D'y ever wonder how life got like this?

New to MN but like what I read so far. Struggling to get by day by day at the minute and feeling isolated but not enough to make the effort to join in the 'groups' the whole world seems to think are just what I need!!!!

Have daughter of 4 and girl and boy twins of eight months. Not had time since they were born when all three kids have been well, am I just cursed? Throw in a house move that took 6 months, a partner that works away most of the week and a mother-in-law I can wait another lifetime to deal with and I've ended up the sort of person I used to look at and wonder how life got like that.

Anyone give me hope that when the babes are eighteen months I'll feel better?!! If not, anyone tell me that alternate nights of gin then chocolate is an ok passage through?

lol Grin

I have to find a way to lock my greenhouse. The DTs have discovered the garden shears and the spade. Great!!!!!!!!!!!

My DTs love to lift up my top and say... "belly mummy, lubbly belly mummy!" Sigh...................

FrumpyGrumpysatonawall · 08/04/2006 20:32

HM, I'm glad your DTs are helping keep your mind off the wait a little bit. I've been thinking about buying a mezzaluna (didn't know the proper name) - do they really help? I just chop my herbs a la bigknifesorefinger.

Mars, Kelly, I will work on it. It may take me time but I will work on it. You guys are too much fun to miss out on! Bugger the sights though, just a chance to eat real food without limit of time and a limitless blether will see me through!! I'm waiting on DP returning with some indian food - ooops the cross trainer will need to wait. However, I bet no-one on their death bed says "oh god, I wish I'd had more chances to sweat buckets, feel like my lungs were going to implode and that my leg muscles would snap on my cross trainer". Having it makes me feel fitter Grin and you do need to eat to stay alive Grin.

DP is off for just over a week so my posts could be a bit intermittent (sp?). Its the thought that counts though eh? And I think of my DT sharing, life saving, silent friends most often!

Happy weekends all x.

MadameDeMars · 09/04/2006 02:12

Have a lovely week with your DP. I'm sure he'll be almost as much fun as us lol!

DT1 fell asleep in her highchair this evening. They've been trying to drop their day time sleep for ages and haven't had it for 2 days. It's meant that the nights have been better, but who knows how long it will last.

Went salsa dancing tonight. It was lovely. I wasn't too late because of the babysitters.

Right... off to my bed now. Kisses to you all. Still praying HM Smile

Kelly... where are you? At a family gathering again? lol Grin

Kelly1978 · 10/04/2006 09:30

I've spent nearly the whole weekend with them! We were supoposed to be meeting at the mandir on sunday anyway as its the third anniversary of his grandad passing away today. That was scary, as I'd never been to that one. I don't think they ever see a white face there normally, plus it's one that is special to their family, and they know the priest really well, etc.

Anyway, on the saturday they invited them selves over and didn't leave until 10pm, so we ended up seeing them both days. I am seriously knackered. Ravi is very clingy and unsure of strangers so I've spent two days with a dt on my hip. I really don't know how to get him out of it.

Akshay is more outgoing, he just charges around demolishing stuff. They are both walking now. We ended up in bed at 9pm as we got home, gobbled kebabs and both fell asleep on the sofa. On the plus side, I'm gettign to know them and I've not cooked hardly at all this week! We keep bringing bucket loads of food back from theirs and between that and takeaways I've only cooked twice all week. Grin

Next weekend dp has four days off so I'm hoping we will actually get some time for US! We should be going to meet his mum next weekend too. I feel a bit overwhelmed, meeting all this strange ppl. Grin I think it is all going ok, but they are very wary, because there have been mixed relationships before that haven't worked out, so it seems like we will always be having to prove ourselves. The language thing is increasingly awkward too, they all think it is easy and expect me to understand it! Smile

ds1 and dd seem to be enjoying all the fun of it, they had water fights yesterday. I felt rather Sad though when dd asked when they can see my parents. Things are so strained there now, and they don't want to see us for fear that there might still be bedbugs around. Angry They are being rather selfish, cos they are worried that they might get them (impossible) so don't even want me going up to them.

I think I've written another essay haven't I?? Well, this is much more fun than TMAs Grin Have a good week, fg, doin't forget about us. Smile Glad to hear you are having fun with the dts, hm. I didn't know what a mezzaluna was neither, though I do have one. It is ok, but I find all the herbs get stuck up it so I prefer the bigknifesorefinger. I have global knives, very posh, made by japanese craftsman with a samurai sword history. Bloody lethal though - I chopped a chunk out of my thumb last time I sharpened them, which bled for hours. Blush

harrogatemum · 11/04/2006 13:27

Ladies - the news is good. I had the scan and there was a strong heartbeat and a 7 weeks + embryo! I cant believe it I am so relieved.

Thank you all for your kind words! I am at work now trying to get my head round some invoices but struggling!!

MadameDeMars · 11/04/2006 17:27

Praise God and Hallelujah! Grin

Oh I'm so so so pleased HM Grin Just wonderful news! Grin

Kelly1978 · 12/04/2006 09:16

fantastic new hm, so pleased for you! Grin Grin

harrogatemum · 12/04/2006 10:31

awww thanks guys, you are all so good to me! Feeling really sick today as well but no help at home as DH has Man Flu!

FrumpyGrumpysatonawall · 12/04/2006 20:39

Aw HM thats fantastic! How exciting and fresh congratulations to you!! I've had a leg wax in prep for our w/end away but the stubbly bits are standing on end I got so excited!!! This is great news and I'm smiling for you. Hopefully your pregnancy will be plain sailing now on in.

God Mars your last post was timed 2.10am!!!!! When do you sleep girl? Personally I just rest my eyelids for 10 minutes at a time because DT1 (always a bad sleeper) has turned into a nightmare sleeper. She is clinging to me like wet toilet roll and cries most of the night with nothing apparently wrong. She wakes every night like this but usually settles again after a half hour or so. But lately its ALLLLLLL night. DT2 still not right and running a temp again today and DD never sleeps a full night. DPs week off and we are kind of at fever pitch through lack of sleep......

Anyway, its still preferable to being alone and having school etc.

Kelly that sounds just fantastic about your new found inlaws. Its hard keeping the balance with your own but if they are not so flexible to see past skin colour and bed bugs then you just have to work with it i.e. have a life and fit them in if and when. It maybe only highlights how you would prefer things to be and that can be difficult. However, you are a strong woman who has overcome and you deserve to be around those who wont pull you down. I'm glad you have this new opening.

Girls, I have chinese food awaiting me so I'm sure you'll forgive my rudeness.......

Peaceful nights all xx

MadameDeMars · 13/04/2006 02:33

Another late post FG. DT1 threw up last night, DT2 tonight! Ah the joys..... and I'd forgotten to turn the computer off. Then the temptation to look in on MN yada yada..................

Hope you enjoyed your chinese.

Much love to you all. If you don't see much of me for the next week (like I'd be able to log off lol) it's cos I'm drowning in my OU course. I seriously need to finish TMA02 this weekend, cos TMA03 is due at the end of April and I haven't even read the play. I've never read or seen Anthony & Cleopatra so I need all the study I can get.

DD1 is in Ireland with friends, DD2 is in France with friends. DS1 has come home with his cousin. So from 5 to 4 Grin Still at least the boys can look after themselves and take themselves out! Nighty night!

Kelly1978 · 13/04/2006 11:28

my tma 02 is due the end of the month and I have about three weeks work to do before I can even start it and still no laptop. Sad All my work, notes, and cribsheets are on there so I really can't do the TMA without it. They called today saying that they think it was my power lead (which they said not to send them) and the laptop is fine. They jsut aren't sure if they have one in stock, so I don't know how much longer it is going to be. I think I gonna have to ask for an extension. I've never asked before, though I got one granted post late submission after the dts were born.

MadameDeMars · 13/04/2006 11:30

How annoying for you Kelly. Actually I need to get up and go and do some work on mine right now. I'll be fine once I start. It's the starting....................

Kelly1978 · 13/04/2006 11:45

hmm, I think I might follow your example. Grin I really should at least do some coursework, I can't sit here waiting for my laptop for another week.

MadameDeMars · 15/04/2006 21:14

Well MN going down was a blessing for me. Got half of the assignment out of the way and starting to feel confident about finishing it! Grin

Am off salsa dancing in a wee while.

Trying to work out how to keep the DTs in their beds. They have graduated from the cots and don't I know it! lol

How's it going HM? Are you still grinning with joy? I am!

FG...put Mr FG down and come post.

Kelly... how's your work coming or are you at another family party? rofl

harrogatemum · 16/04/2006 12:24

I am fab - feel really sick, really queasy and the DTs are waking every night with DT2 screaming uncontrollably, but so what hey? I am still pregnant, hoorah!!!

MadameDeMars · 16/04/2006 15:35

Lol HM... and you know that I mean that with love Grin

So far the DTs haven't done the whole nightmare thing. I'm kinda dreading it because DS1 and DD2 had awful night terrors and I don't know if I could cope if both of the DTs had them.

At the moment my pressing concern is keeping them in their beds when they first go to bed. It's a big game for them to come downstairs with their empty bottles and say... "Milky all gone Mummy. More?" Sigh..................

Kelly1978 · 18/04/2006 10:59

assignment? what assigment? Grin

I haven't been near the pc all weekend. Sad friday his family had the boys, saturday we were getting jobs done, sunday we went to his parents (first time!), monday they had the boys for the day and then came to ours for a bbq. It's been crazy and I'm shattered. Laptop should be back today and I think i'm going to be working every evening this week to catch up. Sad

MadameDeMars · 18/04/2006 12:01

It sounds like a good weekend (minus the jobs lol) Kelly. Really happy for you.

I haven't done the second half yet. Need to get remotivated. In fact I'm about to log off so that I can concentrate. I've done a load of laundry and am about to make lunch and then hit the books. DD2 is due home in about 30mins. DD1 came home on Saturday and DS1 has just gone on a sleepover.

DTs needing my attention now, so off I pop! Sigh............... Grin

Tortington · 18/04/2006 12:07

Tortington · 18/04/2006 12:16

Kelly1978 · 18/04/2006 12:23

You won't know they are there! The dts take up hardly any space and the 3yo and the 5yo are VERY quiet. Grin

MadameDeMars · 18/04/2006 12:26

...and with the 5 that I have custy.... no need for you to be bored again! Grin
