Ok I realise this should really be in Big/slim etc but I prefer it over here!

When I moan about my hugeness, friends say 'but you've had (pause) two babies' - my twins are nearly 8 months old so can really no longer be used as an excuse for the fact I'm at least two stone overweight.

PLEASE join me if any of you twin/more mums have flab to lose this year... I could do with the moral support. Anyone up for it?
I'm planning to do lowish-carb, kind of like SW red days I think. Could probably do with a clearer plan really.

Oh dear LL. I've told you before about your PSF - get rid! Find some slovenly lushes who make you feel positively skinny.
Seriously though, you'll soon reverse the fondue damage - if it goes on that quickly you can get rid quickly too.
Ophelia we have the same target weights. And roughly the same start weight.

Ok - Monday is my new weigh day.
Today's weight: 152lbs
Target Weight: 140 lbs
Loss so far: 2 lbs

I'm finding the light evening meal thing is working for me. Also, have tried to stop having a sandwich every single day. So today had rice, chicken and salad.
Tonight, lamb curry (home-made and v.healthy).

I'm still drinking vino most nights though...it's a hard habit to kick.

Can sympathise with that Lottie when you've been so strict and clear about what's what for so long. Would it be worth trying a slightly expanded version of what you've been doing? Say Dukan plus cheese - or whatever it is that you're most missing fat-wise. That way you're not risking a carb laden spiral of debauchery but it might alleviate the boredom a bit. It's been so successful for you so far though that I can imagine the terror of rocking the boat. I guess you will still lose whatever low-carb plan you follow - they do work don't they - worst case scenario you might have to bear the weight loss slowing a little.

Well done on 2 lb down MM! I hear you about the wine, I've had no booze at all since last week and it does make the evenings pretty grim when you've got so used to a nice little something. Surely one a day doesn't make THAT much difference..? (Anyone?)

Sounds like you had a nice weekend Ophelia Wink

Forgot to say I had a delightful dinner last night of chorizo, chicken and halloumi all roasted together and served with spinach - even managed to satisfy DH with that little lot! Lovely. Leftovers for lunch today.
Also I found some 97% sausages in M&S, cooked a batch the other night and have been pinging a couple for breakfast each day which neatly avoids the need to eat eight million eggs per week! Wierd but nice Smile

I'm struggling with not having wine, but I do only have 1 glass on weekdays and 2 glasses on weekend nights - toddler twins and hangovers just don't mix well!

I think that small an amount must be allowed - especially if I've been good for the rest of the day?

I had thai turkey curry last night, with reduced fat coconut milk and tons of beans, peas etc to bulk it up, so that's a good start to the week. It's pasta with homemade tomato sauce (fresh toms so it's more of a treat) and low fat feta tonight.

I feel more optimistic this week as I've done a meal planner and online shop, so I know I've got lots of healthy food available.

Fingers crossed for a loss this week Grin

MM well done on losing 2lbs last week, I'll have to try harder to keep up with you I think Grin

Morning all.

Well done Lottie

My scales look promising this morning too although I'm not taking it as official until weigh day on Sunday...

Running low on shopping which is always a dangerous situation. I've ordered the Nerys and India cookbook which hopefully will provide a bit of low-carb inspiration.
Chicken for dinner with cream, leek and bacon. Out for lunch so must stay strong - had to make do with a tiny pot of hummus and celery yesterday as this seemed to be the best of a bad lot in Starbucks (also Starbucks coffee is vile don't you think?)

Good luck with your days!

Oh dear had half a baked potato with lunch, not exactly ideal.

Tartiflette well done!

Lottie it's so easy to undo a week's good work isn't it? Hope you had a good night out though!

I'm ashamed to say I've lost nothing - but I did discover (and eat) some more leftover christmas goodies, so it wasn't a big surprise.

I've bought a load of WW yogurts, so while DH finishes the christmas goodies a dessert, I can have fruit and yogurt.

Well done everyone on the pounds dropping off. I didn't lose anything last week and found it a bit disheartening. So have decided to try and up the exercise regime. Am finding it hard to stay off the cake so maybe running will balance it out?

Tartiflette is the nerys and India diet and book good? Is it a low carb diet?

smokeybacon · 25/01/2011 07:58

Just been on amazon and read some reviews of nerys and India. Sounds very similar to the harcombe diet that I am sort of doing and was lacking in inspiration on. Should get it tomorrow so hope it will inspire me. Doubt I will avoid cake today as have a MN post natal meet up and without doubt cake will be involved. I have nil will power if I see anyone else with a slice. A run then later.

tartiflette · 25/01/2011 09:05

Hi smokey - the one I bought is the recipe book rather than the actual diet book, it has loads of really good-looking low carb recipes which I will definitely use (and pass on Wink) ... but I think it would be best to have the actual diet book as well - there is an overview of their main points in the one I've got but it doesn't go into much detail. You'll have to give me a rundown when you get yours! I might order it too. At the moment I am just doing my own thing low-carb-wise but could probably do with more structure and definitely a plan for gradually upping the carb levels as the weight comes off (that's my danger zone...)

DH suggested a takeaway last night as we were both absolutely done in - I stayed strong though and we had measly salmon and green veg instead. Keep telling myself it will be worth it when I can wear nice clothes again!

hi all!

well done LL and tarti on weight loss!
LL as regards the Dukan diet, what happens at the end of the diet. Are you allowed to reintroduce carbs and fat? You are very disciplined to stick to this diet. I am bad at eliminating food groups. I love my weetabix for brekkie and I'm a big sandwich fan too.

Lost one pound last week.
Current weight: 151 lbs
target weight: 140 lbs
net weight loss: 3 lbs

My diet success at present is mainly due to extreme tiredness and not being physically capable of making anything nice to eat.

Ahh I see ll. Keep up the good work. You've done amazingly to lose 3 stone already. I am seriously impressed.

Just to give you some inspiration, I used to be a lot heavier until 7 years ago when I lost over 3 stone with WW and kept it off so it is achievable.

It is really interesting isn't it... I've never managed to keep it off either despite losing it all about three times. Also I always settle and stop dieting at a certain weight (usually just under 11 stone) where I feel not-fat-any-more rather than actually properly look-ok-in-swimwear, can wear skinny jeans thin (probably about a stone lighter). I don't know why that is either, I seem to have a problem actually visualising myself as someone thin. Gawd knows what the deep dark reasons are..... dread to think!

Hm well I've been weighing myself every day which is definitely not good for me because obviously I'm not losing every day, which tends to make me somewhat demoralised. But I haven't cheated yet. I assume gin and slimline is better than wine? Might treat myself at the weekend. Actually a few of these low carb diets seem to have a problem with diet coke and the like - is there a weight loss reason for that or is it just because they're full of dubious crap?

OP posts:
smokeybacon · 26/01/2011 21:18

Aaaarrghhh. Put on a pound! Thats not the way its supposed to go.

Anyway, India and Neris's book has arrived and have looked at it and it seems ok. Low carb with detailed plans for 2 weeks and no alcohol. Hmmmmmm. Thats the bit I will struggle with as can do Mon to Fri with no vino but like a glass or 3 on sat and sun.

So my plan is to no carb it until I can start the Idiot Proof diet on Monday next week. DH and I have a night away from the DCs on Sat in a hotel and there will def be wine involved.

tartiflette I think most of the low carb diets frown on diet coke as its full of rubbish and most of the diets involve cutting out processed food and caffeine.

tartiflette · 27/01/2011 10:21

I like the sound of detailed plans for two weeks. Might have to bite the bullet and get the book myself then. Don't be down about your pound smokey - will be off in no time. Lucky you with your night away! I still haven't had a night away from the babies yet, in fact I popped round for tea at a friend's house for two hours last night and realised it was the first time I'd been apart from them at all for weeks... no wonder I'm going bananas.

Anyway, diet-wise not fantastic last night as she had cooked thai salmon with noodles which I obviously had to eat. Just really really hope it doesn't spoil it for this week.

Oh bother will I have to stop drinking diet coke then? Surely they can't take that away from me?! I'm only stopping if it will actually stop me losing, I don't care about the e numbers Grin

OP posts:
smokeybacon · 27/01/2011 13:40

Get the book tartiflette. It was only £4.50 on amazon! Lots of inspiration on what to do on situations like you were in last night.

I love the evil diet coke too. Sometimes only a diet coke will hit the spot! But it must be good to give it up for a bit, no? It must be full of additives and stuff. A friend of mine must get through 3 cans a day. His stomach lining must be eroded away! So I just think about that when I want one. And then I don't want one anymore.

Anyway today I have done my Wii Active workout and done a 20 minute run. And had 3 choc chip cookies. Maybe thats why I've not lost any more weight?? Its the biscuits!
