New thread. New year. New start.

Thanks for the thread @ruralwanderer Smile

I finished the year in style, Dec was my best month by far. It was bloody hard work though. Just waiting for my Dec invoice to be approved.
Not starting the year so well. Have no long term projects to work on and nothing in the pipeline. But I’m sure something will come along.

Good luck everyone!!

Happy New Year everyone!

Since starting in July last year I'm still waiting for the big opportunities. Maybe it will Appen this year and I'll get to peel some spuds Grin

My best success so far has been matched betting so I'd recommend that as a starting point for any newbies joining us this year, along with everyone's favourite, Prolific. Betting is tax free too so you don't need to declare that as income and worry about registering as self employed until you're more confident about your side hustles!

YonderTweek · 04/01/2022 08:15

Happy new year everyone! Smile And thanks for the new thread.

I have officially finished all of my projects and I desperately need to find something again. I have had a really good run since September but most projects finished on 31 December and I'm anticipating January to be quite quiet. I seem to recall this happening last year too, and work only picked up again in March. I hope it won't take that long this year...

I made just under £1200 in December again and I'm pleased about it as we have been spending a lot of money recently (not even on fun stuff Angry), so it definitely helps. I'm happy to have a little break though because my clicking hand is killing me at the moment and I don't want to end up with carpal tunnel. Grin

I hope this year brings us some dosh!

I haven’t been on the thread for a while. I left Potato and my main Appen job finished last April. I earned about £8000 in that tax year.

I have been concentrating on my day job since then. However I picked up a good Appen job in November so cleared $1000 in December and nearly $2000 for January. It will end soon though.

For the rest I have been chugging along with the N surveys on Appen, plusclickworker, Prolific etc getting around £100 a month.

I’ve also qualified for 3 Appen jobs quite recently only to be told the demographic is full. This seems to be getting more common.

superpinkgirl · 04/01/2022 09:52

Happy new year everyone. It has been very quiet for me recently but am hoping for something this month.

Redcrayons · 04/01/2022 10:12

Happy new year & happy new thread.

December was a bit of a wipe out, just made minimum on Potatoes, a couple of Ap surveys and although I had potentially some good refunds in Amur, I kept them for presents. My DS for a super expensive hoodie he loves for £0 so I suppose that’s a win.

I had a cold that wouldn’t budge over Xmas (not that, I tested a lot) so didn’t get chance to get going properly with Rev.

Here’s to 2022.

Catatemyhomework · 04/01/2022 10:27

Thank you for starting the new thread and happy new year everyone! 🎉
My main two appen projects finished on NY Eve unfortunately but I still plod along with Yn slowly! I did alright in December and should go some way to helping with the Christmas spending! I recommending applying for Yn on App as it is permanent. I am still quite slow and it is scary but I have guaranteed hours pretty much which is useful. Hoping for a new Malta project to come my way! 😉

Maybepossibly22 · 04/01/2022 11:22

Placemarking!

Have applied for Y on app but no response yet. Just been approved today for N*e so hopefully that will bring a few pennies in. Glad to have something approved at least!

rhij86 · 04/01/2022 11:45

Morning all, and thanks for the new thread.
Haven't been on the last few but I have been plodding away, painfully slowly, in the background.

I'm on a couple of App projects but the work seems to come in fits and starts and unless you jump on immediately the work has usually finished by the time you look. Still plodding away with potato.

Have applied for a few new (new to me anyway) projects on app this morning but no idea how long they've been there, so could be all full.

Desperate to find something consistent (looking at you App) that doesn't feel like pulling teeth (looking at you potato) this year so that I can really tackle my finances.

I've been looking in to doing print on demand after seeing a few videos about it on tiktok. Does anyone do this? Is it worth the time?

ruralwanderer · 04/01/2022 13:07

@YonderTweek and @Wolf1970 those are some great totals, well done!

December wasn't my best month although I had lots of Amur-based Christmas presents which was great. I also cleared over £50 on Potato in about 2 days of surges so need to put more effort into that this year.

Spent 2 hours 18 minutes this morning on a Prolific task which should have only taken 1.5 hours (website kept glitching so I had to restart a few times). It was interesting but only £8 which is annoying. There's another part and the opportunity to qualify for a bonus so as long as I get all funds possible from it, it may redeem itself. Otherwise I just annoyed the kids and dogs for no good reason...

Just submitted my Ap invoice - fingers crossed it gets approved (no reason it shouldn't)

On another note, does anyone use/do Top Cashback? I order the oh's fitness drinks last night, and it came up with I could get £16 something cashback?! Have I been missing a trick? Should I be using this??

ruralwanderer · 04/01/2022 18:32

Top cashback is amazing!! Definitely use it, I've saved over £500 using it over the last 10 years, mainly on insurance products.

AnotherOne4 · 04/01/2022 18:49

@ruralwanderer I'm on it Smile Can't believe I've not been using it before now.

That pop up is 'Complete Savings' they charge about £15 a month if you don't claim any cashback, so it is risky. It pops up when I do my Asda online order, also always offering about £16, so I joined but couldn't claim as I had to submit an invoice which included my full name. Asda invoices only have email address & delivery address, I wasted time emailing them but no response so cancelled my membership.
Bbub · 04/01/2022 21:02

Hi All

I was on the thread a few years ago and dabbled in a few things but nothing stuck.

I'm looking into Lionbridge at the moment and was wondering what kind of jobs you've applied for on there?

The jobs I looked at all seem to have specific criteria such as qualifications or experience (that I don't meet!).

Buster27 · 04/01/2022 21:21

Happy New Year everyone! I had a very good December (a bit over £1600), but my good App project seems to have come to an end so I will probably need to put some more effort in this month Smile

Thanks for the new thread @ruralwanderer

@Maybepossibly22 I miss N**e! I moaned about it being boring but it was a nice, easy, consistent earner! Enjoy Smile
