I love people watching when sat in coffee shops when out shopping and would love to stop people and ask what they've brought today and what's in their carrier bags. Unfortunately, people probably wouldn't take kindly to it.

So I am going to ask MN what have you brought today?

I haven't brought anything today - rare for me to be honest to manage a complete no spend day.

Yesterday I spent:

  • £8 on a coffee and cake with my friend and daughter.
  • £6 on a chippy tea.

Welcome to the pedantic world of Mumsnet. Where some people love to point out your mistakes, and when you're 'wrong.' 🙄 And every person who points it out thinks they're sooooo terribly clever, and original.

Take no notice @Restinpeacefavouritecoathanger To be honest, I didn't even notice!

Sorry but I disagree. Using brought instead of bought is a heavy mistake - and not at all pedantic to correct on mumsnet. Complaining about paragraphing or commas is maybe pedantic, but not the incorrect use of brought. People could judge you quite badly for that.

I've had a haircut and also bought paint for DS' bedroom.

It’s interesting seeing his different parents do things. Today on my way to a cafe I passed a woman who’d had her school age kids (boys) just have their hair cut there. She was saying how pleased she was.

Last Thursday when I got my hair done, a mother had her hair (highlighted) done and her 3 daughters ranging from 8 to 14 had their short bobs trimmed and their 14 year old. sister had a real change, long cut had a lot off and different style.

On that note, today I bought a coffee biscoff cake, an iced latte and a lunch out.

Underlig · 01/09/2024 18:48

Nothing.

Chickoletta · 01/09/2024 18:52

A pair of Uggs from Vinted. I had some money saved up from things I’ve sold, so they actually cost me £41.50. Chuffed with that.

CurlewKate · 01/09/2024 19:10

A vintage Coach hobo bag on EBay. Impulse and now I'm petrified!

Notellinganyone · 01/09/2024 19:13

I’ve bought a beautiful 100% wool burgundy coat from Whistles as they had 20% off new in items. Was £325 before discount.

ParrotPirouette · 01/09/2024 19:15

I had a day out yesterday. Train ticket, cinema ticket. I went to an Indian cafe for lunch then bought a ‘too good to go’ surprise bag for dinner. I bought 2 autumn tops and a cardigan in Yours for £65.
Some groceries, birthday cards, a salted caramel frappe, a manga art kit in a charity shop for a birthday present. Expensive day 😃

bows101 · 01/09/2024 19:18

Last day out of the summer holidays with my kids. £50 on nothing basically 🤷🏼‍♀️

What have you brought today?
Notellinganyone · 01/09/2024 19:18

@Oldraver - I didn’t know these existed! I’ve just bought one too.

Werweisswohin · 01/09/2024 19:20

Brought?
Do you mean bought?
If so then some food, not much at all.

I know right the first at least 11 people who thought they needed to point it out have already told me.
🥱

Why are you responding?

GnomeDePlume · 01/09/2024 21:06

Yesterday, 6 bags of compost.

Today, £250 on decking - to make a work bench and staging to go in my new polytunnel.

Dont let anyone tell you an allotment will save you money!

SlivedAvocado · 02/09/2024 10:04

Yesterday

1 x bag of dog food
1 x family bottle of shower gel
1 x bag of carrots
1x fresh chives
1 x chicken stock cubes

At the pub - 1 lager shandy, 1 beer, 2 portions of twice cooked chips and aioli.

Living the high life.

😄gotta love MN and the desperate need people feel to point out anothers mistake!

Today, I have bought:

-essential oils from White Company (£25.50)
-Twister Air, a game from Amazon (£11.49)

I'm annoyed at myself for spotting these bargains on the bargain thread in the Christmas section, as I'm trying to save money, it's clearly not going so well as it's only 10:30!

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 02/09/2024 11:10

Choux · 01/09/2024 16:49

@HeySummerWhereAreYou you clearly don't live in London then. Loads are open on Sundays here.

My entire weekend spend is £27 on groceries. Am dieting and resisting temptation. It's nice hearing about other people's coffees, toasties and cakes with friends though.

@Choux

Obviously I don't live in London. I stated clearly enough that I live in a little Market Town. FFS.

Did you actually read my post properly, or did you read it properly but just decide to post your inane post anyway to have a little dig at me? 🙄

And can posters stop digging at biting at the OP for saying 'brought' instead of 'bought.' She KNOWS she put the 'wrong' word! She doesn't need telling over a dozen times. Hmm

fitflopqueen · 02/09/2024 11:11

Yesterday, mug of tea and a sausage butty to share with doggo whilst out for her walk - £6

MaxEye · 02/09/2024 11:22

I think it'd make a brilliant podcast to stop people outside shops and ask them what they're bought and why. Abbie Hollick used to have a segment on Woman's Hour doing something similar - just stopping people in the street and asking them "What brings you here today?" It was fascinating.

Today I've bought:
> New trainers
> New back gate latch
> New gym leggings
> Bag of salad
> New window box

It's only 11am 😩

Willoo · 02/09/2024 11:27

Air pods pro as the Beats I had been using are crap. Pre-ordered a PS game. New trainers for work.
