On Appen does anyone know, is there a deadline for submitting invoices? My auto generated amounts aren't showing for the surveys but I don't want to hold off for ages and delay payment for other stuff. Thanks!

chocciechocface · 03/02/2022 11:00

Can someone tell me what a windows live ID is? And where I get one? I do have a Microsoft account.

It's today. 4pm PST so midnight-ish here, I think? Quite often they add the surveys to the invoice after you've submitted, and if not you can always chase them afterwards.

If you go to the News and Updates section you can always find the submission deadlines there. Took me ages to find it but it's very useful now that I know where it is. Grin

I think the Windows Live ID is your Microsoft account/email? Mine is my Outlook email address.
justalittlebitextra · 03/02/2022 11:48

@peabrainer I've submitted mine this morning so I don't forget and just raised a ticket for the missing surveys - I've got some (N....k.m and N...g.n) but nothing for N..h....n this month at all.

chocciechocface · 03/02/2022 12:33

Thank you.

peabrainer · 03/02/2022 13:19

Thanks @YonderTweek @justalittlebitextra will submit mine now too

Terrible January for me, not even £100 which was a mix of Prolific, minimum of potatoes and the N’s in Appen.

My RL job has gone mad, so I’ve barely been able to do anything.
I’m going to try and get to grips this month with Rev so I can ditch the potatoes. It’s just so slow and barely worth time time.
Would like to get into Amur again, but I don’t think I returned the survey in time.

karmakemmie · 03/02/2022 17:58

Thanks for starting this thread and a shout out to Catatemyhomework for sending me the new link Grin

I have a question for those on Prolific. I have finally managed to get onto it and have been sent a few surveys that I could have applied for but I need a desktop. Annoyingly I don’t have one or a laptop. Has anyone who’s signed up have the same issue? Or am I alone in only using my iPad and iPhone for internet activities? Is it worth buying a cheap, refurbished desktop? 🤔

howfartospar · 03/02/2022 18:35

Newbie here - can someone explain what potatoes means please?

Catatemyhomework · 03/02/2022 18:41

@karmakemmie, you're welcome! 😊
If you want to try lots of the different sites listed here, it might be worth getting a computer as a lot of the projects are laptop/desktop only. You can get reasonably priced good reconditioned ones for a couple of hundred. I got my son one in lockdown reconditioned and its been very good. It will give you the incentive to earn that money back! 😉

It’s Crisp Thinking. An internet moderation platform.
WriterBee · 03/02/2022 19:47

Thanks @YonderTweek I'll try to remember that so I don't panic next month!

Catatemyhomework

Good idea Grin

@karmakemmie, I use a Chromebook which works a treat for all this type of work and they're very reasonable to buy new so I'd certainly recommend getting one if you can 👍

howfartospar · 03/02/2022 21:02

can someone post a link to where you join "potatoes" please?

I can't see it on their site.

Ps why "Potatoes"?

The link is in the OP. Potato = Crisp. (Play on words) Crisp keep an eye on Mumsnet to make sure we’re not discussing anything we’re not supposed to.
PorpoiseWithPurpose · 03/02/2022 21:20

Apologies, just realised link is not in OP.
It’s here:

However, you’ll have to join the waiting list and it’s notoriously long.

Fab. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into it Smile

Hi everyone!
I work full time, but have been looking to earn extra income to live more comfortably. Have read your posts and am interested, but have a few questions and would be really grateful if someone could help me for please?
Is it ok to work full time and do this on the side? If so, is it easy to sort that taxes yourself?
Which few in particular would you recommended starting off on? (I'm based in the UK if this makes a difference?)
Do you have to have specific skills/knowledge to be able to do this type of work?

Sorry to be that newbie that asks loads of questions! 🙈 thanks in advance and hope someone can help me!

rhij86 · 04/02/2022 12:20

For anyone who signed up to Tide, I've just received the £75 into my account! much quicker than the 6-8 weeks they estimated :)

Welcome @Kan9 ! :)

Is it ok to work full time and do this on the side? If so, is it easy to sort that taxes yourself?

Yes - I know a few/a lot of us are doing this - myself included. I haven't got to grips with the tax element myself yet, but my suggestion would be to keep really good records of everything you earn, and try and put aside a percentage of what you earn each month to cover the taxes rather than have to find it all at once.

Which few in particular would you recommended starting off on? (I'm based in the UK if this makes a difference?)

It depends how quickly you want to start getting cash in really. If you need a quick fix, the survey sites are best as you can usually cash out immediately/at a certain amount compared to sites like appen where you invoice and get paid monthly. The downside is the survey sites will be lower earners though.
Personally get yourself signed up to Appen, Telus and prolific asap, and browse the jobs they have on offer. Have a look at Crisp Thinking and take the qualification test if it interests you.

Do you have to have specific skills/knowledge to be able to do this type of work?

Not really!! The links above cover a wide range of skill sets and interests. Sites like Appen and Telus have a massive range of projects, so apply for everything that interests you and see what comes through.

Good luck and happy earning!

I'll look into those sites and take on board what you've said 😊
Hopefully I'll get somewhere! Thanks again!

Anyone on S*C** V2? I've just been invited to do the quiz and after failing so many lately I am wondering whether to spend my time reading all those pages of guidelines Hmm

AppleJane · 04/02/2022 13:27

@kan9 if you need money quick also have a look at matched betting. It's also tax free (and obviously legal else we wouldn't recommend it!)
