D'y ever wonder how life got like this?

New to MN but like what I read so far. Struggling to get by day by day at the minute and feeling isolated but not enough to make the effort to join in the 'groups' the whole world seems to think are just what I need!!!!

Have daughter of 4 and girl and boy twins of eight months. Not had time since they were born when all three kids have been well, am I just cursed? Throw in a house move that took 6 months, a partner that works away most of the week and a mother-in-law I can wait another lifetime to deal with and I've ended up the sort of person I used to look at and wonder how life got like that.

Anyone give me hope that when the babes are eighteen months I'll feel better?!! If not, anyone tell me that alternate nights of gin then chocolate is an ok passage through?

AnnieT - now can I be really, really nosy and ask what you pay you nanny? I pay £8ph cash in hand. Not looking forward to all the tax and NI stuff - how do you deal with it.

annietwin · 17/03/2006 11:46

Hello everyone,
Sorry I didn't get back sooner goldenoldie. I didn't get a chance to get onto the computer yesterday. I took DTs to the dentists for the first time and they were so well behaved! They loved the chair going up and down. DT1 has 16 teeth and DT2 has 12. Very proud mummy moment (but then the dentist looked at my teeth and said I need to come back to have some fillings redone. GGGrrrrrrr).
Anyway, perhaps we'd better continue our conversation about nannies' pay off-line... I haven't disguised myself very well (obviously called annie, have twins and live in N1!). Not that I'm embarrassed by what I pay or anything, but you never know who might be reading this.

goldenoldie · 17/03/2006 12:35

no prob. my e-mail is jlbmum at hotmail dot co dot uk.

FrumpyGrumpy · 20/03/2006 13:19

Hiya girls.

I've got an itch. Can't scratch it. Just feel like I wana DOOOOO something. Esp something that doesn't involve planning, arranging, cleaning, cooking and leaves my house and children looking like heaven when I return.

Like in real life y'know! Grin

Well, I thought about packing a bag and fleeing the town but then I realised that involved more work than staying still so I stayed still!

Are you all off being real mum's then?

FrumpyGrumpy · 22/03/2006 19:39

MMMMAAAAAAARRRRRRRSSSSSS!!!!

You can't be serious!!!! Can you???

How fantastic! I'm in awe! I'm amazed! I'm insanely jealous! If you'd told me I'd have cashed in my ration book and bulldozed my way in! How utterly gorgeous, I want to hear every story, every wave of the sea, every ripple of tummy flab, every drop that was drunk, every misty eyed dream moment, every 6pm sun-going-down-I-think-we'll-shower-now, every 7pm shall-I-pour the-gin-while-you-shower-or-will-you-pour-while-i-shower, every 8pm will-we-eat-in-or-out, every 10pm isn't-this-just-HEAVENLY.

Am going to make the packed lunch, put on a wash, shower and meet back here in a while with a(nother) glass of white and beans on toast to hear/read it all......

I'll be in London later this year, I'm trying to think of a story for DP that would find me time to meet up......

OP posts:
LemonDrizzleLady · 22/03/2006 22:00

FG..............totally serious!!!!! Grin Would have to meet you to tell you the full details Wink

Went with my best mate! Grin NO kids, no others. Just us. We can relax in style... and at night...........dancing till dawn. Then back to the beach to sleep it all off.

We ate at a lovely local woman's hut at the end of the beach. She even packed us food for the plane home. You should've seen the looks and heard the gasps of envy at what we had to eat compared to them.

Will fill you in more later, but for now time to catch up with Desperate Housewives. Did I mention the fact that I wore string vests, rippled gently (or not so) out of my tankini (was too chicken to do the bikini thing...but not next time)? Did I mention the fact that it was at least 25 each day and night? Did I mention the salsa dancing, reggae dancing and the soca dancing? Or the steel bands? The gorgeous Rastas on the beach? The amazing local food? Grin

Oops...DH time! lol

goldenoldie · 23/03/2006 12:41

What did you do to convince DH to have the kids?

LemonDrizzleLady · 23/03/2006 13:45

I reminded him that they were his! lol

I explained that I needed a holiday from my work. His holiday from work means leaving it all behind, so it naturally followed that mine should as well Grin

FrumpyGrumpy · 23/03/2006 14:19

Shock Shock Shock Shock I'm still stunned.

Well, did my pc just flatly refuse to play last night! Was sitting here with my baked potato desperate to be updated and had to wait until now!

Thats soooo fantastic and I can see it, feel it, smell it, and almost touch it if I shut my eyes when I stick my hand in the sandpit (and the sun is gloriously shining so that's helping). Good for you woman, you deserve it big time as well. I heard some sad news this morning and it reminded me that life is for grabbing every step of the way. I'm glad you grabbed it and I've booked my next night out so I'm getting there too. Did you feel the air tingle when you stepped out off the plane - thats my favourite moment of being somewhere tropical, the air is so balmy and it encompasses you in one huge whoosh of heat. Post a photo....you don't have to be in it......just the scenery. My last tropical holiday was to Bali and Hong Kong the year before I got pregnant with DD (1999 I think). Since then we've gone to Mallorca for the warmth and the ease of travel (still lovely but I'm aching to walk along a tropical beach at 10pm soaking it all in.......)

I bet the best bit was packing - wow - only your stuff Shock. We're going away in July and I'm trying to get things together now! I had planned we wouldn't go away until maybe next summer because I'm such an obssesive (I know, silly frump) about getting it all right and getting us all together and away. After DD was so ill in hospital I thought "stuff it, if we can manage that we can manage a plane journey". Now I'm regretting it! Still, once we're there and the wine is open......

Now, just got to sort out my body before then and I'm still open to a full transplant Grin.

LemonDrizzleLady · 23/03/2006 22:26

Happy birthday twinnies Grin

Of course you can see my "white" bits FG lol Grin

I'm still waiting for my TMA back Kelly. My tutor's wife had a baby last week and so they haven't all gone out yet. He's gonna try and scan it and email it to me if he can, plus I can have an extension on the next assignment cos he doesn't think it's fair that I send in the next before getting the first back Grin

harrogatemum · 24/03/2006 10:21

I am soooo jealous of your hols Mars (aka LDLady).

I had arranged a big walk round some gardens in the centre of Harrogate today with all my other mum friends and guess what - it is dull, raining and generally crappy. So we are stuck indoors. So instead they are all descending on us - yikes!!

Both DTs now walking BTW! Its great fun!

LemonDrizzleLady · 24/03/2006 11:48

Walking is a whole other experience with twins lol. Now things have to move even higher.

Miserable, grey, crappy weather here too so my friend and I are going out for a lovely caribbean lunch with Pina coladas Grin

Kelly1978 · 24/03/2006 12:16

do you keep ur twins tucked away in a drawer somewhere or something ml? Envy

I dream of baby free time...sigh!

LemonDrizzleLady · 24/03/2006 12:36

In fact I need to get them ready now. I pick up the photos of the holiday today and bf and I are going to be reminiscing over lunch Grin
