Argh I meant to do this welsh

Anyway I've finally popped my MB cherry!
I think I've already messed up a bit as I think my free bets with Coral had already expired, but worse case I'll be 0.16 up (I hope). Also did £10 for £30 new joiner at betfred, so including money with betfair ive spent £30 so far.
First football match is tonight at 7:45!

Canadianviews · 21/11/2017 17:55

Is that the Barnsley/ Cardiff match Kar? If so ive just put my Betfred £30 free bets on that too....

And messed it up SadAngry I somehow clicked two lay options and then when o went to cancel one I cancelled the wrong one Sad I’d already put my back bet on on Betfred too so didn’t really want to back out Sad

I’m terrible at this!

Karcheer · 21/11/2017 18:03

No, its Sheffield united vs Fulham.
I have absolutely no idea if I've done it right TBH!

Did just by my dog food via quidco to get my extra £2:50 off, so hoping that'll negate any errors on this :/

mamahanji · 21/11/2017 18:11

Karcheer

Did you use the calculator to tell you how much to lay? If you go into the bookies you placed the bet with, it will say the name of the team you are choosing to back. It will say ‘Sheffield 3.0’ or something like that and then the amount you bet, and then go on betfair and it should say ‘lay Sheffield’

So I’ve placed a bet of £15 on Sunderland to win with William Hill so it’s 3x£5 free bets. But it says Sunderland @ 5 meaning Sunderland to win with odds of 5.0. Then my betfair says lay Sunderland 5.7.

Sorry if that doesn’t make sense! But it should always say the same team just with the world lay in front of it on the exchange.

Does that make sense?

mama I think I've done it right, I watched the videos and reread all the tutorials again.

Quite excited to see what happens after the match finishes, it'll be the longest 90mins ever! Although I know I have to wait 48hours for my free bet.
Do you know how long you have them as I doubt I'll be able to do any MB till Tuesday next week as s very busy weekend ahead.

mamahanji · 21/11/2017 18:26

They can come through within 24 hours and usually are use within 7 days, if you’re able to do it around Friday/Saturday morning the most football is on the weekend. But they are usually 7 days so if it comes in tomorrow then you’ll be fine for next Tuesday.

I have downloaded the app called FlashScore, and I just select the matches I have bets on and it gives me notifications for all goals and times. It’s very handy when you have a few bets on or accumulators.

Canadianviews · 21/11/2017 18:35

With Quidco, do you get the cash back simply from signing up/ registering on the sites or do ou actually have to place bets on them to trigger the cash back?

Karcheer · 21/11/2017 18:41

Just done my betfair verification, I hope it's ok, I just took a photo of my online bank statement. As I don't have any printouts of anything. Hope that doesn't muck anything up.

Welshmaenad · 21/11/2017 19:07

@Canadianviews you have to deposit and wager the required amount - each betting site has different requirements to get the cash back, but it's usually fairly minimal, in line with the amount t you need to wager to get the free bets.

Canadianviews · 21/11/2017 19:18

Thanks Welsh, I just saw in the T&Cs it was £10 so have just placed a £10 bet. Does this mean if I get the £30 cashback from Quidco that I won’t get the £50 free bets from Ladbrokes?

Welshmaenad · 21/11/2017 19:38

I did ladbrokes, got the £50 bet and had the cash back fracked too Smile

Welshmaenad · 21/11/2017 19:39

I would say to click through quidco and just check the free bet offer is prominent on the landing page of the bookies website after doing so, before signing up. Just in case! But I've done bookie and bingo sites via quidco before me always got the free bets/extra funds offers.

stayathomegardener · 21/11/2017 19:59

Been thinking of doing this for ages so this thread will be a great motivator.
I have a new bank account and £300 to start off.

Next stop Oddsmonkey tomorrow I think.

Karcheer · 21/11/2017 20:27

Apparently they need copies of originals. Im not entirely sure how to do this.
Will have to have a think about this tomorrow.

Canadianviews · 21/11/2017 20:42

Thank you Welsh, that’s really good to know Smile

Oh no Karcheer, I haven’t been asked for anything yet but will probably be in a similar position to you when they do. Do they mean they want a scanned copy sent to them? Or a hard copy through the post?! Not sure I’d be particularly happy about doing the latter tbh.

Karcheer · 21/11/2017 20:47

I think a scanned copy saved as a JPEG. Will have to go to the bank and print out a copy and then try and scan it I think, will have to see if I can get our scanner to work. Urgh thought it would be the MB that would be complicated! Not the creating an account bit.

Welshmaenad · 21/11/2017 20:55

Karcheer I use an app called Tinyscan that turns photos of documents into pdfs - worth a try?

Karcheer · 21/11/2017 21:54

Yah I have won 13p

MissFitton · 22/11/2017 06:46

karcheer I’ve always sent photos of original copies for ID and it’s been ok.* The trouble is the vast majority of my stuff is now paperless so it’s a case of finding something they’ll accept they don’t like John Lewis delivery notes as proof of address—*
I have a file on my laptop with photos of bank cards (with most of the numbers obscured for security), driving license, credit card bill etc then I have it all to hand when the inevitable request comes through.**

Yep, bold fail 🤔😁

Karcheer · 22/11/2017 07:39

I'm going to get the ID stuff all sorted today. It should be too tricky although may involve a quick trip to the bank.
On the plus side I did get confirmation of my free betfred money :)

Karcheer · 22/11/2017 10:10

Umm, So I'm looking to spend my £30 free bet. Following the guide and altering My Odds to 5 I could only find bets where my liability at Betfair were £300+! TBH I'm ok to do this when its money I've accumulated in here but I haven't got that sort of money to sit in Betfair from my own money. These would give me a max profit of £27.
So I've found a bet with a liability of £23 (which I have sitting in Betfair) giving my a profit of £16.04 which isn't brilliant, but I'm much happier having less liability and less profit, at this stage...

But It got me thinking. How much cash does everyone have sitting with the bookmakers/Exchanges?

FreckledLeopard · 22/11/2017 10:39

I normally have around £800 - £1000 at Betfair and a couple of hundred in Smarkets. I tend to withdraw winnings from bookies rather than keeping it in there, unless I know that there'll be an event coming up shortly which I'll be placing bets on.

noodleaddict · 22/11/2017 10:56

I am now really regretting not going through cashback sites as I've missed out on some free money! Oh well.

I've got just under £300 in betfair and haven't signed up to smarkets yet but I'm only just starting out really. I also withdraw winnings from bookies but haven't withdrawn anything from betfair.

Karcheer · 22/11/2017 11:14

Ok, So I've put my free bet on. I'm pretty stuck now until after this game as I've only a few p in Betfair. Once I get paid I'll transfer a little more in.
I'm hoping its the betfair side that wins as that'll mean I can continue, but what will be will be :)
