What have you brought today?

I love people watching when sat in coffee shops when out shopping and would love to stop people and ask what they've brought today and what's in their carrier bags. Unfortunately, people probably wouldn't take kindly to it.

So I am going to ask MN what have you brought today?

I haven't brought anything today - rare for me to be honest to manage a complete no spend day.

Yesterday I spent:

  • £8 on a coffee and cake with my friend and daughter.
  • £6 on a chippy tea.

@Oldraver - I didn’t know these existed! I’ve just bought one too.

Was that the blanking plate ?

OH is now worried as I said it's paintable 😅

I know right the first at least 11 people who thought they needed to point it out have already told me.
🥱

I admit to reading your opening post and commenting, boldly ignoring all that's gone before. Ach well, at least I'm not alone in the bought/brought concern. 😬

AutumnJoys · 02/09/2024 10:29

😄gotta love MN and the desperate need people feel to point out anothers mistake!

Today, I have bought:

-essential oils from White Company (£25.50)
-Twister Air, a game from Amazon (£11.49)

I'm annoyed at myself for spotting these bargains on the bargain thread in the Christmas section, as I'm trying to save money, it's clearly not going so well as it's only 10:30!

Desperate?
Sure. 🫣

Yes, desperate.

When umpteen other people have already told her, yet the next person simply CANNOT sit by and allow an error to occur and MUST tell the OP personally immediately how wrong they are.

Some people just read the OP and then reply. Some don't realise it has fifty replies already or on to page four.

The first is just daft when there's a 'read all' for OP's posts at least. Basic manners to read OP's posts at least.

The second must be pure stupidity. How can you not realise how many pages there are?

You don't have to wang on about the error, even if you get in first. I noticed it, but didn't feel the need to mention it because, you know, I understood the meaning.

Guilty as charged. 😬

Ohdearyme72 · 02/09/2024 19:32

Two bras, magnesium tablets, chocolate filled banana sweets for my neighbour and dog food.

BobbyBiscuits · 05/09/2024 13:47

@Restinpeacefavouritecoathanger haha. I've just realised I made a typo in my pedantic sentence. So I'm much much worse!
My spelling isn't great either, so I shouldn't really say anything 😀 x

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/09/2024 20:37

Today:-

in Lidl, their chocolate Bahlsen biscuit/chocolate biscuits, cottage cheese with chives and without chives, 1 grapefruit, large pack of nature valley bars, huge fake muller rice (6 pack). The muller are nicer… so are the real Bahlsen biscuits but cottage cheese, grapefruit and salsa (not bought today) are good.
Sainsbury’s cracker crisps and large pop chips with sea salt and vinegar, fishcakes
tescos felix tasty shred meat cat food, 2 Lindt hazelnut bars and 2 Lindt salted caramel bars.

This week I’ve also spent on sales clothes and shoes but it is my birthday tomorrow so… why not?

TeabySea · 07/09/2024 20:39

Some fancy soap, an overpriced cake, tea, and two Nutella waffles. All in about £30

CraigBrown · 07/09/2024 20:42

Some really expensive varifocal glasses plus eye test, new potato peeler and some sticky hooks.

Putting · 07/09/2024 20:43

Coffee, hot chocolate, 2 books and a pack of Pokemon cards.

Not all of those were for me!

  • £6 on a chippy tea.

Round here, £6 on a chippy tea would get 1 chip & a couple of mushy peas!

I’ve spent £2.95 on a Waitrose pre made Greek sale & £1.80 on flatbreads

AnnaCBi · 07/09/2024 20:47

I spent £8 on soft play. £10 in their cafe. £59 at Waitrose- not a big shop, but
included sushi for lunch. £40 at the butcher for steaks. £6 at m&s for chips and a soft drink for this evening.

not unusual, but reading it back reminds me that even though my weekends aren’t as exciting as they used to be, they aren’t exactly cheap!

Isabelle70 · 07/09/2024 20:52

A new router for £119 and the internet is still playing up. Looks like it might be the phone line even though the phone company said it was fine when they tested it…

Hair clips for my daughters advent bag £1

What’s an advent bag?

I spent £2 on nail clippers since my old ones completely fell apart last night!

OnNaturesCourse · 08/09/2024 21:18

Toaster & Kettle - £50
Microwave - £35
Tommee Prep Machine - £25
Insurance for the above - £11
Snacks/Treat for kids - £7
Candle holder - £4
Essential oil - £5
Mini food shop - £30

It was a expensive day.
Usually our Sundays are no spend days

Cuwins · 08/09/2024 21:19

@Pumpkittenspice
It's just a fill yourself advent calendar but instead of wooden drawers or something there are 24 little bags

AyeupDuck · 09/09/2024 17:42

In one charity shop I bought a double glass photo frame for a fiver, it was brand new and boxed and matches another that I have. I also bought a Crew clothing polo shirt BNWT in the same shop for a quid. In another charity shop I bought three DVD’s for a quid, 2 horror films and a brand new sealed comedy. I have been after one of the horror films for ages, it’s old and hard to get hold of. Also bought a sausage roll to eat round town. A few bits of veg and some cheese, was £9 and a lightweight blanket for the beach in the sale at Aldi reduced from £6.99 to £2.99.
