AlbiMix I am sorry that reading that made you upset, although can completely understand why. I know anecdotes aren’t always helpful, but in case it does give hope, two of the women in my NCT group had had miscarriages before having their first full pregnancy. Both were relatively young and went on to have two children each.

AlbiMix · 17/03/2021 10:00

@Badlydrawngirly sorry for the typos in my last message, I was about to start work hehe. I meant to say glad you're getting information out of the MCs.

@Miscarriage39 I'm afraid I also don't have advice there as my bleeding stopped fully until my period started recently. If it doesn't stop perhaps you should call EPU as has been suggested - maybe give it one or two more days and call if no improvement? If you're feeling well otherwise it hopefully isn't serious 🤞

Thanks for your reassurance, on the whole the book is helpful but that particular statistic was surprising to me as I thought first pregnancies were more likely to miscarry. I'm struggling with the feeling that I won't be able to have a successful pregnancy and the knowledge that the only way to find out is keep trying and risk more MCs.

Scottishskifun · 17/03/2021 10:07

@Miscarriage39 yes this happened with me til about 14 days (I went into spontaneous miscarriage in the end).
If it goes past 14 days since surgery then call EPU as occasionally it's a sign of retained material.

birdbybird · 17/03/2021 10:38

Hi @AlbiMix when did you get the negative pregnancy test? It’s been 2 weeks since my heaviest bleed day but only 2 or 3 days that I’ve not been seeing any brown coloured discharge. Before that it was faint brown, so had slowly tapered off from the heavy days.
I still got a faint positive pregnancy test today.

AlbiMix · 17/03/2021 10:46

@birdbybird I got a negative roughly 2 weeks after my bleeding ended (including light bleeding), so it was further along than you are now in the sense that your bleeding fully stopped just a couple of days ago. From reading other experiences I think it's 100% normal for you to still be getting a positive now. Are you tracking your bleeding with an app? I find that helpful just for remembering how long it's all taking, how long I bled for etc., for future reference.

birdbybird · 17/03/2021 11:05

Thanks @AlbiMix
I tracked the heavy bleed days (3 or 4 days) but then got a bit lazy after that.
Was a case of not wanting to be reminded of the disappointment by logging on to the app.

AlbiMix · 17/03/2021 11:13

Fair enough @birdbybird, I get you :( the apps are also a bit confusing after a MC I find because I don't know if it understands my new cycle and predictions are probably off atm...

HotCupOfNo · 17/03/2021 11:29

Hi all. The hospital have phoned and said they won't discharge me without a blood test. It's so hard to go into the hospital. I've been having a few weird pains and still off my food so I feel it's the best thing to do but I thought this was all over and now it's not 💔

HotCupOfNo · 17/03/2021 11:30

Thinking of you @DappledOliveGroves ❤️❤️❤️

Miscarriage39 · 17/03/2021 12:59

Thanks for all the reassurance ladies. I don’t think it’s likely to be anything too untoward, but will monitor and ask the EPU if does continue or I get any other symptoms. It’s probably is just a case of my body taking it’s time to do what it needs to.

HotCupOfNo that’s frustrating and so not what you need right now. I don’t suppose they would accept you getting the bloods done at your GP and having the result sent over, would they?

AlbiMix · 17/03/2021 14:04

Sorry to hear this @HotCupOfNo, good suggestion from @Miscarriage39 about the GP, although if you're still unwell you may need the hospital to rule out further complications from the MC? What kind of pains are you having?

HotCupOfNo · 17/03/2021 14:24

Thanks @Miscarriage39 that's a good suggestion and I'll ask next time - it always needs a doctor as they can only ever get in through my wrist, so I don't know if this will make it any harder to do it at the GP's, I'll ask though because it's around the corner from me and would be so much easier and also I won't be passed by newborn babies when sitting waiting to be called in 💔

@AlbiMix how's the beast doing today?? I've been having some pains where they said my corpus luteum was, a bit of a slight stab in my left groin, but also still got a few pains in my bottom and vagina like I did just before I started bleeding. Just came back from the Hospital - they left me waiting in a corridor for an hour 🙄 but the doctor was quick and it was over relatively quickly, glad I did it in the end. I didn't mention how I was feeling with the pains and stuff as was just in 'the zone' so will see what they say when they call back. I've also been really struggling to eat but that could be emotional I suppose.

AlbiMix · 17/03/2021 15:13

@HotCupOfNo I'm glad the blood test itself was ok but 1 hour of corridor doesn't sound fun (reminds me of my horrible 1 hour post scan wait at EPU). I hope you didn't have to see many babies.
I'm sure I've read about those pains on other MC threads, have you checked out any other threads on that subject? Might help you see what others have said in terms of how long it lasted. But definitely ask them when they call to follow up, to be safe. It's a drag to keep interacting with the hospital but if you get any issues addressed now, it will be done sooner.

The Beast has definitely calmed down today. Typical, I went out yesterday eve to buy more big pads as I was really going through them and then today it's much lighter. The bleeding was heavier than my usual period for sure but strangely the pain was not as bad.

DappledOliveGroves · 17/03/2021 17:49

Just out of surgery and had very welcome toast back on the ward. All went well and they got the retained tissue out. Hopefully can get back home soon.

AlbiMix · 17/03/2021 19:12

Well done @DappledOliveGroves, brilliant news that it all went well. Hope you get home soon and get spoiled tonight!

AlbiMix · 17/03/2021 19:18

Hi all, does anyone know in what context women can be prescribed progesterone? Do you have to have repeated losses or can you ask to be prescribed it after one MC? Does the GP prescribe it? Anyone know anything about this?

Madeoftea · 17/03/2021 19:25

@DappledOliveGroves I'm glad to hear your surgery went well. I hope you're taking it easy and get lots of rest when you're home ♥️

DappledOliveGroves · 17/03/2021 19:33

@AlbiMix the EPU confirmed to me that they will prescribe me progesterone in any future pregnancy and for me to contact them directly if I get pregnant again. Otherwise I know people on here have had a private prescription having seen a consultant and that some private IVF clinics like Nova Fertility will issue prescriptions once you've had a consultation, even after just one miscarriage.

Miscarriage39 · 17/03/2021 19:44

HotCupOfNo I am glad the blood test went okay, but sorry you had to hang around!

AlbiMix good to hear that the Beast is becomes tamer.

Brilliant news about your surgery DappledOliveGroves. I hope you are either already home, or get home very soon.

HotCupOfNo · 17/03/2021 23:17

Blood test back and I'm in the clear, so minimal progesterone and HCG. Finding this tough, when I thought I would be relieved. It's weird how you can think for sure you will feel one way about something and then it knocks you sideways when you feel the opposite.

On another note, does anyone experience IBS and found that their miscarriage caused a flare up? I've not really had a 'flare up' before and suffer from IBS in a more low level chronic way, but I think I've deduced that the pains I'm having and lack of appetite etc are down to one. And some other TMI symptoms I won't scar you with!

HotCupOfNo · 17/03/2021 23:19

Glad to hear it went well @DappledOliveGroves, hope you've got lots of lovely food/chocolate in the house to come home to and are being super gentle with yourself

kiwi17 · 18/03/2021 08:39

@HotCupOfNo I have stress related IBS and it definitely flared up when I started spotting before I had the scan that confirmed the mc. I always get a flare up just before af normally anyway but I wasn't sure if this was because I knew something was wrong and my body sensed my worry... :( that's good about the blood tests although I know what you mean about feeling different about it - completely understandable. I should have been going for my 12 week scan today so going to have to distract myself to the max today:( hope everyone else is doing ok!

justwant2beamum · 18/03/2021 08:45

@Miscarriage39 I had ERPC surgery on 5th March and bled until about Tuesday Wednesday this week 16/17th so about 12/13 days. I'd say about 7-10 days a bit like a period then this week more just light spotting. I had a MMC with no bleeding before my surgery. My EPU said up to 2 weeks bleeding. Hope that helps x

HotCupOfNo · 18/03/2021 08:55

@kiwi17 I guess with all of these hormones and emotions a flare up makes sense. I'm sorry about today : ( that's so so hard. Sending you a big hug xx

Miscarriage39 · 18/03/2021 09:25

Thanks for sharing your experience justwant2beamum, that’s very reassuring. I also had a MMC with no bleeding, but had a partial medical management 14 days ago, then a D&C 9 days ago, so it all sounds within the realms of normality. Someone probably did explain at the hospital, but what with going there several times, seeing so many doctors and having different procedures, it all blurred a bit! I also think I got my hopes up when it tailed off so quickly.
How are you doing now?

kiwi17 thinking of you today. All these missed milestones are pretty rubbish, aren’t they? I hope you manage to distract and don’t feel too down, but equally, be kind to yourself.

HotCupOfNo I’m glad the blood tests showed your levels to be low. Is it the re-reminder that you are not pregnant that you are struggling with? I hope today is an easier one for you.

I’ve woken up with a UTI! Luckily I got through to the GP and they are going to put antibiotics aside for me. I’ve also booked in my blood test for when my iron treatment finishes. Am going to try to keep busy today by sorting the sideboard (AKA dumping ground).
