Ok I realise this should really be in Big/slim etc but I prefer it over here!

When I moan about my hugeness, friends say 'but you've had (pause) two babies' - my twins are nearly 8 months old so can really no longer be used as an excuse for the fact I'm at least two stone overweight.

PLEASE join me if any of you twin/more mums have flab to lose this year... I could do with the moral support. Anyone up for it?
I'm planning to do lowish-carb, kind of like SW red days I think. Could probably do with a clearer plan really.

Hi all. Today going well so far. Just been to visit a friend and her 10 day old baby girl - gorgeous. Managed not to eat her, or the biscuits on offer. feel I have exercised a small amount of self control - a small victory!
Hope you enjoyed your night out LL!

tartiflette · 12/01/2011 15:48

Well done everyone!

So far today:

Breakfast: fried egg with mushrooms
Lunch: vegetable soup (with hunk of bread - oops)

instant I have set myself a target mostly because I am back to work in less than 2 months and really want to shift as much as possible before then - I need to be a bit extreme about it I think.

I'll join!! Twins born 6th November.
One stone now to lose to get back to pre preg weight.
Am doing the Harcombe diet - its basically no carbs. FOund it on here and it works. 5lb in 10 days.
No wine either. Having been off it for 9 months it should be easy shouldn't it????

tartiflette I heart your name. You are my favourite food ever and I can't eat you at the moment.

I know I heart myself too. Which explains my enormous girth at present.

Back on track today -

Eggs for breakfast

Ham and salad for lunch

Pork chops with swede mash and broccoli for tea (school dinners)

Is swede v high carb? Hope not cause I don't even like it that much - only thought of it as a way of appeasing DH's need for stodge. Cannot be bothered cooking two different things; how are you hardcore low-carbers dealing with that? Or have you roped your DPs in too? Mine is willing in theory but it takes a LOT to fill him up. Can't afford that much steak Grin

Have lost a pound - hooray!
Didn't do too badly yesterday but did have glass of wine (or two).
I need to get physical I reckon. Got out the house this morning with twins by 9:30am in the rain, all set for a brisk walk. Then had a flaming puncture so had to return home. Boo.

instantfamily · 14/01/2011 16:25

DH can't join my low-carb as susceptible to gout so shouldn't eat too much meat. But he's also trying to loose weight and tries to eat lots of veg which I am cooking anyway. If he's really hungry I just cook rice (yeah for the rice cooker) or pasta for him and the kids to go with what I am eating.

I find low-carb really expensive, I've noticed how much our food bills have gone up.

Do you all cook for breakfast? what no-cooking low-carb breakfasts do you have?

tartiflette · 15/01/2011 09:10

Yes I find it expensive too, though to be fair I do tend to get nice things like smoked salmon and steak to cheer myself up - I should could probably do it more cheaply.
If I'm not going to have time/energy to cook in the morning I try and remember to boil an egg or two the night before (sometimes mash up with some mayo - or have with ham - but depends what plan you're following as this is obviously not low fat). I don't know if I could manage very low fat as well as low carb to be honest, although if I don't see results pretty fast I might resort to it.

Well done on losses so far! Sundays are going to be my weigh day so will report back tomorrow... No booze last night, quite a result although it's not been the best week as have had to grab a sandwich for lunch a couple of times when dashing back and forth to appointments etc. Must be more organised from now on.

smokeybacon am off to research Harcombe. If I spent as much energy BEING on diet as I do reading about them I'd be very very thin Grin

hi all.

DH suggested having a carb-free supper last night Shock so we had a prawn and avocado salad. I felt so much slimmer this morning - stomach not as bloated etc. I think this could be the way forward - have carbs in the day (as am still breastfeeding) but then a light supper.

How is everyone? DH at the football today so am home alone with all 3 bambinos. Damn him!

TheVisitor · 15/01/2011 14:41

Hi all. My high dairy is skimmed milk, fat free cottage cheese, low fat cheese etc. I'm finding that if I have two fried eggs (done with frylite) on wholemeal toast (no butter) for breakfast keeps me going for ages, whereas porridge only kept me going till mid morning. I'm veggie, so using lots and lots of quorn and pulses.

I'm 167lbs and aiming for 135lbs

tartiflette · 15/01/2011 15:24

Yes I find that with porridge too thevisitor, which is odd as everyone else in the known universe seems to think it fills them up for longer. Protein with a moderate amount of fat seems to do the trick best for me.

MM sounds like a good (and workable) plan. Dieting only works for me if I have really clear rules (NONE of such and such / no whatever in the evenings etc).

Eggs for breakfast today (sick of this already)

Lunch: smoked mackerel fillets (going hardcore today)

Dinner: I think roast chicken. Not sure what if anything to have alongside...

OP posts:
tartiflette · 16/01/2011 08:21

Morning slimmers!

Current weight: 176lb
Target weight: 147lb

OP posts:
smokeybacon · 16/01/2011 12:44

So. Grrrr. No loss for me in last few days but have been cheating a bit so back on the diet proper now.

Breakfast: bacon eggs and tomato
Lunch: not sure yet but prob salmon fillet and salad
Dinner will be a roast dinner with lots if roast veg but absolutely no potatoes.

I will have vino tho as it's our wedding anniversary today so it would be rude not to.

But must do better. One stone loss still the target.

MonkeyMargot · 16/01/2011 14:08

smokeyB I'm also on for losing one stone.
Don't fret - I bet you lose weight this week. And of course you must have wine on your anniversary - hope you have a good one!
Morning tarti. So have you lost weight this week?

tartiflette · 16/01/2011 16:07

Happy anniversary smokeyb!

Urgh I am so tired of eggs for breakfast already and lacking in inspiration for other things to have... I love bacon but it takes time and feels like a bit of an undertaking on a weekday. What do other low carbers do?

Yum had a delicious lunch of bresaola with each piece having a dollop of cheese coleslaw in the middle, rolled them up like cigars and ate with fingers. It was lovely.

MM I don't actually know about this week's loss (or otherwise!) as I never weighed myself at the beginning... I am still heavier than I was before Christmas but am trying not to dwell! Definitely feel less bloated already despite not really being strict for a couple of days when the girls were particularly poorly. No more cheating for me though!

tartiflette The Harcombe diet allows natural yoghurt so I sometimes have a large bowl of natural greek yoghurt. As long as it has the probiotics in it complies with "the rules".

MarsLady · 16/01/2011 17:07
Wink
instantfamily · 17/01/2011 12:23

cheers Mars!

I don't like cooking for breakfast either. Stinks up perfumes the whole house way too early.

I have tried spreading anything spreadable (cream cheese, rillettes, smoked fish spread etc) onto cooked ham, bresaola, smoked salmon or lettuce leaves.

Also, Avocados are permitted. So, just a matter of cutting in half and adding some salad dressing (or prawn salad) to it.

Oh dear, I fell off the bandwagon this weekend as we had a friend staying Grin. Main meals weren't too bad, but far too many snacks and cake with coffee etc!

Will try again, starting today.
So start weight 154
Target 140
Height 5'5"
