Karcheer That’s how I feel. I’ve so far used £150 of my own money and have made about £40 so far, which isn’t bad in 2 days but obviously I am £150 lighter in my bank account and coming up to xmas that’s not great.

I wish I’d heard about MB earlier and saved for a couple of months before starting. Kinda feels like I’m down at the moment!

Made a mistake this morning, went to place a free bet but somehow managed to use money from the account instead Sad so I’m now £10 down! I guess I can use the free bet later when I get home but either way, I’ll still be £10 down Sad

I think I’m going to stick to low odds and making money slower so I don’t have to use anymore than £150 liability in Betfair at the moment. Even making £10 a day is better than nothing! That’s still £200 a month which is not to be sniffed at!

I think going in at bigger odds / liability is fine if you have saved up before starting MB, or if you’re just feeling particularly flush and don’t mind using your own money for a while, and normally I wouldn’t mind, but it’s a month before Xmas and my car is due an mot and service in Jan too so I’m trying to be good!

Canadianviews · 22/11/2017 11:18

Can I just ask also how long it took people roughly to get through the initial sign up offers at bookmakers?

Goldenpombear · 22/11/2017 11:19

@candianviews
You can still lay the bet you placed with your own money to minimise losses rather than leaving it to chance

Canadianviews · 22/11/2017 11:22

Thanks Golden,

I did lay the bet anyway to like you say, minimise loss as much as possible! Just feel like an idiot. Don’t feel I’m grasping all of this as quickly as others! Hoping I’ll get my head around it all soon!

Karcheer · 22/11/2017 11:23

Golden yes thats pretty much what I did yesterday and won .13p as I hadn't realised my £20 free bet with Coral had expired.

Goldenpombear · 22/11/2017 11:24

You’ll be fine :) took me ages to put bets on to start with but it does get much quickerSmile

noodleaddict · 22/11/2017 11:26

I haven't got through all the welcome offers yet and am about 4 weeks in, had a couple of reloads and haven't been doing it every day.

Welshmaenad · 22/11/2017 11:44

I've made £62 + £70 cashback in just a couple of days! I was lucky to have some spare cash to be able to sling £350 into betfair to go for some bigger odds, which was TERRIFYING but seems to e paying off!

FreckledLeopard · 22/11/2017 12:15

I started matched betting in June and still haven't done all the sign up offers yet. I've done a fair few, but also try and do re-loads and other offers I find out about via OddsMonkey. Some bookies are brilliant for offers (Coral, Bet365, SkyBet, William Hill (for their price boosts)) and others I never hear from.

Canadianviews · 22/11/2017 12:34

Freckled, how much would you say you’ve made so far? (If you dont mind me asking)

Karcheer · 22/11/2017 13:05

So, The money went into the Bookmaker Acc, which is fine, so Ive transferred that back to my bank Acc (which'll take 3-5 days). So I'll now have to wait until Ive got some money back in my bank acc before I can do anything more.

I'll be back :)

FreckledLeopard · 22/11/2017 15:32

I've made around £2000. But that's with a couple of months off here and there and not spending that much time doing it. You can certainly make more if you have more time to spare.

MissFitton · 22/11/2017 18:38

I've usually got about £7-800 in exchanges however this week everything seems to have won at the bookies and I'm now down to £40. Which is annoying. I've read that an exchange bank of £2-3k means you can do every offer you want without having to think about it. As I'm aiming lower I want to get a bank of about 1k going.

I've been doing this for about seven months, very part time, and I'm currently £1800 up.

AAARRGGGGGHHHH.... Something's just gone horribly wrong for me on Betfair Sad

I was placing a £30 bet in order to get a free bet - did all the usual steps i.e. choosing a match, using the calculator - but Betfair said the bet wasn't matched (you get a message in red) so I cancelled it to double check my calculations. The odds changed so I tried again with the new calculations and it came up red as unmatched again. It was only when I tried for a 3rd time that I noticed my balance in Betfair had gone down by £90 - the two 'unmatched' bets had actually gone through...!!

So the first one was correct but the 2nd one definitely wasn't. I contacted Betfair help to try and get the 2nd one cancelled but the help person said because it's an Exchange bet they can't cancel it.

NIGHTMARE... My Betfair balance has been wiped out and I'm really not sure what's going to happen - presumably I'll have lost money along the way on this one Sad

Very sad because this is the first thing that's gone wrong! Feel a bit sick at losing money....

The bets are on a match that's taking place tomorrow so I'll have to wait to see how it plays out, but am not holding out any hope.

mamahanji · 22/11/2017 21:41

Dotty

That happened to me! It was less money but ugh it was horrible. I spent 2 days feeling sick with nerves. It worked in my favour though because the betfair bet won. Still that profit was not worth that feeling of dread and risk!

MissFitton · 22/11/2017 21:49

Dotty could you do back bets for your extra lay bets and reduce your losses? You never know you could do an extra couple of customer sign ups with them!

OP posts:
DottyDotAgain · 22/11/2017 22:00

Miss Fitton - how would I do that? I've never done it that way around? Sorry - can you do me a quick idiot's guide?!

MissFitton · 23/11/2017 08:44

I’m not sure really! I’m assuming you could just put a back bet on the same game with another bookie. The lay bets and liability might not match exactly but you might only lose a little rather than a lot!

This is an annoying quirk of betfair I've found (the hard way!) - you need to check the left hand side of the screen which shows you your pluses and minus for each outcome - BF updates that but not the matched/unmatched. Or refresh the page...

Ok so how much is the extra lay for, and what odds? If you cover the amount you layed your loss shouldn't be too much.

You CAN cash out an exchange bet - the top of the screen shows you how much profit/loss you'll make by cashing out. All that happens when you cash out an exchange bet is you place a back bet on the same outcome. Can you post a screen shot?

Karcheer · 23/11/2017 13:04

Hello all,

So I should be back as I'm going to allocate another £70, from my own money, so that'll be £100 in total. But my laptop has had a hardware fault I think. It's trying to sort itself out, but might mean a trip to Apple. Urghhhh whys nothing easy?
Plus I want to see what happened to my coral bet, but I can't log in to find out for some reason.
I should t play with the computers or the internet!

FreckledLeopard · 23/11/2017 13:26

Second gubbing of my MB career - Ladbrokes, which is annoying but not the end of the world, although their price boosts were good so that's a bit of a shame. Hey ho. Onwards and upwards.

BeachballBelly · 23/11/2017 13:31

Hey everyone! I’m looking to start MB while I’m on maternity leave for a little extra cash but want to set up a new bank account before I start to keep everything totally separate.
For those of you who did this, did you find a particularly good one to go for? I had a look on MSE but as I don’t want to switch or pay any DD from this account I’m kind of struggling with which one to go for. Thanks! Smile

Canadianviews · 23/11/2017 13:41

Does anyone that’s signed up to sites via Quidco know how long roughly it takes to get the cashback? I’ve signed up to s couple of sites now through it, placed the bets etc but still not cashback showing in my Quidco account?

DottyDotAgain · 23/11/2017 16:22

Thanks Miss Fitton and Titchy! Will take a look at it when I'm home from work - irritatingly, can't access Betfair at work...! Shock Grin

Karcheer · 23/11/2017 17:51

Evening,

Managed to get into my Coral acc and I'd won their last night so transferred that little winning to my bank.
this was my initial bet which I'd mucked up as the £20 free bet had expired, so pretty happy to have made a couple of pounds anyway.

So all in all I'm £15 after a couple of days , pretty happy with that.

Now I need to get a computer working. Might risk using my iPad tonight if I can't fix it :/
