@PrettySad that's great news that your period had returned. I was also so relieved when mine came back four weeks after the MC. It gives you a return to some normality and helps you understand what's going on with your body.

@Khan2021 very sorry for your loss. I didn't have any interventions with my MC but I'm sure others can advise you. But my understanding that it is fine to start trying after the first cycle if you feel ready, especially if your doctor said so.

Khan2021 · 18/06/2021 13:57

@AlbiMix thank you so much, I am hoping for the best. I am doing fine so far . It's just a waiting game I guess..🙂🙂

WildflowerPetals · 18/06/2021 14:11

@PrettySad Glad your periods still seem to be regular and you haven't had to wait too long for it to return. I was told to avoid using tampons for the first period after MC, I think it's just incase they cause discomfort though. Hopefully your period returning has given you some closure, I know it did me after my first MMC.

@Khan2021 So sorry for your loss. I had MM for my first and didn't have any intervention for this one, but both times I was told I can start TTC whenever I felt ready.

@MrsFLongbottom I hope it continues to progress and isn't drawn out for too much longer 🤞🏼

MrsFLongbottom · 19/06/2021 05:27

I’ve had some bad cramping overnight, and just passed what i assume was the sac but didn’t see due to the blood. Hoping the worst is done with now and I can try and process.

I hope you all are ok and can have some down time over the weekend/maybe do something you enjoy (I anticipate watching a lot of Friends and eating a lot of ice cream) xxx

Lulumam · 19/06/2021 07:41

@MrsFLongbottom it does sound like you have passed the worst and I’m hopeful now you can spend time resting and trying to process what happened. I’m so very sorry for your loss. Just a reminder - and we are all different as you rightly said - I passed a huge clot without warning over a week after I passed the sac and I know now of a couple of others this has happened to (be it some happen just a few days later) so don’t be too shocked (like I was!) if this happens.

@PrettySad this is good news! I hope my cycle recovers as well as yours - fingers crossed!

@Khan2021so sorry for your loss. I haven’t had medical management but I understand that unless your pregnancy was ectopic (treated chemically) or molar which it sounds like yours wasn’t you can start again TTC as soon as you’re ready. Hope you feel better soon!

MrsFLongbottom · 19/06/2021 09:15

@Lulumam thank you- I feel loads better today, I think just because the waiting was awful. I’m still sad, but not anxious. Thank you- I’ll keep it in mind, it’s good to be prepared! I had seen that earlier on some of your posts but I think it’s easy to forget what might be normal when you’re surprised. How are you feeling today?

WildflowerPetals · 19/06/2021 09:20

@MrsFLongbottom Glad things seem to be progressing for you and you're feeling better 😊

graciepoo · 20/06/2021 03:58

So I had my blood test yesterday and my HCG has come down to non-pregnant levels. I’m so so sad. It’s easy to sometimes wish the doctors were wrong. But they weren’t. I guess it’s time for me to move on and try to conceive.

Lulumam · 20/06/2021 21:27

@MrsFLongbottom I’m ok thanks. Feels a bit like being pregnant was just a mad dream now as other than not having a period yet (which I know I won’t for a while yet) my body feels back to normal. Makes me a bit sad but also quite proud of my body for doing what it had to do when it had no choice and getting me this far. Just praying for a negative test this week then can think about TTC again as soon as I start ovulating as time isn’t on my side! I know this might be far too early for others but for me it feels right to try again. Hope I’m not judged for this :(

@graciepoo my heart goes out to you x. I know I’m saying I want a negative test this week but I also know I’ll have a little cry if I do get one…

MrsFLongbottom · 21/06/2021 11:44

@Lulumam I don’t think anyone will judge you- we all have to make our own choices based on what is right for us and our bodies. I am also keen to try again quickly, so I’m hoping the negative test doesn’t take too long to come through.

I’ve just come home from my second scan, they seemed to think they were going to see an embryo even though I told them I had passed everything on Saturday Hmm. Scan showed all tissue is now gone apart from a bit of lining left to shed still, so I’m hoping that I don’t bleed for too much longer. They also advised not to try again till after my next period but when I questioned why they said it was just for dating not risk based advice.

Feel very odd - it was the best outcome in this situation, but hated being hopeful for news I really didn’t want if that makes sense?

WildflowerPetals · 21/06/2021 12:48

I had an appointment with my GP this morning, I was worried because the last convo I had with them before this pregnancy wasn't great but this time the doctor I spoke to was SO lovely. I asked if I could have any investigations and specifically asked for bloods for APS and she said she thinks that the rules and regulations around MC's are ridiculous and she's more than happy for me to have the bloods and then go from there. After 2 MC's I finally feel like someone is on my side and wants to help - it's such a relief to feel like I'm getting somewhere and have the support of a doctor x

@graciepoo Sorry it's hit you hard but I hope it's given you some closure x

@Lulumam I feel the same, like being pregnant was a dream - it's a very strange feeling isn't it. I don't think it's too early at all, it's whatever feels right for you. Last MC I waited for my period and it took 7 weeks so this time me and DH have decided not to wait.

@MrsFLongbottom It makes perfect sense, of course you'd want nothing more than to still be pregnant but in this scenario it's good that the scan was clear and you know the MC is almost over.

SamBass · 21/06/2021 14:00

Hello to everyone new on here, so sorry you've had to join!

Im currently waiting for my second AF post MMC currently 2 days late and feeling very confused.
I waited 11 weeks for my first AF post Surgery.

MrsFLongbottom · 22/06/2021 09:08

@WildflowerPetals that’s brilliant, well done for asking especially after the last doctor wasn’t great. I’m really glad she’s doing the bloods for you. I’ve found GPs to be so variable- I’ve learned who the good ones are at my practice now but isn’t that ridiculous.

@SamBass I hope it comes soon for you, that sounds like a long wait for the first one too.

My best friend had her 20 week scan yesterday and has just put up an announcement on her sm- I’m so so happy for her as she’s had her own hard journey to get there but I’m also feeling really sad today now. I’d hoped to be telling my friends this week about my own pregnancy.

im2sad · 22/06/2021 09:59

@WildflowerPetals really glad they'll do some investigations for you.

It's been 3 week since I passed the sac/placenta. I had stopped bleeding but it started up again on Sunday and is now really heavy. EPU are suggesting a period although having done a bit of ready that doesn't usually come for at least 4 weeks.

Lulumam · 22/06/2021 21:46

@MrsFLongbottom I understand the mixed emotions you must have felt. I’m due to take pg test tomorrow and in my heart still know I’ll be sad if it shows negative even though my sensible brain knows it is best if it does! I’ll let you know how I get on….

@WildflowerPetals so glad you’ve finally found some support and thanks for your kind words. It’s so tough TTC and even tougher when mc is thrown into the mix that finding someone on our side makes the world of difference!

@im2sad so sorry to hear you are bleeding heavily again. Did you ever get a negative test? If so may be it is a period as I do hear mc messes up some cycles but you’re right 3 weeks seems early but I do know first periods after can be heavier so it might be this. How are you feeling in yourself? If you feel unwell in any way I definitely think EPU should see you or failing that get in touch with your GP.

im2sad · 22/06/2021 22:48

@Lulumam I was due to take a pg test today - didn't manage to get the the shop today though. I phoned EPU and they weren't very helpful, just said to go to A&E if I was filling 2 large pads in an hour. It is exactly like my normal period, bright red when the other blood was brown before it stopped. I'v always had irregular periods though, over 28 days so to have a period within 3 weeks of passing the sac is surprising to me.

Hope you get your negative tomorrow so you can try again.

@MrsFLongbottom I know how you feel. There's lots of pregnant ladies around me right now and I can't help but always think how pregnant I'd have been.

AlbiMix · 23/06/2021 09:58

Hi all, I hope everyone is doing ok, sending positive vibes to you all wherever you are in the MC journey. I saw a few people talking about TTC when they feel ready so just wanted to share a thread which was set up off the back of this one, for people who felt ready to TTC after their MC and wanted support from others in the same boat. It's been a god send to me!

In case anyone wants to take a look when ready to think about it.

MrsFLongbottom · 23/06/2021 11:50

Thanks @AlbiMix I’m hoping I’ll be along soon. Bleeding seems to have stopped and internet test is just a faint line already, which feels weird and sad but also a little hopeful to try again.

@im2sad that sounds really frustrating to not be able to get any help/answers. It makes me annoyed that we have to be really ill before they’ll help a lot of the time.

Lulumam · 23/06/2021 12:19

@AlbiMix I’ll be sure to check that out thank you!

@im2sad I’m so sorry you aren’t getting the support you need. Perhaps try a pg test and if negative see if your bleed ends when your normal period would? It does sound like perhaps the mc has messed up your body but I guess it’s better to have a period early than be waiting for weeks as I’ve seen other post?

@MrsFLongbottom I have a feint line today Sad it made me really sad. I don’t know what to do as three weeks post mc but bleeding went on for two weeks afterwards so possibly still sorting itself out! I really don’t want to have a scan or a D&C. I fee my body is getting back to normal and kind of don’t want to mess with it again.

Advice from anyone who has been through similar and took no action - did you get a negative pg result just a bit later than the standard 3 weeks?

SamBass · 23/06/2021 13:34

@Lulumam i had surgery at 9 weeks for MMC it took me 4 weeks post surgery to get a complete negative on FRER. It took me 11 weeks to get my first AP.

Prior to my MMC i was 28 day cycles, I'm currently waiting for my second AF post Surgery and on cycle day 32 so technically 4 days late....

im2sad · 23/06/2021 15:49

@MrsFLongbottom @Lulumam I just did a test and it's come back with a fairly faint but pretty obvious positive. Now I'm even more confused. Perhaps the 3 weeks of bleeding I already had wasn't enough to clear everything. I'm probably going to phone EPU to let them know due to the heavy bleeding but if I wasn't bleeding I'd of probably just tested again in a few days (which I'm pretty sure is what I'll be told to do).

Lulumam · 23/06/2021 20:49

@SamBass thanks for sharing I suspected as much that my body is taking longer to recover as it was a lengthy mc process albeit natural

@im2sad so sorry to hear you are in the same boat! I agree with the heavy bleed and still positive test you need to get checked out. Let me know how you get on? I’ll be thinking of you x

I think I’ve decided to test in another week so long as i keep feeling well and will contact EPAU at that point if still showing positive on week 4 post mc.

SamBass · 23/06/2021 21:05

@Lulumam
Your welcome, if you have any questions let me know. I know exactly how your feeling, its strange to say it be you just want the negative so bad to try move forward. The mental recovery is worse than I expected, no one tells you about all the waiting and unknown etc i went through it myself when i was told my first AF would be by 6 weeks! It was almost double that...

Im now in limbo of waiting for my second AF and perhaps naively I didn't expect this one to be late too but again you don't get advice on any of this....

Lulumam · 25/06/2021 21:34

@SamBass it’s really odd as I feel like I’m getting my period (sore breasts, tired etc) but it’s not yet four weeks since I mc so it can’t be? Is it my body readjusting to hormones do you think? I hope so but have to confess finding it hard as the symptoms of course are similar to very early pregnancy symptoms and it was only six weeks ago I had the same symptoms and was pg so feeling like this with no AF to show feels pretty brutal but I suppose if at least my hormones are kicking in that’s something….

SamBass · 25/06/2021 22:12

@Lulumam how far along was you when you MC? I have heard of ladies having their AF as soon as 4 weeks after so i wouldn't be too surprised if it arrives.

Mine took 11 weeks i think because i was 9 week but also because my HCG levels were so high. I ended up having bloods test to monitor it coming down due to it taking so long. It was a very frustrating time as oddly all your want is your AF to start your cycles again.

It can be a long road but try keep positive and look forward you will get there :)
