Could you just highlight on your bank statements your utility bills if you pay by dd? this is what I did

Hawaiiturtle101 · 23/11/2015 14:19

I didn't see my full year mortgage account. .I sent an official mortgage summary from my bank rather than pay £15 for my mortgage report. It's the way they expect you to get hold of everything so quickly. I only sent photocopies too no original documents incase they were lost.

Still no answer for me, will be 23weeks on Friday.

Hi ladies,

Can I please have some advice? I have no clue how all this works but really want to help my friend.

My friend has a 1 year old DS, she lived with his Dad for a year before her DS came along. Both were on low incomes but didn't claim anything. When my friend was 7 months pregnant something horrible happened forcing her to leave her partner. He stayed in the flat & she moved in with her mum & step dad. She's still their due to being on a low income & struggling to find a place she can afford. She claims child tax & working tax credits.

She has had a letter from Concentrix saying they have linked her to someone. They want her to send bank statements & bills. The bills are all in her DM's name. Can she send those in? She is on her Mum's council tax & electoral roll etc but how does she prove this?

There is a problem as she owes her horrible ex some money because of the car they shared. She transfers £100 a month to him from her bank account. Will this land her in trouble? She said there's been occasions where she has struggled with paying her Mum some rent or paying for her DS's nursery fees & her ex has begrudgingly put £30 or £40 in her account to tide her over, but that's the only kind of maintenance she gets. Should she send a letter with her bank statements explaining why they have transferred money to each other? She is terrified she'll lose her tax credits but didn't think she was doing anything wrong in paying her ex the money she owed it via the bank?

Any advice as to what she should do would be appreciated.

JBEM4 · 24/11/2015 20:11

Hi Villagefete - if she's on the council tax and electoral role at her parents address she needs a copy of the council tax bill and she can explain the payments in and out of her account from her ex on her covering letter. I obviously can't say what they'll do (still waiting for my decision) but maintenance or payments for children aren't taken in to account when awarding tax credits. She just needs to be as honest as possible.

Sassie2633 · 24/11/2015 20:11

Village fete

Hi am in the same predicament I pay into my ex's account occasionally for things we bought I went to welfare rights and he didn't seem to think is was a issue as it isn't income but the opposite I don't know about the 30-40 going in though but what I've read they don't take money for a child into consideration as its for the child but I could be wrong on that xxx

forest01 · 24/11/2015 20:53

Money going out of your account is not what they are looking for, it's money going in. Explain that the money going in is child maintenance as this is allowed. Don't mention money going out. No need to. if you live with your parents you need proof, just ring the companies up and request statements which show your name, that's all they want x

VillageFete · 24/11/2015 21:21

Thank you ladies.

Well I spoke to my friend before and she said she rang the company who sent her the letter and asked them why they had sent it or who was she supposed to be linked to. Turns out she is linked to her brother?? He hasn't lived at her mum's for 2 years but i'm assuming he must still have something in his mum's address? She explained she couldn't send mortgage papers/utility bills as they aren't in her name, the lady on the phone said that was ok?

She is planning to not mention the money going in/out of her account to/from her ex as it's not him she is linked with. Perhaps she should though?

Hawaiiturtle101 · 24/11/2015 22:31

I have regular payment in for the children and I didn't mention it deliberately as my letter didn't ask me to explain incoming or outgoings on my bank account. I'm playing the game and giving them exactly what they wanted..nothing more or less. I've not phoned and don't intend too until I hear a negative response from them. None of my bills prove anyone else is linked to me house as in my name only. I have payment into my account from my clients as I'm self employed. .I'm not explaining those either as they didn't ask for any explanation in their letter.

Morgani97 · 25/11/2015 07:32

You do right Hawaiiturtle if you send anything they didn't ask for it just confuses them. Still not sure how bank statements can prove you're single lol. They haven't got a clue what they're doing half the time.
A1b any news yet, did you go see your mp? I can't remember without going through all the posts x

JBEM4 · 25/11/2015 09:27

Hawaii I wish I was as patient as you - I feel like I'm harassing them with calls every other day. I just can't handle not knowing what's going to happen 😕 On that note I'm off to chase them up 😩

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 25/11/2015 09:43

LONG UPDATE! Morgani97 no still nothing. I called them last Tuesday after my Enforcement officer ordeal, was very distressed on the phone & was told that a manager authorised for it to be looked at that day, told please call back tomorrow for update. Called back Wednesday hasn't been looked at! Told me I shouldn't have been told that & it's just been escalated call back tomorrow. So called back Wednesday, still not been looked at! Bearing in mind it was 3weeks ago I was first told it was with the mandatory reconsideration team being looked at! So my aunt made a general call to HMRC for some advice & she told me to phone tax credits & ask for support team. It was really hard to get them to put me through, she didn't want to until I ended up in tears again! Explained my situation and she said 22weeks is really too long & just 8 weeks for mandatory really shouldn't be the case as they say 6weeks. She put a call through to Concentrix for me and wanted to stay on the line but they cut her off. Basically explained my whole situation again so the adviser got a supervisor on the phone. He said I shouldn't have been told that it would be looked at Tuesday but told him my situation and he said he'd email mandatory & tell them it needs to be looked at following morning. He said when he got in at 11 if it hadn't been done or wasn't being done then he'd tell them it needed to be, said he'd call me back after he'd checked in the morning. Next morning he called me and backtracked on everything he said and basically it hadn't been looked at and didn't know when it would be but he'd call me before he left that evening with an update whether it was done or not as he personally wanted to keep eye on it, haven't heard from him since! Lady from HMRC called me following day for update, I told her what was said/done and she sent a referral of her own to Concentrix as she said they'd been very unfair. She put another call through for me and managed to stay on phone and listen and I spoke to adviser, he said still not looked at but he call me back at 5 with an update as that's when mandatory go home. He called me and said decision will be made Monday as they're just waiting for my renewal from tax credits. Anyway called back yesterday and surprise surprise still not done even though told it would be done previous day, I just couldn't call Monday due to my son having dental surgery. He said still waiting for renewal but then looked again and said it was there and that he'd personally take it down to mandatory so it can be finalised. He said I should get letter Friday/Saturday or Monday latest!! Basically they don't have a clue!! Lady from HMRC was supposed to be calling me back Monday too as she was keeping an eye on it, haven't heard from her either.

JBEM4 · 25/11/2015 09:50

And there's no update! They sent me a letter asking me to write to them with the date I moved my mobile business to a shop based business when I had already given them the information on the phone. The guy I spoke to today said they don't even need that information BUT as I mentioned that I consulted a solicitor who recommended mediation they wanted evidence. Problem being I had a free 30 mins session with a solicitor who advised me not to do anything rash (I went the week after I found out about the affair) and advised we attend an independent mediation service where we agreed financial matters and contact but again nothing in writing (me and my ex are strangely civil and decent) .... I've advised concentrix of this and he said he's noted this and will send back to the decision maker who will hopefully make a decision in the next few days and to try calling back at the beginning of next week arghhhhhh!

JBEM4 · 25/11/2015 09:55

Oh A1b2 - I really don't know what to say to you. I feel silly moaning when I still have payments (for the moment at least) .... I have everything crossed that they find in your favour and they backdate all the payments before Xmas ... If they do make sure you get yourself a little something - you deserve it! X

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 25/11/2015 10:13

JBEM4 don't be silly, we're all in the same boat. I've given them everything they've asked for & ive waited & waited! Will be 5months on Friday without a payment. It's my daughters birthday Friday & I have an enforcement officer coming back Monday for the unpaid council tax I fell behind on. He wants £591 or he's taking the items he's listed when he came 3weeks ago. I'm really deep in it now, didn't ever imagine it would take this long.

JBEM4 · 25/11/2015 10:20

I hope you don't mind me giving advice but give stepchange a call - they're brilliant with things like this and may be able to help/advise you x

Morgani97 · 25/11/2015 11:15

A1b,if they're saying you should get a letter Friday/Saturday/Monday surely their decision will be made before that. Can you not give them another call or get your mp to call them as they have a hotline to HMRC. Good luck chick fingers crossed for you x

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 25/11/2015 12:27

Thing is they told me a decision would be made last Tuesday then last Thursday then this Monday & by yesterday it still hadn't so I don't have any belief that I'll have a letter by Monday, especially as the last one they sent me saying I needed to do mandatory took 9days to get here!

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 25/11/2015 15:37

So just had a call from lady at HMRC and she's told me there's a note on my file saying that Concentrix have made a decision & that they need to speak to me but she doesn't know why. She's told me to call them when I'm back home. I'm feeling like its bad news.

Cazzamoody · 25/11/2015 18:39

I hope it's good news 👍

JBEM4 · 25/11/2015 18:58

Any news A1b2?? 😁

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 25/11/2015 19:12

Not good news. They want more info. I'm literally done with the whole thing. I can't go on like this.

Morgani97 · 25/11/2015 19:53

A1b,firstly did you send everything they asked for? Secondly please go to see your local mp,this has gone in far too long. Please don't get disheartened chick, you've come too far to give up x

Croy1985 · 25/11/2015 19:54

A1b2 what else could they want? Blood. This is stupid, I feel like we went through the first 15 weeks together then mine was sorted out but they are keeping u waiting. Is there no help the council can make to see u through

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 25/11/2015 19:56

Yes now they're requesting bills from 2013. I only moved here September 2013 so anything before then is from my previous address which is fine as all in my name but it's finding it all. I don't have the £7.10 to send it for next day & cant go through weeks of waiting anymore.
