D'y ever wonder how life got like this?

New to MN but like what I read so far. Struggling to get by day by day at the minute and feeling isolated but not enough to make the effort to join in the 'groups' the whole world seems to think are just what I need!!!!

Have daughter of 4 and girl and boy twins of eight months. Not had time since they were born when all three kids have been well, am I just cursed? Throw in a house move that took 6 months, a partner that works away most of the week and a mother-in-law I can wait another lifetime to deal with and I've ended up the sort of person I used to look at and wonder how life got like that.

Anyone give me hope that when the babes are eighteen months I'll feel better?!! If not, anyone tell me that alternate nights of gin then chocolate is an ok passage through?

Lost it with the cat this morning - boys had been up since 3 so his meowing was the last straw.

Going away this weekend now, DH away tonite working, so I need the company. Going to his mums, she can rescue me from this pit of despair and take me shopping tomorrow.

Hi FG. I have just come home from a lovely break without the twins etc in Britanny.

Lovely.

How are you doing babe?

triplets · 20/08/2005 22:11

Hi all,
Just to let you know I am still around. Just got back from Cornwall, a blissful second week staying with my best friend down near the Lizard, first week was a living hell. Took our trailer tent, first time we have used it, and camped near the Eden Project, which was brill by the way. Well it took over a day to set up camp properly, then the wind and the rain came and it was freezing. I hated every minute of it, kids running off, finding Rebecca in a tent with her new friend and her father almost two fields away at 10pm, James crying because the bigger kids kept sending him away from the play area, swimming pool freezing as the heating had broken, oh I could go on, it was just my idea of hell. I know the kids enjoyed it, but it was such hard work as I seem to be expected to churn out gourmet meals and keep them hot! We just seemed to row every night, and one night I was sooooooooo angry I wanted to chuck my glass of wine over him, instead I stormed out of the tent and threw it over the car! He would go spare if he knew, but it made me feel better at the time! Then with the traffic it took us 10 hours to get home, I have spent two days sorting out, washing, putting away etc, is it worth it? My friend said, "but why do you bring so much stuff"? Well she has never had children, let alone triplets! Anyway, nice to be back on here for a little moral support, hope your summer has been better!

MarsLady · 20/08/2005 22:17

Hi triplets. Sorry that the hols weren't as good as you were expecting.

I often find that people think I have too much stuff when I take the twins anywhere.

Glad the second week was so good.

Kelly1978 · 30/08/2005 09:14

Hello girls,

We've jsut come back from a week in Spain. really don't want to be back. We had a great week, really hot weather, and everyone enjoyed themsleves. The babies weren't fazed by it at all, not even staying out til 12-1 at night!

They are doing really well, they are both rolling now, and akshay is starting to babble a bit, and blowing lots of raspberrys. They are close to sitting up too, on the beach with the support of the sand they could sit up really well. Still not sleeping thru properly, but can't have everything!

Hope everyone else ok. x x

MarsLady · 30/08/2005 09:19

good to see you about kelly. glad you had a good holiday!

we've moved into a new phase as well.... chattering. When I put them to bedthey chatter lol.

are they babbling at each other yet?

Kelly1978 · 30/08/2005 09:29

lol. only akshay is babbling, but they will coo at each other and if they are side by side they hold hands, it is so sweet! I'm dreading them getting mobile now, it seems to be getting ever closer, then I'm going to have to childproof everything. They already have a fascination with the coffee table and love chewing and dribbling all over the legs. When they are both rolling around the floor hae to be careful to dodge the puddles of dribble!

MarsLady · 30/08/2005 09:57

I never really bothered with childproofing anything until the DTs. They get into places so quickly. With the singeltons I could say no and that would be that. With the DTs they actively encourage each other and completely ignore me whilst grinning and giggling. Love them, but the house looks like crap.

Have decided to finish my OU degree so will be applying to start in February. They will be off at playgroup by then (can hardly believe how quickly that has happened). Not sure if my brain is continuing to work though lol.

You've been quite an inspiration actually cos you've studied whilst they were really tiny. So... I think I'm about ready to do it.. so thanks

Kelly1978 · 30/08/2005 12:53

Same here, I don't see how I'm going to be able to stop two. Plus I thought I was done with kids for a while so our place is completely child unfriendly, with lots of nice bits I don't want broken! i rteally need a set of crash barriers in front of all my units.
great to hear you doing OU next year. What are you studying? I've nearly finished for this year, just got to start revising for exam. DP is takign 4 days off near the exam so I can do some last minute cramming then. I've signed up to do two level 3s next year then will be all finished!!

FrumpyGrumpy · 31/08/2005 13:42

Hi All

Sorry I've not been about, my clockwork pc is finally giving up the ghost and it chooses what the weather is like before it decides if it wants to play! Know the feeling .

I'm feeling quite ok ATM (scared to commit to anything stronger than that in case it should jinx me), maybe its because my DP has been off work while we have a wall knocked down (yeah, not quite enough stress in life, felt things were just a bit too easy). He goes back on Monday so we'll see. DT1 started school last Thursday and I'm still reeling from that. She seems happy though and thats the main thing. DTs are walking and getting chatty and I can't fathom them from one hour to the next!

Gotta run but back sometime soon.

Hi frumpygrumpy.. good to see you. Hope to see you again soon. Glad all okay at the moment.

Kelly... I started a literature degree then got pregnant with DD1. I managed 2 levels. Then I got too busy. Started again, got pregnant with DD2 and kept falling asleep so had to back out. Finally got off my butt to try again but discovered I was pregnant with the DTs. DH has had the snip... there will be no more babies, so it's time I finished. I'm really looking forward to it.

Kelly1978 · 01/09/2005 07:33

Literature must be so much more interesting than law! I signed up before I knew abt the dts, but I jsut went for it, not really expecting to get anywhere. I thought maybe I would have to drop one course nd continue with the other. I never expected to get this far full stop really. Good luck with it next year!
Hello FG, glad to see you still around. Good to hear things going well. The thought of walking dts seems a total nightmare, I'm dreading crawling!

Meeely2 · 05/09/2005 15:38

well howdy, doody!

Been a rollercoaster few weeks, Edward in hosp for localised chest infection on his sternum, caused by chicken pox, and then this weekend back to A&E with him, cos his conjunctivitis flared up and caused is lower eye lid to turn inside out! I been clinging onto the sanity throughout and done a pretty good job. DH behaving, we fallen out once or twice, but nothing major.

I know how kelly is, as we speak on MSN, but how is everyone else? FG, Mars, triplets?

FrumpyGrumpy · 07/09/2005 20:31

Hi girls, Meeely that sounds awful and you sound so cheery, well done honey. Is Edward a bit better and did he cleverly manage to share none of it with Arthur?

I'm ok. Not feeling quite so low and even having moments of laughter and occasionally feeling on top of the world. I get the feeling hormones are playing with me though - I have two large spots (attractive) and, I don't know if I can say this but I'm going to anyway, I'm horny aaaaallll the time . Not like me lately and not at all handy when you've not gone back on the pill, your DP ain't had the snip, you DEFINITELY don't want to add to your family and the very worst bit, your DP works away for a large part of the week. Mind you, only 1 of our 3 sleeps well so chance would be a fine thing.....

I can't believe I just shared.

Just read all the recent postings, good to hear how all your dt's are doing. Can't believe I havent posted since 10th July! Had the best holiday so far with the dt's.... 2 weeks in cornwall at the beginning of August, not bad weather and so we spent most of the time on the beach. They were so content that there was hardly any fighting! back home and straight back to the fighting though. Roll on january when they'll go to nursery.

Kelly1978 · 08/09/2005 11:47

lol, fg, great to see you so bright and happy.
hello TMPC, good to hear you had a nice hol. Ur lucky, only got to wait til Jan. DD went back to school today, jsut need to send the other three packing!

Meeely2 · 08/09/2005 14:32

Nursery is the best invention ever! saved my sanity!

Edwards infection wasn't contageous, so Arthur missed out - Edward had chicken pox very badly (he always has to outdo his brother) and it made his chest wall weak apparently and prone to infection. At first they thought it was a bone infection but x-rays were clear and the antibiotics worked a treat.

Anyway, just got conjunctivitis to contend with now and ponder on what they will catch next!

MarsLady · 10/09/2005 14:39

ooh I hope the conjunctivitis clears up and that health returns to your household.

Mine are biting at the moment. Fortunately it's each other, though they get me and the rest of the family occasionally. DT1 tried to bite my eye the other day. Ouch!

Parks are a nightmare, but hey ho.... that's life

MarsLady · 10/09/2005 14:59

Just to let you know kelly, having been inspired by you I have just re-registered with the OU. I hope they don't hold the fact that I dropped out cos of pregnancy against me.

FrumpyGrumpy · 11/09/2005 19:20

Am still horny and have a house guest staying over. Too tough.
Happy days all .

Your frustration is palpable!
