Hi Katherine, yes I spoke to the council a few weeks back to explain why I couldn't keep up with council tax payments and yes they didn't care and told me the further action would be taken if the full amount of £251 wasn't paid by 18th September. I said that was impossible as its 3 days after my rent date and I was struggling to pay that as had no tax credits since end of June. So obviously went to magistrates court then enforcement officer came yesterday and it's now £591! He's given me til end of month but my rent also due in 10days and my little ones bday in 2weeks. Things are just getting more and more difficult. Feel like I'm under a black cloud that's getting lower & lower.

KatharineClifton · 05/11/2015 18:38

Can you start a new claim for Tax Credits? I seem to remember other people have done that on here?

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 05/11/2015 19:33

I have been thinking of doing that!

Croy1985 · 05/11/2015 19:59

I tried when mine was stopped for 15 weeks and they said I'm already signed up to tax credits even tho I didn't get anything. Really feel for u a1b2

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 05/11/2015 22:16

Yeah that's what I expected to happen if I made a new application.

Hawaiiturtle101 · 06/11/2015 13:58

Well my documents have been signed for today so it's the waiting game now. I'll post regular updates as it may be of help to others my next payment should be 11th November..deadline is the 13th

I've just spoken to Concentrix & been told that my case is still with the mandatory reconsideration team being looked at. I questioned her on the timescale as I was told last week by HMRC that it was 6weeks for mandatory reconsideration and my 6weeks is up Tuesday so I told her I'd call back Wednesday and she said that there's no guarantee it would be done. Why have these guidelines in place if they can't adhere to them? It's ok for them to treat us so disgustingly yet they can't even do their job properly on time!

Hawaiiturtle101 · 06/11/2015 18:21

What is mandatory reconsideration and when does that kick in?

Morgani97 · 07/11/2015 09:23

I started a new claim, after my mandatory reconsideration was rejected,I also appealed against their decision and won. I got my new claim backdated too which was a surprise so it might be worth doing good luck

Trickyvikki88 · 08/11/2015 12:20

Hi all I'm married pregnant mum with 2 boys, myself and my husband claim working tax and child tax credit, my husband works 24+hrs pw, we got contacted by concentrix in July wanting wages slips ect, so we sent all info they needed, a few weeks later they got back to us and told us we are not eligible for working tax credits and stopped all payments immediately, our child tax also went down, so upon going to citizens advice and showing them all my info they told me to do a mandatory reconsideration letter to concentrix as I could clearly prove my husband works more than 24hrs which meets criteria.. I sent this off in mid August and still haven't heard from them I have rang them every week to pester them but they keep saying it still hasn't been looked at bearing in mind for a reconsideration it should take no more than 42 days for a response it's been almost 3 months and still nothing. But received letter from tax credits saying that my payments for child tax has gone from £116 pw to £39.38 pw and no working tax will be paid, when I rang them they said I needed to speak to concentrix, so I rang them again and they are still telling me they haven't done the consideration yet.... Now I'm really struggling I have gone from receiving £60 pw working tax and £116 child tax to just £39.38 pw tax credits total, my husbands wage minimum is £740 out of this we have to pay part rent and council tax as we're not eligible for full housing council tax benefit, as well as other household bills, also have to pay for my child's school meals, and travel cost for my husbands work commitments... Has anyone else had the same or similar problem that could offer advice because I am genuinely struggling here I have had complications with my pregnancy due to blood pressure issues all caused by stress, I am boarder line giving up here, I can see why so many ppl are on benefits if this is how u get treated when u try working for your family....... Thanks in advance

Hawaiiturtle101 · 08/11/2015 22:56

It's awful that payments can be stopped..like a punishment. I'm expecting the same and I don't even know who is apparently linked to me or my address.

Milkyway66 · 09/11/2015 06:49

My paperwork should get to concentrix today and I hope my tax credits don't get stopped like other people's have, (single parent, just been made redundant) It's appalling that we're all going through this.
I was actually told on the phone that the previous owner of my house is apparently linked to me/my address.
I don't know how they should be as I bought my house over 10yrs ago Confused
According to concentrix, my address was randomly picked up by their computer, however (Although I've got nothing to hide) I can't help wondering if I've really only been 'flagged up' because someone has maliciously contacted hmrc to make false allegations about me? (thinking of trouble making ex!)
Does anyone else think these letters really are just randomly sent, or do you think in some cases there's more to it?

Hawaiiturtle101 · 09/11/2015 07:17

I'm not sure..my letter said someone linked to my address but no name. They seem to forget that my house is my own and I pay my own mortgage...If Ive allowed my mum to send her catalogue statement here for example then that's my business..They don't own me. I don't even claim single person discount on the council tax as I can pay it myself and don't need the council in my life. I've sent all my documents which arw all in my name so not sure what they looking for..The letter even was titled Ms ....and then my first name..not even my surname..looked very generic to me. I'm expecting a payment on Wednesday and my deadline is Friday.

Milkyway66 · 09/11/2015 08:49

Hawaii
My letter also gave no name, it just said that someone was linked to me or my address, although, when I contacted concentrix to ask who this supposed 'linked' person was, they gave me her name (previous owner)

Hawaiiturtle101 · 09/11/2015 10:32

I still get post for the last 2 previous owners and had someone else's tax credit renewal sent here twice..Once in April and then August which I sent back unknown. I think it may be that as it was another woman so am sure 2 tax credit claims at 1 address would trigger something. She's not on my bills though so they won't get any joy in pinning anything on me lol

Milkyway66 · 09/11/2015 11:53

I'm puzzled by mine as I've not received any post sent to the previous owner Confused
Let's hope things are sorted out for us quickly!

JBEM4 · 09/11/2015 13:20

Hi all - I had 'the letter' on 21st October saying they had information someone else was living with me. I'm assuming it's my teenage nephew (19yrs old who I obviously don't claim anything for) who moved in when my mum passed away (he lived with her).
I sent all my documents in on 3rd November and received them all back today (9th) - from reading the other posts on here this seems extremely quick!!! I've called them as I needed to change my childcare costs (they've gone down and apparently they continue to pay the higher rate for 4 weeks??) but they don't have any information about their investigation and I should hear within the next couple weeks.

Has anyone else had their paperwork back so quickly? It's making me nervous Confused

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 09/11/2015 13:59

Hi JBEM4 I sent my documents for my Mandatory Reconsideration on a Monday & had them back 5 days later on the Saturday. That was 6weeks ago & heard nothing since.

JBEM4 · 09/11/2015 14:37

Thanks A1b - I know we're told we've no reason to be anxious if we haven't done anything wrong but whether my children and I can eat/pay childcare etc is in their hands. I dread every Thursday in case there's no payment in my account and if the 100+ pages of documents I sent them isn't enough to prove I live alone I don't know what else I can do!
Are you still receiving payments? X

A1b2C3d4E5f6 · 09/11/2015 14:44

No come Friday I'm 21weeks with no payments. I'm not anxious I'm just seriously in a massive hole of debt now. I've sent them 2years worth of documents.

JBEM4 · 09/11/2015 15:19

I had to send 6 months worth in - waiting to see if I have a payment on Thursday now. We will literally not be able to live without the tax credits and I feel physically sick!! I'm still confused how the paper work they ask for prices we're single one way or the other Confused

JBEM4 · 09/11/2015 15:48

*proves not prices lol

Hawaiiturtle101 · 09/11/2015 18:30

I agree..how can they stop payments based on your bank accounts and water rates bills? I'm on all my bills, my bank accounts, my tv license...and if they arw looking for a second name on my bills they aren't going to find it. I also wonder if they can't 'get'you on one thing do they try to catch you on something else like my self employment...is it all a game to them?
