Hi there

I am new to site but got the concentric letter on Tuesday saying they believe another adult is linked to my address or me from April -3 Nov. Called yesterday and they told me it is my ex husband. Like you JBEM4 my ex pays the mortgage, is still on council tax bill, we have a joint debt arrangement plan and he uses our address for his correspondence - which he says he has a right to do as he owns house. Have 2 older children so would not get discount from CT and ex wanted to be on it as he owned half house. I pay all the bills from my account and they are in my name. Ex is fantastic dad and pays money in regularly to support one D who is living away from home and regularly pays money into my account which I transfer to daughters rent acc or her bank. I do not get much ctc as I got a new job and my salary meant I was only entitled to £500 this year. The ironic thing is I phoned tax credit on Monday to update my income will be more this year (starting a new job on 23rd) and as a result they say I won't be entitled to any more. Then got this letter yesterday!! I'm just worried as I don't know how I can prove he's not here - he lives with sis during week and new gf at weekends. We have never divorced either as couldn't afford it!! I'm concerned they go back to previous years claims if you can't prove it!! On AL this week and ruined my week.
Stay strong sisters!!

Morgani97 · 11/11/2015 11:03

Really annoyed that this disgusting company are still hounding people. I had my tax credits stopped for just over 14 weeks, when they finally backed down and reinstated my payments I didn't even get an apology. I sent letters to them every week that were never acknowledged. Please ladies don't give up no matter how hard things get, just send them what they ask for then play the waiting game.

JBEM4 · 11/11/2015 11:12

Hi haggis - I spoke to concentrix this morning as it is literally overwhelming me.

Spoke to a lovely lady who told me she has sent my documents over to the decision making team, made sure I'd sent everything they asked for, asked whose name the bills are in (mine except for mortgage which is joint and step change which is also joint) and when I explained about the money my ex pays in to my account she said it's completely understandable and whatever agreement we reached between us doesn't affect any tax credits claim - everyone's financial situation is unique to them and of course he's going to support the house and the children (I'm hoping this is actually how they view it and is not the opinion of the lady I spoke to) - she also told me that unless they are 110% certain there's been a fraudulent/negligent claim they won't stop tax credits ..... Not sure how this applies to all you ladies who have had their money stopped! X

Haggis48 · 11/11/2015 11:32

Hi JBM

Yeah when I called them the guy was nice and said they understand about joint morgages but should not be on CT bill - even thou I pay it by DD. He just said send it all in and it will be reviewed. I'm just worried that apart from stopping payments if they rule against you what are the other consequences/ penalties!!! Wish things with ex were no so amicable and that we are so tied with joint debts - but he does not live here. Did u sent info of your ex address - mine stays at his sis as can't afford own place arm. Hate how it's all before Xmas when I stress so much anyway - wish I wasn't s worrier! X

forest01 · 11/11/2015 11:32

HI
I am in the same situation as you JBEM4. Joint mortgage with my ex, money being paid out of my bank account, bills all in my name. I tried to remove his name a few times but was refused from the mortgage provider. Ex pays child maintenance every month for the kids. I think this has all been a terrible situation, scrutinising bank accounts and making me feel guilty spending money!! Hopefully that lady was correct because I have a mortgage and bills to pay and I have never been in debt before!!

forest01 · 11/11/2015 11:44

If you pay the CT bill and it comes out of your account then its your bill. You should ring the council now and remove his name and let Tax Credits know if they query this....
I didn't give ex address, I take it becasue his name is on the mortgage then this is why I have been contacted???

Haggis48 · 11/11/2015 12:06

Hi forest

Thanks good advice!! Yeah if they are checking credit files it may be!! I was just told he was liked to my name or address. Ex told me yesterday he applied for a credit card last month (was declined) and used my address! He does not see a prob with this as owns half and pays majority of morgage!! He's a great dad ( haven't been together for over 10 years) and I don't want to get on his bad side - he still pays money into my account to help our eldest pay rent at college! His kids are his life!! He lives with sis so no paper trail there. I suppose on paper it does look dodgy which is why I'm worrying x

JBEM4 · 11/11/2015 12:25

Hi all - I didn't give details of his new address as I'm pretty sure he just uses it as a base and spends time with the woman he had an affair with (don't know where she lives). I'm pretty sure I was contacted as my nephew lives with me and he applied for a credit card. The gas/elec/water/phone/council tax are all in my name and they all come out of my account so I'm praying that's enough to satisfy them. If it doesn't and they stop the payments I can't pay childcare, my bills, feed the kids or live on the amount I earn, CB and maintenance alone Sad
That being said we all have our health and at least if my house is repossessed the council will consider rehousing me Hmm

Haggis48 · 11/11/2015 12:37

That's awful for you and so many - I suppose I'm fortunate that I have a good paying job and was only getting £350 this year from ctc and as I start new post next week won't be entitled to anything!! Still loads of debt thou to pay off before I can cut financial link with ex

Connorsean04 · 11/11/2015 12:50

Yes, received all the stuff I had to send, so it's just a waiting game. But as it's almost Christmas I'm starting to get very stressed nd worried. Its awful to see how many others are in the same situation. It truly disgusts me. Something needs doing about it.

Connorsean04 · 11/11/2015 12:58

Hi JBEM4, concentrix stooped my payments as I hadn't been intouch within the alloted time frame. Which was due to me not receiving a letter from them, which they say they did send. It's just so draining nd unnecessary. I know people who are making single claims nd live together. Which I pointed out t concentrix is who they shud b going after.

forest01 · 11/11/2015 13:31

Has anyone on this site been penalised for having a joint mortgage and in reciept of child maintenance into bank account??!! Thanks in advance ..

JBEM4 · 11/11/2015 14:11

The lady I spoke to this morning told me they're aware and take into consideration that couples have joint commitments and maintenance isn't included in any tax credit calculation - she basically said that ex partners are of course going to help financially towards the children and household ... Time will tell if this is correct x

LoubyLou123456 · 11/11/2015 15:22

i think i got contacted because eldest lad applied for bank card, sent all proof in reg bills in my name and go out of my account and also council tax bill, i also detailed money going in fir youngest child whom is not my son and get payment in for him as fosterd child, i also gave names and dob of my kids and everything was fine, i think my son applying for bank account triggered it

JBEM4 · 11/11/2015 16:26

Fingers crossed for you Looby - my documents were returned within 6 days and they were sent to the decision makers today so hoping to hear in the next couple weeks x

Croy1985 · 11/11/2015 17:35

A1b2 any news yet? Anyone get the feeling that it's only the single parents getting singled out

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 11/11/2015 17:56

Hey Croy, nothing yet! I've had an awful day today so didn't get a chance to call them. Will try tomorrow.

JBEM4 · 12/11/2015 06:07

I had my weekly payment (woke up at 1.14am to check) ... I can breathe for another few days Confused

Hawaiiturtle101 · 12/11/2015 12:56

I've just received all my documents back. I posted them last Tuesday..They were signed for on Thurs and back today so 1 week..my deadline is tomorrow. The letter just says you will be hearing from us regards your tax credit claim......more waiting. I'm not contacting them until I hear from them and they decide to stop my tax credits..then I will contact them with all guns blazing as he is not on any of my bills so they would be making a wrong judgement based on what they asked me.to send..anyway i sit and wait now.

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 12/11/2015 13:23

I decided I wouldn't be phoning them when I sent my mandatory reconsideration, I thought I'd just wait & hopefully it wouldn't take too long. My first lot of documents came back to me 10weeks after posting them then after 14weeks I was told that I had to do mandatory reconsideration, they received that 7weeks ago and I got the documents back in 4days. I've heard nothing since. I called them Friday & told all she could see was that it was with the team being looked at. I'm going to have to phone them when I'm home later as tomorrow is 21weeks with no payments. My rent is due again Sunday it's my daughters birthday in 2weeks and enforcement officer has given me til end of month to pay £591 or remove goods from my home. And all I keep seeing & hearing people talk about is Christmas! I feel like I'm going to have a breakdown it's so worrying. This group has kept me going as I have nobody else to talk to.

JBEM4 · 12/11/2015 13:45

Oh A1b2 what a nightmare!! Can I ask what a mandatory reconsideration is? Couldn't they just sort it from the first lot of documents you sent?
I can't imagine what you're going through and knowing it could be the same for myself and others shortly is petrifying Sad

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 12/11/2015 13:49

Basically after 14weeks they told me they wasn't satisfied with first lot of documents so asked for further ones to be sent to ask to overturn the decision, they call it mandatory reconsideration.

Hawaiiturtle101 · 12/11/2015 13:52

It's a terrible situation. I think they will ask me for more documents as they want to prove me wrong and pin this on me. I think they class you as guilty till innocent. It's not right that you can subjected to non payment of a life line benefit.

forest01 · 12/11/2015 14:21

Did they say what was wrong with the first lot of docs and what further ones did you have to send A1b2C3....

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 12/11/2015 14:24

Thing is I've sent them everything they've asked for, 2years worth, so I've done all I can, I have no problem with them checking everything but taking 21weeks is ridiculous! On the 30th of this month it's 5months! 5months without a payment, it's left me in a desperate situation!
