What have you brought today?

I love people watching when sat in coffee shops when out shopping and would love to stop people and ask what they've brought today and what's in their carrier bags. Unfortunately, people probably wouldn't take kindly to it.

So I am going to ask MN what have you brought today?

I haven't brought anything today - rare for me to be honest to manage a complete no spend day.

Yesterday I spent:

  • £8 on a coffee and cake with my friend and daughter.
  • £6 on a chippy tea.

Sorry to be pedantic but it's 'bought' not brought.
Bought as in to buy. Brought as in the bring.

I haven't purchased anything yet today. Probably will need to get some booze and dinner in a bit as the cupboard is bare. I had three coffee shop coffees in the last week which is pretty ridiculous but I do enjoy them 😊

Spurred on by your bravery in pointing out the "brought" error, I now feel compelled to point out that it's not "sat". The correct form of the verb is "sitting".

2 bags of odds and ends in Lidl £30
a toy duck for the dog who carried it around for half an hour then destroyed its stuffing and dropped in a dirty puddle (lying by fire with the carcass now) £4.99
Sunday lunch for 3 of us from holiday kitty £105

Happiestwhen · 01/09/2024 16:53

I bought my kids Christmas presents from Very (on PayPal credit 😆) and some clothes for them from Next. I've realised I will need to store them for ages now but I wanted to get ahead this year.

flapjackfun · 01/09/2024 16:53

Jelly babies, Diet Coke and a jumper. Only the Diet Coke is for me.

notacooldad · 01/09/2024 16:55

A jar of date syrup
Packet of milk powder
A packet of citric acid

Tesco sent me a £9 voucher if I spend £60, which expires today, so that was the only way I could be dragged kicking and screaming to any shop on a Sunday.

I bought a few essential groceries, milk, bread, soup, cappuccino on special offer, Robinsons lemon squash, fruit and yoghurt - and some boxes of cheapo Tulips on special offer to ease the pain

On the way out, the heavens opened and it was stair-rods all the way home.

GoldenPineapple15 · 01/09/2024 16:56

Potatoes, carrots , vanilla ice cream and a red pepper . Went out for lunch but Dh paid .

FirstTimeHomeowner · 01/09/2024 16:57

Ooooh I love these threads :)

£8 3x ice creams at the zoo for me, DM, and DS.

£15 in the gift shop for a gift for a birthday party DS is at this PM ~ drawing book, stickers, flamingo snowglobe

£30 Petrol and Irn Bru

Now sitting on the sofa perusing the Christmas Bargain threads... so far £4 on 2 kids books, £22 on Harry Potter related stocking fillers, about to pull the trigger on some adorable JL wrapping paper... not the cheapest day 😂

Passthecake30 · 01/09/2024 16:58

Nothing! Spendy day yesterday, about £260 on a trip to london with the kids yesterday.

AdviceNeeded2024 · 01/09/2024 16:58

Bottle of white wine, full fat Greek yogurt, tangerines and sausages. Yogurt and fruit to take to work for breakfast this week, sausages for tea later. All from Asda. How exciting!
Also bought some shampoo and conditioner online, I use a brand you can’t buy in shops.

I’d love to buy something more interesting but I’m skint at the minute!!

CongratsOnYourLilBump · 01/09/2024 16:58

Scrub daddy damp dusters? Can you tell me more 😁 are these any good and what do you use them for? I need something decent for cleaning my wooden blinds! I have a scrub daddy sponge which I love but too harsh for most surfaces!

Ratfinkstinkypink · 01/09/2024 17:01

Two packs of nappies, one for home because we're running low and one for school that I must remember to take with me to our settling session this week.

Badbadbunny · 01/09/2024 17:02

Today, all I've bought is a packet of seeds!

Yesterday, I bought nothing at all.

Shopping literally does nothing for me. I hate it.

Not remotely interested what other people are buying either. If I have to go to a shop, it's straight in, straight to the appropriate shelf, pay and straight out again.

Something about shops gives me the rage these days. I think it's all the dithering people that have no spatial awareness, closely followed by the disinterested staff. That's after the hassle and stress of trying to park after having avoided the bus lanes, speed humps, one way systems, traffic calming and potholes, then hefty car park charges, or alternatively the crap public transport "experience". Used to love shopping, but now I just can't be bothered.

Seagullproofoldbag · 01/09/2024 17:05

Special spendy trip to Plymuff. Across the river. Football boots, school shoes, socks and a wetsuit, all for DS2. We hate shopping, but trying things on was necessary.

Berlinlover · 01/09/2024 17:05

Brought? Is there a reason why I only see this on Mumsnet?

New school wellies for my son £18
Two coffees £9
Wilderness festival tickets £550
Heading out to a restaurant for dinner later

Wow that's fab, thanks. Wooden toys are great , I actually did buy some in the Very order too. I've spent about £500 on toys (on credit) and £200 on our tesco grocery order so it's been an expensive day! I actually bought a car vacuum too on Amazon , omg. Slippery slope lol

It's gone very 'cancel the cheque' on your thread! 🙄
