It's not hard to set up a profile, I'm sure you'll help him :)

felttippens · 08/06/2014 20:04

I've just checked the professional councils website and he's still listened as registered not sure what the process is

OP posts:
felttippens · 08/06/2014 20:05

I feel like hitting him never mind helping him

OP posts:
MrsLindor · 08/06/2014 20:05

Has he been to a hearing?

MrsLindor · 08/06/2014 20:06

I bet you do.

lougle · 08/06/2014 20:07

Yes, I was just checking because obviously not being registered would stop work in that field, so agency would be out of the question.

If it is nhs and clinical, would he consider being a medical rep? They go around showing surgeons/medics new products and encouraging them to place contracts.

lougle · 08/06/2014 20:08

Or perhaps a job as a claims assessor for an insurance company?

felttippens · 08/06/2014 20:08

Yes there were two hearings

OP posts:
felttippens · 08/06/2014 20:09

He's fit for nothing at the moment he just came up and is stoned and drunk and getting up in morning to labour for £30 while I panic about the mortgage

lougle · 08/06/2014 20:09

It would be a separate matter with the governing body. The employer notifies them, they then consider the situation, then they decide on action.

felttippens · 08/06/2014 20:10

Does anyone know how likely he will get a notice period pay? And what happens to holiday pay and his pension
At the moment I don't know when we will next have any money.

OP posts:
felttippens · 08/06/2014 20:11

Thank you lougle that explains why he's still on there

OP posts:
MrsLindor · 08/06/2014 20:14

To clarify the agency suggestion.

If he was for example a physiotherapist, and lost his professional registration he wouldn't be able to work as a physio but he could support a commissioning organisation reviewing community therapy commissioning for example which would use his experience but wouldn't need registration.

MrsLindor · 08/06/2014 20:17

I don't think he'd get notice pay, but should get holiday pay, if he hasn't used his entitlement, but surely that won't be much with only 2 full months of the financial/holiday year gone.

HermioneWeasley · 08/06/2014 20:19

Assuming he was dismissed for gross misconduct then he won't get notice pay but should be paid for holiday accrued but not taken. Pension normally stops from last working day, but I don't know about the NHS

storytopper · 08/06/2014 20:20

So sorry to hear about your predicament, OP.

As others have said, the labouring needs to stop. He is just staying out of your way, taking his mind off his problems and spending time with his drug-enabling friend while pretending to do something positive. A low income is no use - he needs to earn at least more than what you would get in benefits.

Guardian article about bouncing back after being fired. Good point about agreeing the wording of a reference with his ex-employers.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 08/06/2014 20:21

Quite frankly I would ask him to leave so that I could claim as a single parent. Certainly if he can't step up to the plate now, when the chips are down, I wouldn't be prepared to feed him etc. while I literally did not know how long I'd be able to feed the children.

Does he have parents he can move in with? He could then still cover some childcare possibly, but as others have said, you'd be in a better position both financially and personally - as right now he's adding insult to injury.

What control do you have over remaining finances? Because if he is actually taking what remains of family money to pay or drink and drugs right now, I'd be calling the police on him myself.

He's an utter disgrace.

expatinscotland · 08/06/2014 20:22

You will not get income support.

Doinmummy · 08/06/2014 20:22

I'm sorry you're taking the brunt of his irresponsibility Op.

You say he got a slap on the wrist for possessing cocaine. Would this show up on a CRB check? I thought it was only if you went to court etc .

lougle · 08/06/2014 20:23

If he has been dismissed for gross misconduct he is very unlikely to get notice pay.

Doinmummy · 08/06/2014 20:24

I agree with a PP who said tell all companies/banks/building societies/energy providers etc of your situation before you start to default on payments.

expatinscotland · 08/06/2014 20:25

Thing is, even as a lone parent, the kids are too old for the OP to claim Income Support. And she is self-employed so not a Job Seeker.

They have a mortgage, so no housing benefit just yet.

Worth it for tax credits, maybe.

lougle · 08/06/2014 20:26

If the 'slap on his Wrist' was a police caution then it was 'spent' immediately, but clinical roles in the NHS are exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act, so are never 'spent' for declaration purposes. This is very clear on all NHS applications.

felttippens · 08/06/2014 20:28

From what I've been reading he can claim for income based job seekers for us as a couple? Due to my low income - this would then open is up to help

It's all such a minefield

I have full control of the main money but the labouring is giving him a small amount of spending power I suppose

It looks like your business may have to go on hold, realistically you're probably going to have a step up and get some work.

If it's full time and only bringing in £4K it's not best use of your time in this situation.
