Nic1964 · 18/11/2015 21:52

Hi, my extension was 15 days.

forest01 I will definitely be making a complaint, I have names of everyone I've spoken to/dates/and what was said. I have all the call durations logged. I don't own my home, I privately rent as the local council wouldn't house me when my previous landlord served me an eviction as he sold the house. My rent is nearly 3 times what a council house is! If I didn't need the tax credits I'd tell them to shove it, it only helps with the rent, I'm hardly living a life of luxury on it! I was going to start an evening course at my local college at the start of the month but all this has messed that up for me too as I couldn't afford it as didn't think it would be going on for nearly 5months.

Sassie2633 · 18/11/2015 22:01

Thank you Nic xxx

forest01 · 18/11/2015 22:09

The problem is that they have stopped paying you tax credits and they haven't made a decision, I feel that they should still pay you until they are 100% positive because people have bills to pay, I hope they reinstate you with the extra money you had to pay the TV licence people!!

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 18/11/2015 22:12

So do I because my aunt paid that. I had to ring her at 6am yesterday, she didn't answer at first, I woke her up. I had nobody else to turn to, she didn't know how bad things actually were.

Croy1985 · 18/11/2015 22:54

A1b2 that's great news, fingers crossed for tomorrow. Finally u might be getting some answers

JBEM4 · 19/11/2015 06:44

Morning ladies - I've had another weekly payment in so can breathe again for a few days. Had my documents back 11 days ago and my case was sent to the decision makers 10 days ago but still nothing!! Don't like to keep calling them but I need to know!!!!

Fab news for you Cazza!! Must be a relief for you (I think we're in similar positions??) ... Fingers crossed I get the same result Hmm

Cazzamoody · 19/11/2015 14:37

Yes does sound the same, they said I should get my closed case letter Saturday I'm sure you will to ☺️

JBEM4 · 19/11/2015 15:33

I had until the 13th to send my documents in but sent them on 3rd (I think) and had them back a week later .... Tempted to give them another call but am actually worried they'll read something in to it if I call too often Confused

JBEM4 · 19/11/2015 16:10

So I called - basically they want information on when I moved my business in to new premises as my (ex) husband was helping financially towards the household as I had hefty start up costs (I put all this down on my covering letter) ... I explained and gave all the dates etc and was asked again to confirm we're not a couple, I am single etc. I confirmed and he basically said its going back in front of the decision makers with the information I've given today but it looks like my claim will be amended and will be based on it should be a joint claim not a single one and chances are it'll be decided I've been overpaid!!!!!! Apparently I'll know in the next couple days (hmmmmm!) but I asked if divorcing him will make any difference - it would seem not Sad

Doesn't look like things will go my way ladies Sad

Haggis48 · 19/11/2015 16:31

Oh no hopefully what u gave them today might help X How long have you claimed single for? It doesn't make sense so are ex partners not meant to pay the morgage for their children's home now?? More waiting I don't think they realise how upsetting this all is xx

JBEM4 · 19/11/2015 16:57

I've been single since the end of January. I saw a solicitor to see about legal separation/divorce but she advised us to see a mediator first before taking such a big step which we did - this is where we agreed what financial help he'd provide. Discussed this with tax credits and they told me as it comes under 'spousal maintenance' and includes child maintenance it's not included in their calculation. Actually just used their calculator and put the amount he pays in (until Jan when it halves) in and it stated it isn't taken into consideration .... UGH!
He currently pays the mortgage, the debt management plan payment and child maintenance ... Come January he halves the mortgage and debt management payment and will continue with maintenance for the kids ..... If my claim is amended do I get my tax credits adjusted when his payments go down since it qualifies as income in their eyes?? I think I'll phone them tomorrow and ask their opinion as I'm going in to a tailspin already and I don't even know how much I'm going to lose yet!!!

Haggis48 · 19/11/2015 17:20

It's all a nightmare!! People keep getting told different things - I'm the same as you with a joint morgage but been separated for over ten years - can't afford lawyers to get divorced!! X pays morgage and I pay him an amount each month for my share. He pays into my bank too to help student daughter with her rent! I feel we can't win 😞 maybe once you are earning money from ur business they won't consider him to be paying into your household however I thought that is what dads are meant to do!!

JBEM4 · 19/11/2015 17:25

The worst part is if he gave me the money in cash we could have hidden it - or if he paid the mortgage etc out of his own account nothing would be said ... Why is this so different? Confused

Haggis48 · 19/11/2015 17:41

I know hunni does not make sense!! X

Youarentkiddingme · 19/11/2015 18:17

Hi all. Ive been directed here from my thread in chat.

I've received a letter today from concentrix. They want all my bank statements, utility bills, council tax bill and rent information.

Apparently to check my tax credits are correct? But surely it's based on income not expenditure?

My claim is WTC, CTC and disability element of tax credit for DS. What has my utility and rent etc got to do with that? My deadline is in 2 weeks.

JBEM4 · 19/11/2015 19:00

Does it say what they're checking for? Mine said they had information that another adult may be living at my address and they wanted to make sure I was claiming correctly ... Others have checks done on their childcare costs .....
Basically they're checking to see what goes in to your account, whose name the bills are in etc ....
Hi by the way!!

Youarentkiddingme · 19/11/2015 19:06

Just said they are checking that Ive received the right amount.

I've nothing to hide and have no extra coming in etc - just seemed a daft thing to ask for - my bills!

Milkyway66 · 19/11/2015 19:08

Youarentkiddingme
I've had one of these letters too, I think the main reason they want to see your bills etc is to check they're only in your name, if your claiming tax credits as a single person.
I presume they will also make sure through our bank statements that our outgoings are sustained by our income

JBEM4 · 19/11/2015 19:13

Check your letter again - it will give a reason (if it helps my reason was at the back of the first page at the top) .... I couldn't work out how bank statements, bills etc would prove I was single and after a phone call I had with them today it turns out my (ex) husband paying towards the household makes us a couple so this is what they look for!

They also check credit reports to see if you have a financial link to anyone else .... X

Youarentkiddingme · 19/11/2015 20:58

Oh ok - that makes sense as I'm a single claimant and have been for 10 years. Everything is in my name and I don't get CM or anything. (Whole other thread Wink)

I wish they'd warn You about things like this when they offer paperless billing! I literally have no bills sent to me or bank statements etc. I only have my rental paper. I just hope I can get them from the companies quick enough to get them all off to concentrix by 13th December.

Youarentkiddingme · 19/11/2015 21:00

Oh yeah - says they have information that there might be another person linked to my address between 6th April and 12th Nov 2015. Should I worry about that? Does that mean someone has tried to get crisis in my name or at my address or something?

Password9 · 20/11/2015 00:00

Ive had this same letter. I spent hrs today calling gas eletric water and mortgage company requesting bills. I went bank got statements for my savings closed isa and 2 current accounts. Then managed to print out my other current account statements and online to print phone bills. I then went though and blank account numbers as im concerned about id fraud. I also labled all the transations. I also contacted council for bill. Im now just waiting for everything to come through post. Ive given my girlfriends name and asked if this is the person concerend also my lodgers name and again asked. My lodger been here since 2013 though. The reason they want to see these documents is to see if you have any financial links abd secondly. If you can afford your out goings without financial assistants from a partner. Im one they will need an accountant to balancey book. They havent asked about dept for example ive been spending on 0% interest credit card. So my out going look stupidly low. Half my wages are paid cash. So made sure i pointed that out. To top that off i bounce money between current accounts to earn the most interest i can. Im also really concerned if they do this to me this time next year. I wont have a mortgage, or any bills. As im buying into my mums place and moving in. How the they view that.

Milkyway66 · 20/11/2015 00:26

My letter also claims someone is linked to my address. Concentrix gave me the name of who it was over the phone, the previous owner of my house.
I didn't send off different bills, I just highlighted them on my bank statements as I was told this would be ok, although if you want to do it this way double check by phone yourself to make sure.
