MLM Bot Watch 69 - the gift that keeps on giving all year round!

Welcome to place where we dive into the murky depths of Multilevel Marketing (MLM), Network Marketing, Direct Sales, Social Selling (or whatever you want to call those dodgy product-based pyramid schemes) and dredge up the dirty lies bots tell to rope in their victims. (Clue: MLM is never “... an amaaaaaaayyyyyzzzing opportunity that I think you’d be great at, hun!”)

This is where we discuss certain fibbing hun bots who pretend to be entrepreneurs (they’re not, they’re just playing shop) who brag on social media about unlimited wealth, multiple six figure salaries, residual income, willable businesses, or just making a couple of hundred quid in those nooks and crannies of time. The truth is that most people who get roped into these schemes on the back of false promises lose money and often get into debt.

We’re onto bots who are held up by their particular MLM as running outstandingly successful businesses even though they’re bankrupt or are directors of insolvent companies. We know about bots who bought their position high up the pyramid, and those who con people with mindset coaching programmes. We also keep an eye on the plain old Billy Bullshitters who claim to be making six figures and describe themselves as “debt free” even though their accounts on Companies House show a very different story.

Will 2022 be the year of reckoning for MLMs and fibbing bots? Let’s hope so. Grin

Got it! Thanks x

@SSDGM

Yawn has been added to yet another VIP group to work on FLP and their “continued success in the UK”. So a downward trajectory is success, is it?
I was trying to work out why she'd be invited to a VIP group when she clearly isn't up there with the ones getting the cheques and my theory is that maybe she's good at getting the sign-ups (although they don't stay or succeed).

FL maybe like her for her ability to scam people into signing up and want her to share her techniques for that but then, where she falls foul, is holding on to them.

I think this reflected in the way that her fb and Insta feed is like groundhog day for people like us who have been watching her for years. The same things keep coming up, inconsistencies appear in stories etc ....all things that wouldn't be spotted by bots who don't stick around for long enough to see. But we do.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 20/01/2022 20:09

The 'VIP' group Yawn has been added into is a flexible concept that FLP can tailor to suit.
By and large, it offers her not much except for access to some 'exclusive' bot groups in social media, and the opportunity to pose inside a roped off area at the increasingly dreary FLP U.K. shindigs.
She has been up there before and slid down the pole again and again. These days she only qualifies for a sad yoga mat CB cheque if Uber hasn't got any other downlines through which to funnel the purchases and CCs she needs to qualify for her cheque (said purchases account for a large proportion of 'discounted' FLP products being desperately flogged on eBay and FB Marketplace).
It is a sop that provides her with an opportunity for a ridiculous post about 'where else would you get this sort of recognition' and nothing else. About as meaningful as walking across a stage wearing a cheap nylon sash and describing it as the 'highlight of your life'.

Spongebobette · 20/01/2022 20:28

Oh gosh yes those Success Days with women walking across a stage with a nasty sash
The first time I saw that it seemed so…. American and not at all British
Same with the ‘rally’ with all the ra ra ra - just not something I’d ever seen in the UK

Oh and the shameless showing off of wealth and possessions - I was brought up to think that sort of behaviour very distasteful

Itsnotover · 20/01/2022 21:06

Yawn manages to get Louis Vuitton into most of her 'motivational' pictures.

Spongebobette · 20/01/2022 21:09

Yes exactly
My granny would have called that dreadfully common

Itsnotover · 20/01/2022 21:12

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers

I think Yawn could have been employable in sales or corporate bollocks a few years ago but now she's beyond it. Her grip on reality is too shaky.

I agree. She could have done well in sales without a doubt. Multi level marketing is a cult.

BotOff · 20/01/2022 22:32

That photo of Yawn is hilarious! Even the dog’s face looks like it’s thinking wtf 😂😂

BSintolerant · 21/01/2022 08:38

The dog looks mightily unimpressed. If only he could talk! Grin

Below has come in from Iron Bot - anyone care to comment?

Mini morning rant …. Grab a brew
Why do admin on groups get so uppity about you recommending something you actually use or do in reply to a specific question from a member, but only if you happen to have a business attached to it too,
if you recommend something that’s from a generic high profit high street store or an random online company, that’s ok tho…
or if you God forbid suggest a tired busy mum could work from home in her own time - you’ll be hung drawn and quartered for such cheek - but all the suggestions that poor Martha goes to sell her soul in a supermarket at night when her kids are in bed for minimum wage, or drags her tired ass to an admin job 4 hours a week at the weekend when she has childcare - that’s ok - encouraged in fact,
Have a word with yourselves if this your attitude….
You are not the protector of the people - looking after and serving others is GIVING them information and allowing them as adults to MAKE UP THEIR OWN MINDS. It’s not about silencing people who are trying to help in REPLY to being asked specifically what you’d recommend to help their situation.
Ok you don’t want a page full of adverts / that’s cool
But if someone is asking for help or ideas specifically - why would you silence another member trying to help them?
It’s 2022—- people don’t HAVE to buy a product from a big store, people DO work on line, and this is a great platform to help people.
That’s all ☕️
P.s. it’s ok to get paid to recommend something you actually use and love - makes you WISE in my book cause you’d be recommending it anyway.

Spongebobette · 21/01/2022 09:56

‘Uppity’ is an interesting word choice

LoopyGremlin · 21/01/2022 10:36

Hmmmm….maybe people encourage jobs because you get paid for the hours you put in, you get paid holidays, you are entitled to sick pay and maternity benefits, you accrue a pension. I’d say they were the wise ones.

fromdownwest · 21/01/2022 10:48

So nice to see doors closed at every turn these predators take, historically they would have slid in and duped a few people.

Now, they are stopped at the door.

That messages sounds so desperate!

VolcanicEruption · 21/01/2022 11:25

Hate it when someone posts an MLM on local fb groups as my twitching hands 🙌 have to be slapped down as I don’t want the pitchfork brigade at my door.
As stated up thread most real employers pay various benefits. Retired now on various works pensions. When I worked I had free healthcare from one employer , flexible hours, holiday, sick and maternity pay. Bonuses, money off products & services . Paid Office parties .I didn’t need to wear a sash or go whooping at venues.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 21/01/2022 12:41

So Yawn claims she's still losing weight ...yeah right Hmm

Wouldn't you just love to add up all the pounds that she claims she's lost over the years. Surely she must have lost her entire bodyweight at least twice over if you believed her posts. Grin ....which of course raises the question of why she's doing it again.

No wonder she's deleted her old posts.

Spongebobette · 21/01/2022 13:06

How many times do you have to reset/ re-educate your eating habits before you have to admit you might be a slow learner 🤣

Itsnotover · 21/01/2022 13:39

Why don't people realise though that if something seems too good to be true, it is? Even though I didn't realise how MLM really worked until I discovered the truth, courtesy of Elliebeau and threads like this, I did realise that there must be a catch and therefore didn't touch it with a barge-pole.

swampytiggaa · 21/01/2022 14:01

Don’t see why bots get shitty about working in a supermarket… I get well above minimum wage plus 15% discount and uniform provided. I get a subsidised canteen decent pension and got a £10 voucher at Christmas. I work with genuinely lovely people get paid for every minute I work and when I clock out I leave it all behind me.

Best job I’ve ever had and I don’t have to hassle friends and family to earn a decent wage 😊

Spongebobette · 21/01/2022 14:15

I hate the way bots sneer at proper jobs

Spongebobette · 21/01/2022 14:33

@Itsnotover great point - it doesn’t pass the smell test does it
I knew there was something too good to be true when my friend suddenly started posting about sacking the boss and retiring in 3-5 years etc - and all I could see was she was selling a few aloe Vera based products
that’s what led me to do some digging and I found these threads

VolcanicEruption · 21/01/2022 14:58

Cannot remember what originally brought me to these threads. It might have been when my CV was online and I had a couple of emails about FL. DYOR is the name of the game. They weren’t the only dodgy emails either.

BSintolerant · 21/01/2022 15:21

Is your friend enjoying her retirement Sponge? Grin

OP posts:
Spongebobette · 21/01/2022 16:06

Well she seems to have retired from Forever Living, that’s for sure!!
Never actually sacked the boss in her real JOB thank goodness

MarchXX · 21/01/2022 16:18

@forgotmyusername1 I think she is being wilfully ignorant and knows very well why admins have stamped down hard on the exploitative MLM schemes.

She only recommends her MLM company's products because she gets a kick-back from selling them. She will be happy to exploit sick people and make illegal medical claims to sell useless gloop/pills.

When normal people recommend a product from a high street store, its because they are genuinely happy with the product. That's the difference. I wonder whether anyone will point this out to her?

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 21/01/2022 16:54

BBL has shared her Juice Plus goal board which she made 7 years ago. I particularly like the wedding vowels.
