Hopefulbride18 That was awful treatment at the hospital! I am so sorry you had to go through that! As others have said, I would definitely put a complaint in. I had similar gushes when going though the medical management, and it was horrible enough being in a private room! I hope your bleeding has reduced now.

spookycookies I hope today goes well. I also totally get what you say about just wanting a mooch round the shops. I keep saying to DH that I just really want to do something mundane and ordinary that gets me out of the house. I feel the distraction and normality is just what I need right now, but obviously not going to happen!

spookycookies · 28/03/2021 10:50

I'm really sorry that you are all going through this but it's comforting to know I'm not the only one.

AlbiMix · 28/03/2021 11:22

Hi all, just checking back in here, have been off for a couple of days just trying to get some mental space, as it's been my fertile window and I got positive opks so decided to try again.

So sorry to hear these new updates of people struggling with their MCs, it's weird to say this as I don't know the people on this thread IRL but I feel so proud of everyone on here. To go through one MC, let alone more than one, is such a challenge and the people on this thread are so brave. I'm terrified if I do conceive again that I will MC but it's kind of a comfort knowing this thread exists where I can come for advice and feel less alone. So thank you all and let's keep our chins up.

@Nashsophie13 thanks for your kind offer, I'm off Instagram for mental health reasons but if anyone wants to get in touch through private messages on here please go ahead.

Also just to say that as someone with a digestive disorder, I've been having embarrassing medical investigations and conversations for years and I no longer care about being embarrassed when talking with medical professionals. They've seen it all.

Sending lots of hugs and positive thoughts to you all ❤️

kiwi17 · 28/03/2021 13:48

@Hopefulbride18 I'm so sorry I just want to cry for you that must have been such a horrible situation :( I hope things ease now the worst of the bleeding is over. There are too many posts for me to reply to but want to give big virtual hugs all round for everyone who is struggling today. @Albimix we've had positive opks yesterday and today so think we maybe at similar points - 🤞🤞 for our rainbow babies . I'm trying to not read much about consecutive mcs as it just makes me stress even more so trying to be positive!

AlbiMix · 28/03/2021 15:07

Yay @kiwi17 fingers crossed for us both this month...I've never used opks before so will be interesting to see if I've "done the maths" right. When we conceived before the MC I vaguely knew it was my fertile window but wasn't keeping much track. You're probably right to stay away from reading too much, I'm literally reading a book about miscarriage 😂 but I'm finding it really interesting tbh. I'm a bit concerned as I'm waiting on some blood test results and got a text from the GP saying they needed to talk to me about the results...so hoping it's not going to be anything too bad...

kiwi17 · 28/03/2021 15:29

@Albimix was it you who recommended the miscarriage book? I've read it too I actually found it quite interesting although have stopped now as I don't want to worry it'll happen again! Fingers crossed for us both - I hope you get some answers about your blood test and it's nothing bad 🤞

spookycookies · 28/03/2021 18:07

How much pain did you have after medical management? I passed all the tissue this morning and had an internal check because of the pain but I'm still in a lot of pain. Had paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine. Hope it eases up soon.

AlbiMix · 28/03/2021 19:09

@kiwi17 yes I recommended the Lesley Regan book. I'm going to keep going as I'm hoping it might have useful info regarding TTC after a miscarriage or the next pregnancy. Let me know how you get on with TTC 🤞
I actually have been able to look at my test results online today which was probably a bad idea as I'm now trying to self diagnose 😂 based on what I've seen I think I might have a vitamin B12 deficiency, wondering if that could've impacted my pregnancy but I need to just be patient and wait to discuss it with the GP

@spookycookies I don't know if this will be helpful because I had a natural MC not medically managed, but I continued to have fairly severe (contraction like) pain for two days after I passed the sac. I kept bleeding but the pain was more intense than the bleeding at that point. Then the pain eased up and eventually the bleeding too. Sorry you're still in pain, I really hope it subsides soon.

birdbybird · 28/03/2021 21:42

Hi @AlbiMix nice to hear from you and that you’re still here.
I’m waiting for the first period following miscarriage. I felt what maybe were ovulation pains a week ago so think I’m a week away from the period.
Looking forward to trying again.

I’m sorry to all the new ladies that have joined. I echo @Albimix.... you all sound like lovely women and wish you all a speedy recovery.

spookycookies · 28/03/2021 22:40

@AlbiMix thanks for replying. I didn't really have any pain with my natural miscarriage so this is different. Still quite severe but I also feel really really nauseous to the point where I can't sleep. Better when I'm walking around. Hopefully I'll be better soon.

Pepperony87 · 29/03/2021 12:09

So went to the hospital today for internal scan to make sure everything was doing what it should be. Everything is gone, so I guess that's a good sign...at least my body did one part right! The doctor said to wait to try again after my next cycle as it would be fresher blood lining my womb, not potentially 'miscarriage' she explained its like a fresh blanket. Im really conflicted, I wanted to try again as soon as possible and everything I had read said it was safe to do so but now I feel like I should wait which I'm devastated about but I want to do what's best for any future baby too and Ideally avoid another miscarriage. Chances are I wouldn't even fall pregnant first time again, but I wanted the opportunity and now I don't know what to do for best.

Scottishskifun · 29/03/2021 12:30

I think they always advise to wait a cycle but its personal choice. Some women were drinking pom juice to help linings.

I'm massively confused as I have a second period after only 16 days. I don't know if it's because I currently have covid causing havoc with my body or the miscarriage!

PolarBear63 · 29/03/2021 13:49

That is frustrating @Pepperony87 I have no advice at all, but hopefully someone will. I’m in a similar situation so would love to know anything you do find out. I don’t want to try again too soon and cause myself an extra risk of this nightmare again, but I do have this very strong feeling that I want to be pregnant again ASAP.

@Scottishskifun Could it be that your body is getting you back in line with when you usually have your periods? I had a period 4 weeks after my last miscarriage and then bleeding 2.5 weeks after that. It was clearly a period because the next one I had was exactly 4 weeks later, and then when I looked back at my previous period tracking (feels like a mad thing to admit to doing!) I noticed that the second bleed had got me right back to having periods at my usual time of the month. I was quite amazed actually.

AlbiMix · 29/03/2021 14:43

Hi @birdbybird, fingers crossed for your period and then you can get back on TTC when you're ready 🤞I'm in the 2WW now but trying to stay realistic and remember it's only 20% chance of conceiving!

@spookycookies sorry to hear you feel so unwell, really hope it lets up soon for you.

@Pepperony87 this is the guidance from Tommy's:

Don’t worry if you get pregnant before having a period. This does not increase the risk to your pregnancy. Unless your doctor advises you to wait, you can try for another baby as soon as you are ready
www.tommys.org/baby-loss-support/miscarriage-information-and-support/trying-again-after-miscarriage

@Scottishskifun sorry to hear you have COVID, I hope you're doing ok with it? Could it be your cycle taking a while to get back to normal after an MC? In a way I'm surprised there isn't more weird stuff cycle-wise after an MC considering how much of a big deal it is for our bodies...

spookycookies · 29/03/2021 14:56

I'm going to wait until I have a period like I did last time. I just feel like my body will be more prepared. Plus my husband also thinks that's best. Fingers crossed for whenever you choose.

AlbiMix · 29/03/2021 15:45

@spookycookies I decided this too, also because I thought if I did end up conceiving before a period, I thought not knowing the dates etc would be stressful, like if I had a scan I wouldn't know whether it was the right size etc. But then I've read plenty of stories of people conceiving successfully straight after.

Scottishskifun · 29/03/2021 16:34

Thanks @albimix unfortunately I have a moderate case and on steroids to help my lungs Dr's are trying to keep me at home oxygen levels keep going a bit crazy. I'm stuck in bed whilst my DH looks after our toddler as just a few steps leaves me breathless. It's a crazy weird illness I'm only 34!

Yes may be it is my body trying to sync back @polarbear63 this will be my 3rd period since miscarriage and so far only one has been "normal" date wise.

LeeTTCRainbow · 29/03/2021 17:02

Firstly sorry for your losses, i hope you don't mind me joining, a little abit bit about me and my MMC in January 2021, i'm 27 fiance 28 We fell pregnant (first pregnancy) after 5 months first month i used ovulation sticks, i had all pregnancy symptoms including sickness and had no reason to suggest anything was wrong, unfortunately we found out at our 12 week scan that i had lost the baby i suffered a blighted ovum due to size of my sac i lost baby at 11 weeks, unfortunately due to complications, blood loss, painful contractions, clots stuck and being removed i ended up admitted in hospital a couple days later and after a further scan showing my sac was still growing and now 13 weeks in size and further blood loss and contractions i had a emergency d&c under general anaesthetic. its now been 9 weeks post op and ive still not had a period? when did yours return after a d&c? i have a appointment with my gp tomorrow to discuss but just wondered if anyone is in the same boat? thanks for reading and any advice.

AlbiMix · 29/03/2021 17:39

@Scottishskifun oh no, that sounds horrible Sad I really hope you can ride it out and recover without going to hospital. Let us know how you get on please Flowers

@LeeTTCRainbow welcome but I'm so sorry about your experience, that sounds particularly tough. Well done for coming out the other side of it. I don't have first hand advice on the period front (mine returned after a month post natural MC) but I know there are ladies on this thread who will be able to advise you better. Sending positive vibes to everyone today!

Doremifasol · 29/03/2021 20:09

@LeeTTCRainbow I am sorry for your loss. If it helps I'll share my experience. My previous miscarriage was at 9 weeks ( but baby died at 5-6 w) I had D&C and my period returned after 5 weeks exactly.
It's been 11 days since my most recent miscarriage and I just curiously did the test hoping it faded at least a tiny bit but nope, nada... I know I should wait 3 weeks post MC but at this rate there is no chance I'll get negative in 10 days... which means more trips to EPU. I think I've been like 10 times in the past 18 months. How depressing!

treesall · 30/03/2021 19:49

My scan this morning at 9 weeks confirmed the baby had died, so here I am having miscarriage number 4. Medical management was unsuccessful for me last time so I'm having an MVA next Tuesday. Dreading it! I know it was horrible but bearable last time. Just so undignified!

The hospital did confirm that I'm on the waiting list for the recurrent miscarriage clinic and have been for a couple of months so I'm hoping I will get to see someone eventually. Fingers crossed it's not toooooo many more months before I get an appointment.

Given I've had 4 early miscarriages (inc one chemical) in 8 months I think we probably need to stop trying for now. Part of me wants to just keep trying because one might eventually stick but the other part of me thinks my body probably needs a break and that it's stupid to keep trying when something is clearly not working. I don't know!

How you are all doing ok. X

spookycookies · 30/03/2021 19:56

@treesall I'm so sorry. I've had two and can't imagine what four must be like. Hopefully you'll get some answers soon. Have the drs told you to stop trying? I would think you might get lucky or maybe give your womb time to heal better. It's so tricky.
Thinking of you.

LeeTTCRainbow · 30/03/2021 19:59

Sorry for your losses and thank you for your message, well since i last messaged I’ve had some interesting news, had to call epu today for consultant to see me to discuss my lack of period, I had to take a test today to confirm I’m not pregnant did as asked even thought took one 5 weeks post op and was negative on FR and on 12th March which was negative on clear blue. But Today’s one (not first urine of day) is a clear positive took another bit later today as was in shock and confused and took a clear blue this time (as know need higher hcg level than a FR) and is also positive faint but it’s there. So I’m wondering if it’s a new pregnancy? calling epu first thing tomorrow morning. Would explain why still not had a period.

treesall · 30/03/2021 20:18

Fingers crossed for you that it is a new pregnancy @LeeTTCRainbow. Must be a very tense moment for you not knowing what's going on.

No the midwife didn't say anything about whether to keep trying or not. I can ask the gynaecologist thigh next week when i have the procedure. Must remember to do that!

spookycookies · 30/03/2021 20:31

@treesall I wrote down a list of questions that I wanted to ask so I wouldn't forget. It's hard to remember things that have been said/you want to say.
