. I don't mind about the religious aspect, as it isn't committing them to anything, and they can decide about all that when they are old enough. I've decided they aren't doing shay, as it is only hte oldest that needs doing and so technically that is ravi. Shay is fairer skinned, so more likely to burn and also has far finer and more slow growing hair. Srill to decide on ravi. It is important to them, so in a way I think I should let them do it, as it isn't going to hurt him, but I don't want to as I'm convinced he will look awful!

I couldn't sleep cos of thrush, no other reason. Blush

Oh,a nd the dts are starting to talk! Rav's fav word is 'quack'! He has a book with a duck on it and walks around with it going quack quack. Grin I was so proud, he also manages dog and woof.

MarsLady · 15/05/2006 17:44

I can get a computing grant? Where, how, when? lol

Will be back to chat properly later as I need to dish up shortly.

I'm adoring my french girl (have I said that before?lol). She's wonderful. I'm making her toad in the hole today. She's keen on roast potatoes too. So, a few cookery lessons and then she's good to go.

I have a couple coming to see me about doula-ing for them this evening. So, we'll see. Grin

FG...once you've had your new set of quads I'll give thought to having another. lol Grin

Kelly1978 · 15/05/2006 18:51

I checked, and it is only available if you qualify for maximum course fee grant Sad and on a course with a computer requirement. In my first year I was still a single parent and I qualified, as the course required me to access legal databases online.

frumpygrumpy · 17/05/2006 14:25

Hi Kelly, sorry about the thrush babe, Boots do a cream Actavall which is just like Canesten really but I found it good. Hope its better, there's nothing worse.

I tried to pick up some holiday things today but the DTs just said no all the way! "No apple, no drink, no grapes, no car", we came home and I made lunch "no eggs", "no chocolate"!!!!! Now they are napping and I'm eating the chocolate. Well, they had their chance.....Grin

Hi Marsy girl! Hols are in July but with me being such a pernickety soul I'm chipping away constantly. I always find it hard to predict how big kids will be when you go away and so what size to buy...etc. Then DDs passport has been tricky - I noticed (after 5 years of using) that her current one has her down as 'M' for male!!!! Now I'm applying for a renewal as a girl......I'm currently under surveillance I think, they told me they have noted on the file "mother volunteered the information". As I said on my thread I started, I'm obviously smuggling kids, 2 pregnancies, 3 children Grin. The DTs passports are here though and they look so lovely. Makes a mother proud.

Feeling really good just now. Lets hope it stays this time.

And.... when I have my next one will you be my doula?

By the way, where have all the hunky men in RL gone? I did an experiment tonight coming back from gym class with DD - not one man that I would want to get up close and personal with Shock Grin

And... I know who's hiding the lookers?????????

frumpygrumpy · 22/05/2006 13:24

Hi girls, hope your all doing fine. I have news.

I HAD A FULL NIGHTS SLEEP LAST NIGHT***

C'mon singalong now "HEY, WHAT A FEE-LIIIIIN WHEN YOU'RE DANCIN ON THE CEI-LIIIIN" and repeat.

DT1 slept , DT2 always does, even DD (who gets me up to chum her and chat to her on the loo before smoothing her brow and kissing her back into sweet dreams EVERY night) slept through. I stupidly went to bed at midnight though!

And again, singalong now "HEY, WHAT A FEE-LIIIIIN WHEN YOU'RE DANCIN ON THE CEI-LIIIIN" and repeat.

I waited. It came.

oops!

Kelly1978 · 23/05/2006 11:10

I don't really understand this buying for holiday business I'll just be packing what they normally wear. I'm quite pleased that nearly all the older two's clothes from last year still fit them. I did buy them all some of those UVA sunsuits last week, and they look really cute! Need the weather to warm up now so they can get wet int he garden. I can't wait for holiday time, the boys are so demanding, that should be just about enough to keep them entertained.

Ravi has learned to pull evil faces whenever he is told off, it is v funny, but I don't know where he got it from. They are mostly directed at daddy and it really annoys dp when I tell rav off and he shoots an evil at daddy! Shay is happy just to stick his fingers anywhere they are not wanted, and then he does a great woody woodpecker laugh.

MarsLady · 23/05/2006 11:11

I wouldn't mind a holiday kelly. I'm trying to get my mind around the fact that I will be potty training twins next week. I wanted to do them one at a time, gulp!

Best go get the potties down.

Kelly1978 · 23/05/2006 11:11

Oh, and meant to say well done on the sleep fg! And where are you going in July?

Kelly1978 · 23/05/2006 11:14

Nooo, it's OUR turn for holiday now! Grin

frumpygrumpy · 23/05/2006 14:07

Kelly gets smashed up by a barrier (oooowwww) and Marsy is done over by a thing . Too, too sad. I've posted on the car thread but I'll say it again, I believe in karma, it will come. I hope today finds you less shaken (it does take a while) and that your bruises will be soothed and kissed away by your brood. Stay at home as much as possible for a day or two to find security again and to let those who really matter stand beside you.

Someone sent me the book Chicken Soup for the Mothers Soul when I had DD. I believe there is a Chicken Soup for the Soul too, someone needs to whizz that round to you to restore all the good things and squash out the rest.

Smile

Take it as easy as you can girls x.
